It was my first trip ever to wdw, and the worst part was the hotel
I had high expectiations for good disney service. some of it was very good. the room was clean, no bugs, haha, housekeeping attentive, and I got towel animals & balloons on my birthday.
the property is lovely overall, and intimate, short walks to food court/pool. I frequently saw trash in the landscaping.
all the recreation (boats, bikes, carriage, etc) is down at the POR even the arcade was better at the POR
most the front desk clerks at the POFQ were clueless. 90% of my questions were answered with "no" or "i dont know" but the anwers always started with "im sorry" ... they are polite, but they cant even tell you what time the food court opens. The lines were always long for guest services... It got to the point that i avoided the front desk at all costs, because it was always a disappointment.
I had called 3 days in advance to ensure a smoking room and a refridgerator, (and also several times before that with WD travel)
During that same call 3 days ahead, i had questions about the furniture, and asked for an extra folding luggage rack, and was told simply "no you cannot have an extra luggage rack" which bothered me, and when i asked about counter space, the woman on the phone said "maybe you booked the wrong resort" ... as if i could change it at that point. she was very rude.
she also did not put in my room requests.
arrived at 245pm check in and they did not have a smoking room for me. First they told me I had to smoke outside, until I told them i wanted to change resorts, then they let us smoke in our room. I stood there crying I was so upset & tired from the long trip. Amber, our clerk, did her best to accomodate us. She was bubbly and nice, despite the problems.
get to the room to find out that they dont even have folding luggage racks, but a sitting bench instead. why didnt the woman on the phone mention that???
we had a wonderful time at WDW, at the parks, and our visits to other resorts... but the POFQ felt like a budget hotel to me. no frills. The furniture was small but nice. there is a shortage of counter space. The beds are tiny. The walls are so thin i could hear the children in the next room all hours of the day and night. They sent around men with leaf blowers right down the room walkways at 9:30 in the morning.... ever heard of brooms???
The rack rate on the door in $184 a night. I know no one pays rack rate, I hope, because that hotel was certainly not worth that kind of money. Two bars of soap and a bottle of shampoo. no frills. I've stayed in much cheaper hotels that provided lotion, emery boards, shoe shine cloths, conditioner, shower caps, mouthwash, etc etc. The POFQ did not even have pen and paper near the phone.
Oh - the in-room coffee... it was horrible until i started using bottled water. That helped alot. I asked for 2 regular packets and no decaf and our maid remembered every day. Dorta was very good and I tipped her well.
The bell desk clerks were snooty, and 20 minute waits for bellmen.
Also the gate guards were very helpful for getting directions to other resorts. Ask them, instead of the desk clerks.
Like I said, I had high expectiations at this hotel, so next time I'll know better. If i were booking another trip today, I would stick with the all stars or pop century. I dont see how the amenities could be any less. I will also seriously consider staying off property in the future.
thanks for letting me vent.
full week's TR will be up soon

time to change my sig...
