.... and landed in a snow storm - what have you guys been doing with the weather last week.

If anyones needs a week of relaxation, then Barbados is the place. We got a great Virgin Mega Deal of the web and stayed at Escape at Prospect Bay on the west coast.

Went pe on the way out but could not get it on the way back - both flights very full ... what a difference the return flight was. No pretzels, only one offer of a drink and the meal was fish, fish or ... fish .

Barbados airport is getting a big refurbishment and so is in a bit of a mess. Did the check in chill out thing with virgin, which was great. Check in your bags in your hotel lobby at 9.00am - get boarding passes and then get picked up at around 4.00pm, whisked to airport and virtually straight onto plane. Will downtown disney check in ever return ....

Weather for the whole week 25 degress at night with 34 during the day, with very little humidity, what a life....

Any way, the only thing that was wrong was it didn't include at week at wdw, so onto the serious planning, member services , here we come.

Glad you had a great time!

We're off to St.Lucia in a few months, hopefully the weather will stay warm!

The check-in-chill-out thing sounds great, hopefully where we are staying will offer that service.

:)

mmmmmmmm........ sounds lovely!
We've been thinking of going to Barbados for quite some time - please tell us what sort of things you did, apart from enjoying the beaches

Sounds wonderful. Not long now til we head in that direction so I'm glad the weather is nice!
A friend lives on Barbados - she has just qualified as a dive instructor, I really should go and visit her one day!

Shirley - our plan of attack for the week changed day by day.

We had thought about doing the helicopter tour round the island, a trip to see Harrisons Caves, a shopping trip into Bridgetown and possibly a jeep safari.

The helicopter trip was cancelled because when we arrived, we flew right down the west coast and seen everywhere (flew very low) including where we were staying. (saved £100)

We combined a trip to the caves, stalagtites etc, with a trip to the flower forrest which are both in the middle of the island. The island being 21miles by 14 miles ! - Jeep Safari cancelled . Another saving.

The shopping trip into Bridgetown was very interesting. The port was very busy with 4 huge cruise ships in dock, which made the town centre quite busy as well. There is still alot of buildings left over from the British rule and this along with some of the shacks that the Barbadans use makes a big contrast.

The dissappointing bit about Bridgetown was the duty free shopping. There is a mith about the Carribean being the duty free paradise of the world. mmm maybe not, unless you want diamonds or emeralds. (and no, before you ask, Fiona was not getting any of these - the holiday was her Christmas and 30th Birthday present :D )

We found that the outlet malls in Orlando were MUCH cheaper than Barbados.

Not once during the entire holiday did we feel threatened or intimidated by the locals. Although we were told they were a friendly race, they were polite, rather than friendly. Many people seemed to agree with that.

There are plenty of trips you can do at night to local events but after lying on the gorgeous beaches, drinking the all inclusive "supplies" all day and eating the fantastic food, the entertainment laid on by the hotel was more than ample for us.

The weather was fantastic and seems to be pretty steady throughout the year. The humidity being much more plesant than Orlando.

Any more questions - fire away.

David

David - just about to post my own questions on Barbados/St Lucia - any views/help very much appreciated, thanks:D :D
