WELL ... sadly ... we are home.
Overall our trip was a good one.
We stayed BC concierge for the 2nd year in a row. This year we didn't enjoy the concierge as much. But I think that is because we ended up on the 4th floor. We started out on the 5th floor - room 5698. It overlooked the roof and parking lot. Full balcony ... just not a fantastic view. Well, after being there 2 days my husband started to feel sick. It was EXTREMELY musty in the room. We talked to the CM's and they said we were the 3rd people to complain that day!! Apparently after the hurricane they had a lot of wet rooms and rushed to dry them. They are now finding they missed spots and the rooms are needing to be shut down to be thoroughly cleaned. (I should add however they told us they were shutting our room down for 10 days and we know someone was in there 2 days later ... so I am not sure they are REALLY fixing the problem). Anyway ... we got moved to the 4th floor. We still had access to the lounge & 5th floor - however it is not the same on the 4th floor. We did not get turn down service (the only part of that i care about is the mints .. but still). The beds were also not double sheeted. There was no bowl of fruit waiting for us either
On the good side though -- We ended up with a 10 times better view. We overlooked the sand volleyball courtyard and the lake. It was a PERFECT spot. SO, I gave up my mints willingly
The concierge staff was wonderful! We loved the morning ladies especially-- Teresa and Vilma are the best! (They were all great though.) Our first day there we were greeted with a signed picture of Buzz Lightyear for our 3 year old. He was thrilled!!!
The lounge was alright. Last year they had better offerings than this year. This year throughout the afternoon (11-4) it was SO boring. It was always goldfish, pretzels, cheddar cheese popcorn, and cookies. I would have liked for there to have been veggies or fruit out at that time. (for me .. ha ha ... the kids were plenty happy) One thing that we liked was the juice boxes anytime. we took them back to our room and kept a few in the fridge for those odd hours when the lounge was closed. The evening desserts were my favorite. And my kids LIVED off of the pb&j uncrustables. There were several nights we fed them those for dinner from the lounge because we found quick that is all they wanted from the restaurants anyway. PRETTY BORING
ha ha
One night we used Kids Nite Out. A girl named Sarah was our caregiver. She was very thorough and made us feel very comfortable leaving. Their rates aren't even bad considering what I'd pay a sitter here. I would definitely use them again. We had our DVD player -- so it was pretty easy for her
The parks weren't all that busy. By waking up and going early in the morning we were able to ride Buzz Lightyear 5 times in one day!!
My 3 year old was in heaven!! Even late in the day there wasn't a super long wait for rides. We were pretty impressed.
We went to Chef Mickey's. I know everyone says the same thing -- but i'll repeat it -- it was SO worth it!!! Both the 1 and 3 yr old LOVED it! We spent the longest time there!! And later in the trip as we saw everyone waiting in line for mickey's autograph and picture i was SO SO SO glad we had done it!! money WELL spent!!!
We got to ride in the front of the monorail and that was another highlight of our 3 yr olds!!! i highly recommend asking -- it's so fun
they let him sit in the driver seat for a picture too!
the entire time we were there they checked room keys at SAB and gave out wristbands. the pool was never overly busy. it was perfect. the temperature was perfect. the kids probably would've stayed in there all day if we would have let them. i only wish they'd let parents ride with kids down the big slide .. or let them go with floaties on. oh well ... maybe next time
overall we had a great trip!!! i will post a link to some pictures in a bit
