Well I am just getting over our recent trip to Disney 2-16 May.
We originally booked our flights and car with TCD before they went bust.
So although we thought about cancelling our trip, we decided to check out the prices with other operators and got a very good price with Virgin Atlantic as long as you pay the cash up front. So we booked the flights and started looking for a villa for 9 people. Last year we stayed at Windsor Hills in a 5 bedroom villa, but we decided to go for a 6 bedroom villa so my son could have his own room and give us some privacy. I looked into this and booked a villa at Emerald Island. Having never stayed here before and especially having a great villa last year I was slightly worried.

Anyway time gets on hassles with ticket prices etc going up, not to mention the swine flu episode when the mother in law panicked the world was going to end. But some how we ended up having an ok flight out, even though it was just short of 9 hours. There was enough of us to pass around my 20 month old son to keep him happy for most of the journey. We had two young girls about 13 and 15 in front of us who had their seats back all the way. I am 6ft 3 and do not have much room at the best of times, but with a child as well I had even less. They kept their seats back even through the meals. So meal times was fun, just before landing my son did kick out a couple of times at the chair in front but we quickly stopped this even though we had no room. But the girls thought it was funny to keep banging the seats back quite hard. I was not happy but put up with it. Then they did it to hard and I had to ask them to stop banging the seats back as we had very little room as it was, they just laughed at my comment and their mother just sat in her seat and said nothing.

Anyway, it is just a flight and would not spoil anything for my holiday.

Orlando airport is much more hard work than Sanford to get your cases, then your cases again and then your car. But then the journey is much closer to the 192.

The villa at Emerald Island was excellent. It was a very good location for the parks. It was also a good location for my mother 4 trips to Walmart. Why I will never know?

The weather in the first week was excellent, if anything it was to warm. The second week was a bit cooler but still warm. We had a couple of electrical storms which was quite good while watching Spectromagic, as it did not rain.

We had one night slightly spoiled by rain at Epcot, but we ate at Le Cellier and then watched illuminations then home.

Some great meals at
Black Angus & TGI Fridays on the 192.
A great Takeaway Pizza at the Pizza Hut which was made even better as when we were waiting for our Pizza, Peter Kay walked in with two of his friends. I am a big Peter Kay fan but remained calm. We did chat with him for 15 mins, but I did make a point of NOT asking him for his autograph as he was on holiday with this friends and family. He shook my hand when I left saying it had been a pleasure meeting me.
I haven’t washed since….

My favourite meal was at Crystal Palace Lunch….Emma Bunton was sat at the side of us, I was not celebrity spotting honest.

Favourite ride as always was Rock N Roller Coaster, followed closely by Tower of Tower. Went on the Simpsons ride which was ok, but not in the same class as Soarin’.

Loved the Move it Shake it Celebrate it. Enjoyed the new 3pm parade. Thought the music was much more catchy. I think they have increased the number of characters as well recently.

Fantasmic was busy, but very good. Spectromagic was again very busy but good.

Wishes, well it is worth every penny just for these fireworks. I am ok, till the end bit when they sing Starlight, Starbright….Then for me it is tears and more tears.

So all in all, another great vacation and let the planning start for next year.

I will add some photos when I get the chance.

Cheers

Neil

Welcome back sounds like you had a fantastic time over there. Cant believe to two girls in front of you  this really annoys me just wish people where not ignorant at times.

Glad it didnt spoil your holiday though your next one will be here before you know it :)

Welcome back isn't Peter Kay lovely, I met him a few years back now my old boss was his wife's best friend.

Sounds like a great trip I love Black Angus. Shame about the two girls with there seats back all the way.

Sounds like you had a lovely time.
Shame about the flight hassles with the seat back,I must admit it drives me crazy when people recline their seats for the duration of the flight.:headache:

Look forward to seeing some pictures.:goodvibes

How on earth did you manage to pass him around!!!

I was going to ask but knew it was a typo error did make me chuckle :rotfl:

Peter Kay was at DLRP in January this year - a few people spotted him and he spoke to one person for a while. I wonder if he lurks on these boards...

Glad you had a good time, despite the poor behaviour of the girls on the flight. You did well to keep your temper.

Welcome back.
Glad you had a great time.

Your lucky to see some celebs, I never spot any!

To be honest I would have given the 2 of them a few good kicks, it's something that is unavoidable to a degree but unacceptable for the whole flight.
Manners cost nothing, long haul flights cost a lot of money.

On my first flight out, a lady put her seat right back after takeoff and I couldn't move, I am 6"2" had a sore back and was jammed against the window.

I asked her if she would please move her seat forward slightly, to which she ignored me. I waited until dinner was served and constantly kept banging her chair, she still didn't move her chair forward.

I approached the flight crew, told them what was hapenning and that because of my back complaint I was in severe discomfort and the lady in front was told to move her seat forward. Her face was a picture.

My opinion is that seats should not be able to be reclined.

I completly agree. I just smile most of the time, but they were just ignorant.
When we landed, I just said to them when you are older and take your children on holiday please remember how you behaved on this flight. Then I said have a nice holiday.

It was a pain, but when I was walking right down the middle of Main St USA the morning after, I had forgot all about the flight. Just been watching some of the videoing. I love WDW. :cool1:

Glad you had a great time! we had some old couple put their seats back and im only little so didnt bother me too much but its just annoying and inconsiderate and it really p****s me off!

i know what you mean about that part in Wishes - sets me off EVERYTIME had to turn it off my ipod this morning on way to work - didnt want to be crying on the train haha

Glad you had a great time - Wishes is great - we got the soundtrack on CD - I even play it once in a while!!!! :)

Sounds like a great trip! You were there exactly the same dates as us - think we must have been at Epcot the same night as well - we almost drowned walking to Nine Dragons for our dinner! Never seen a downpour like it!!!!

My DH is devastated - he loves Emma Bunton. What date did you see her on - if it was any of our MK days I think he will cry to have been so close!!!!

Glad you had a lovely time. Sorry about the naughty girls in front of you on the plane. I always check who is behind me for reclining and only recline when I am trying to sleep usually just on the way home.

At Orlando Airport you only need to pick up your luggage once, you don't need to leave it when you are getting on the shuttle train. You used to have to do this but they stopped it last year, giving you the choice.

I realise this, but when you have a pram with a baby, a 6 year old daughter 4 cases, a car seat, hand luggage and that is before discuss the the other 5 people travelling. I think the escalators would have been fun.... :dance3:
