Never thought this would get to be a three-parter, but here goes..

Cast:

DH (49) Guy who can't seem to get away from work
Me (49) Embarrased Disney veteran who didn't plan much for this trip

Okay, so I didn't have every moment planned. I mean, I did have a general idea of what we'd be doing. Then I figured we'd just fill in the blank spots as we went along.
So on Monday morning we figured we'd get up kind of early and go SOMEWHERE, we're at WDW for cryin' out loud, and we promised ourselves not to be commandos this trip. But we still hadn't done some of the things we try to always do, so maybe we better get serious.
So we figure to grab a bite at the lounge, and figure out which park to head to. Didn't want to go to AK, since we were doing the Sunrise Safari on Tuesday. We were doing a Keys to the Kingdom tour on Wednesday, so maybe we'd wait again on the MK. Well, I suppose we could go to EPCOT again, there's so much to see, and we could FP Mission Space...
See, that's not hard. Plus we'll just see if the concierge can't get us a PS Fantastimc Dinner and we'll be set.

So we are in the lounge in our favorite little spot (gotta love it...we're here 3 days and we already have our own 'spot') having a nice little breakfast. Let me take a moment to tell you about their breakfast. It was really just perfect for us. We like fruit or juice and a muffin for breakfast and they had a wonderful spread. Trays of great fruit ( cantaloupe, watermelon, blueberries, strawberries, pineapple and banana) All kinds of muffins, bagels, toast and pastries. Cold cereal and even oatmeal. I love oatmeal, not the instant kind, the kind you have to cook for a while, and they had two kinds! Plain and brown sugar cinnamon. Not to mention coffee, tea, milk and juices AND a cappuccino/espresso machine. Perfect!

So, lounge, favorite spot, don't have to cook then...

eee..eee...eeee!!! :scared1:

The gate to the lounge slams and a phlemgy cough starts up the stairs. It's her ! Scary Mom! She schleps right past us ( no easy task this am since she is BAREFOOT!). Barefoot and in the robe from the room, bed head and squinty eyed. Other than coughing, she says nothing. Just pours some coffee grabs a crossaint, then heads back down the stairs.

C'mon! We are on vacation, we don't wanna see that. To me, the lounge is very convenient, but it's not home. Pull some clothes (and some shoes...the staff told us shoes were really the only required dress...and I'm not gonna touch THAT with a ten-foot pole ;) )

Now 20-30 minutes later we are back up in the lounge. DH is having a somewhat 'spirited' conversation with one of his clients who insisted on calling him while we were on vacation, and I'm waiting for a chance to speak with the concierge about PS. The Scary Kids are in front of the TV with a huge mess spread across the coffee table. As fast as the staff would clean up, one of them would find something to bring over to the table. They must've downed 10 chocolate milks among them, there's open cereal, half-eaten muffins, very wasteful kids.
SM &SD (Scary Mom & Scary Dad) show up. She looks at the kids and sees that one still has a bowl of uneaten cereal in front of her. The rest of the mess is gone at this point. So she starts screaming at the kid. "Eat that! Didn't I send you up here to eat!? What the heck (she didn't really say heck) have been doing for the last half-hour?!! Eat, darn it!!( she didn't really say darn it, either). Then she looks at the little girl. "I suppose YOU didn't do any better" She schleps to the buffett and grabs an apple and a knife, carves up that apple and throws it in front of the little girl, who starts whining "I'm not hungry". SD gets in picture now, he's no slacker in the parenting department and assists his charming wife by thunking the the girl in the head and telling her to eat. This guy has at least three cameras slung around his neck. I'm tempted to go over and ask if they'd like me to take a picture of this warm Disney moment. Their yelling has even got my DH's attention, he sees me starting to get up out of the chair and shakes his head no (he came from an abused background, he says it's usually worse for the kids later if outsiders interfere). The son has wisely slunk off to the bathroom at the start of this. SM hollers for water bottles all around and they left. Whew! I'm drained! I just hope they are going to be where we aren't today!

So, I'm back to planning. The concierge is just shaking her head, unfortunately they see it all on a daily basis.
We get a PS for Mama Melroses, a favorite, and head out to EPCOT. Got FP for MS, toured some of the WS while waiting, then decided to stand in line for MS and come out and use FP. (told you we liked this!)

Went back to the room to freshen up, had a glass of African Smooth ( try this if you go...it's a blended fruit juice, yogurt and honey concoction and is delicious!) and head over to MGM.

We missed a chance to see Beauty & the Beast, TOT closed, but I didn't care, and DH likes RnR but didn't care if he didn't go on this time. So we saw the muppets and rode Star Tours, no waiting. Had a great dinner at Mama M's (shared everything...big portions here) and headed over to Fantasmic. DH started to not feel so well :(

We decided to go back to the hotel and call it a night.

Loretta,

I am really enjoying your trip reports. Keep them coming!!!

p.s. don't you wish you could have video taped the "schelpping family" and left the tape for them so they could watch how they are in public.

OK, from now on when you see the scary family...RUN AWAY. I hope you've seen the last of them. I like your relaxing vacation!

I don't understand SF (Scary Family). You're in Disney for cripes sake! Enjoy!

:) Thanks for the sharing. My mother(83y)would love that they have both cereal and oatmeal! The breakfast sounds delicious.
Some people (SM&SD) have no idea how they come across when in public. I feel sorry for the children. :(
I am enjoying reading about the spontaneity of your trip. Hope your dh is feeling better.

I have the feeling SM:scared1: and SD:scared1: could care less about how they are seen in public.... ::yes::
I also feel sorry for the children....
Hope you managed to stay clear of SM & SD for the rest of your trip.
Love your reports...keep them coming...

All those cameras and yet a "precious moment" lost  . Very sad to read about, poor kids don't have much of a chance do they? Happy to hear you both enjoyed MS so much :)

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Your description of the :scared1: :scared1: family is cracking me up!!
I feel sorry for those kids though, they should be having fun, not being yelled at.

How did you like the Keys to the Kingdom tour?
I'll keep reading your installments, be sure to mention.....we would like to try it this go round. I have a DS age 16 and a DD age 13 (plus DH who is willing to try anything--as long as I do the planning!!)

good reports...you have the touch!

Wonderfully funny reports Loretta, thank you!!! I feel bad for the kids as well and would have wanted to interfere like you. So I'm glad you mentioned what DH said about that and will refrain from doing so in the future. I certainly don't want to make it worse for the children.
Please tell us about the Keys to the Kingdom. I'd like to take my DS, 15 next May and I'm just wondering if he'd think it was fun or boring. Never know with kids.
Can't wait for part 4!!! :Pinkbounc
