Arrived on Friday, March 25th and spent our 1st two nights at POR - forgot how beautiful this resort is - love walking the grounds. The room renovations make it feel more like a deluxe - loved how they added the fridge and curtain for privacy. They also had a great service where you could pick out items in the store (and add your own if you brought them) and they made up an Easter Basket for $5.00. It really made it feel more like Easter at home and the girls loved them!
Spent our 1st full day (Saturday) at the Medical Center as my DD17 came down with 102 fever - had to wait over 3 hours to be seen.
I think they just write a standard perscription for amoxicillin and move on to the next patient! It was raining most of the time we were at the clinic so we didn't feel like we missed much and glad to get her on the road to recovery. She felt much better on Sunday after the antibiotics kicked in.
Moved to the Boardwalk Villas on Easter Sunday. There was no line for check in but our room wasn't ready. We stored our luggage and went to Epcot for a few hours. Loved the new Crush! Also, if you had little ones they had the cutest Easter Egg hunt (I was wishing my DD's were little many times this trip).
Returned about 4 and our room was ready. It was a Standard view 2 bdrm. on the 5th floor overlooking the valet area and only 2 rooms down from the elevator. At first we were disappointed as last time we had a Boardwalk view but VERY far from the elevator. However, our opinion changed as we loved the closeness to the elevator and were entertained by people coming and going from the valet. We weren't in the room much this time so view didn't really matter. The room was in good shape with minor scratches to the furniture and door locks on the bathroom didn't work. Also, there was something gross on our bedspread and 1 call to housekeeping and it was replaced right away.
Had dinner at Cape May on Easter evening and loved it (my DH loves this place!) (will put restaurant reviews on that board)
Since we have teenagers they always slept in. Went to the Midnight to 3 am on Wednesday EMH at MK and it was still busy! Lots of people with very small children out at that hour - couldn't believe the number of strollers. The wait for Space Mountain and Big Thunder were still very long but there were no waits or very little for many of the other attractions. Not sure if we would do EMH this late again as it really wiped us out the next day. Water parks were full to capacity every nice day so we went at 2:30 one day after they reopened which worked out but seemed to short.
All in all a nice second visit home.... really LOVE The Boardwalk. The lobby, the smell, the pool, the stores, the activity..... However, the parks were so crowded we felt like we did half as much in twice the time. The parks were open late so we took advantage of this but it seemed we stood in line for everything from food to bathrooms, etc. Never even made it to Animal Kingdom. We were there last year the exact same week but the crowds weren't like this. Also, next time we will slow down and take a resort day and just chill out.
Saw Cirque for the 2nd time and loved it more than the first. Also, went to Sea World one day and it took 45 minutes just to get a ticket to get in! Did Behind the Scenes Polar Express and Dine With Shamu - okay, but probably wouldn't do again.
We do have to travel at peak time the next few years due to school schedules. Will probably take a break next year from Disney as DD17
will be going on a trip with her French class next spring break. Sad to be back home but at least our weather in Minnesota is 60 degrees so I'm not wearing my winter coat again! Any ?'s just ask.....
