Just returned from the Fort last night. Couldn't have picked a better week to go! I have always gone during the summer time when the waits are long and the sun is hot! Complete opposite this time around, crowds were low, waits were very short and the temperature was just right!:cool1:

I went with my boyfriend and his family and we stayed in cabin. There was a total of 6 of us and while it was fine for sleeping, trying to share a bathroom with 5 other adults was interesting. And the other issue we had the internal bus systems in the campground that take to you wait for either the ferry to magic kingdom or the buses to the other parks. No matter where we wanted to go it would take at least an hour or so. We always had to wait quite some time for the bus we needed to actually come.

Thinking back, we would probably have rented a golf cart. We were located at the 2400 loop and needed to get to the settlement...a gentleman and his son passed us and said "good luck we haven't seen a bus in awhile so we decided to walk". So we then proceeded to trek it to the settlement and what a walk it was! If we would have had a golf cart-life could have been so much easier!

It was a very nice, clean, quite campground. Would we stay there again while trying to do all of disney? Probably not. If we were just camping there then we would def. choose it. However, when it comes to doing Disney, we like how at other resorts all thats needed to get to park buses is simply walking out the room door and not having to wait for the internal system to take us. There was also the issue of no where to really put all of our clothes. We had suitcases everywhere and while we made it work, it was kind of a pain.

Another nice part was how the campsites around the settlement were all decorated for christmas. Talking 10-15 huge blow up christmas decorations as well as lights. I love christmas time so this was very neat to see!!:santa: Given how big the campground is i am sure there are so many more that decorate and we missed!

We had the dining plan as well. This made eating sooo much more easier while we were out. Having the option for snacks, quick service lunch and dinner was awesome! It took us a day or two to figure out what counted for each, but we got the hang of it.:woohoo:

:welcome:

Thanks for the report!

Sounds like a fun time.

Oh yea, do you have any pictures? We can't get enough photos of the Fort.

:thumbsup2

Thanks everyone! I have been looking through this forum for a few months now and i decided i should join and leave my own trip report! I also tried to make it detailed because that is what i like to read to help make my own plans while vacationing.

I am going through all my pictures and surprisingly i have very few from the fort! :sad2: I was so fascinated with all the christmas decorations at the parks and the other resorts as well. :santa: Not sure how to upload onto here though?

I guess i can add a little more...for the dinner part of our dining plan we ate at Germany in the Biergarten (sp?) for 2 of the nights, Mexico in La Hacienda, at the Fort we ate at Trails End and also did the Spirit of Aloha dinner/show at the Polynesian. The food at all was extremely delicious! The spirit of aloha was interesting, kind of long in my opinion, but its a buffet w/ all you can eat ribs, chicken, rice and vegetables and beer/wine was all you can drink-win for us! Haha

Thanks for the report! Welcome to the boards! Oh, since nobody asked, can you post some photos of your trip? :rotfl2:
