Just off the 7 night Wonder out of Galveston. We did the placeholder thing and look forward to perhaps a Panama Canal cruise hopefully in 2017. But no new cruises on the near horizon.... So sad!

Can answer questions if there are any.

I can relate. We just returned this morning from the 5 night Magic out of Miami. We are thinking of starting to plan next cruise but we may head to our home DVC resort, Aulani, instead first.

What was your itinerary on this cruise? We are doing a 7 night (also on the Wonder) out of Galveston in January 2017, hitting Key West, CC and Nassau.

Is the port at Galveston easy to navigate? Did you stay in Galveston prior to your cruise (or after)? If so do you have a hotel recommendation? How was the crossing in general, any rough seas?

We're just off the Wonder from Nov 13 on Galveston! ! I can sooooo relate! I miss our vacay so much! I was weirdly emotional after getting back those first few days, like I realized how silly it was but I couldn't help it! I'd look at our pics or see our souvenirs we bought and just cry!!! So retarded!lol! It was our first disney cruise and I just loved it!! Too much apparently! Trying to convince the hubs to book the Magic March 2017, but with such an expensive price tag it may take a bit!

Hahaha! We don't have a firm one booked. Yet. But we are going to WDW in oh about 30 days.....
bcwife, the itinerary is the same as you described. The cruise was great, we love the wonder. She looks amazing, rooms were great as usual. We did have , um, not rough but not smooth sailing in and out of the gulf. I've sailed worse, but I get the idea it's a thing coming in and out if Galveston.

We live in Fort Worrh. We drove in the night before and stayed at the Hotel Gslvez. They have a stay and park thing so we were able to leave out car there and they start shuttling people to and from port first thing in the morning. It was great. Highly recommend. We were in and out of port on time.

They did do the new Frozen themed deck party and had a corresponding new dining theme for that night. I was surprised how much we liked all the foods on the new menu. We don't have littles so we found the Freezing the Night Away show pretty thin and cheesy, but fun when Elsa shows up and does her thing.

We had great weather during all of our port days. Didn't realize they have the old duty free store set up with Star Wars merch, so that was fun and the ran Retun Of The Jedi which was fun to see on a big screen again.

All our staff was great. I'm not a super fan of the Christmas heavy holiday stuff, but they kept a good mix of Xmas music and regular music going on.

And the actual port is easy. The people were really nice. You drop your bags at a different spot of the building then where you enter, but there is lots of signage. The port does fill up, we were group 3 and boarding was timely. I'd get there right away or maybe after 12 if I had to pick. Boarding was super smooth. Have a great cruise!!

We're from Ft Worth too!

You're going to love the Caribbean and 7 nights, it will be night and day from our cruise. Congrats on switching, I wish we could join you but will have to wait for June 2017.

Great, thank you for all the tips! We're going to be flying into Houston so need to find our way to Galveston (I've heard Disney transfers are quite pricey so not sure how we're going to get there yet).

You got inside my head and MADE ME SWITCH!!!!!!! j/k :rotfl2: Honestly it came down to $$'s and especially with our exchange rate. Plus like I'd mentioned before, hubby was not thrilled with going somewhere 'potentially cold'. We'll do Alaska eventually, just won't be on DCL. Very excited for 7 nights! Just wish it wasn't so far away :thumbsup2

Did you get off the boat in Nassau and/or do the excursions or Atlantis? We will be on this route next Christmas!

We've been to Nassau several times. Never been to Atlantis, I would like to see it I guess but it's expensive in my eyes to pay to go see a hotel. We did the Ardastra Gardens and city tour, wanted something my MIL could enjoy without a lot of walking. We enjoyed it, especially a bird feeding area which was neat. Otherwise, I would have stated on the ship. My DH has done the Junkanoo one with forts and castles I think? He really liked it.

What?!?!?! You decided to switch away from Alaska?!?! Ha, ha, ha!!! My fear like I told u before was my Los Angeles butt can't handle the Alaskan cold, layers of clothing, and I'm pretty sure DH would get tired of me complaining so much!!! :rotfl2:

Glad you're doing the Caribbean! We did Western on Fantasy but that was end of June. I'm also waiting for the rest of 2017 to be released. :thumbsup2

I would LOVE it if DCL did more West coast itineraries! ::yes::

In nassau we booked the catamaran sail and reef snorkel thru the ship! It was, very fun and our kids loved it too and actually did really good snorkeling! It was about a 40 min boat ride out past the Atlantis out to the reef, snorkeling for about an hr then as we sailed back they cranked up the music and had free soda or rum punch available!

I wish we had done that one - that's our favorite type of excursion!

I'm still kind of 'mourning' the Alaska cruise lol but honestly between the cost of it and our poor exchange rate for the CDN $.....yeah....plus with the money we have 'saved' by switching our itinerary we are going to Maui for a week, too!:thumbsup2 We'll get to Alaska in a few years, it just won't be on DCL. However, hopefully I'll book a placeholder on our upcoming cruise, with the hopes they offer more West Coast itineraries like you said! :jumping1:

Sounds like you made a great decision! Love the Maui part of your plan!

Don't say "it won't be on DCL" it's a curse. The Vancouver to San Diego cruise was supposed to be our last on DCL and now we are already planning and saving for 2017 and 2018 DCL cruises. It's the addiction we can't seem to get over. Enjoy Maui, we were in Hawaii for the first time this past June and it was great.

We always give ourselves 3 months after the last cruise and book the next DCL cruise...........The planning brings!

Right now we have April 16 and March 17 booked. After March 17 I am hoping to do a PC east bound the next fall

I can hardly wait until my wife's teaching career is done so we can do a PC cruise. 10 plus days on a ship sounds glorious!
