Just got back from POP within the last hour and we did meet Tyler! What a super nice guy. We are wore out so i'll give a trip report within the next 24 hours or so. Glad to be back on the boards:wave:

Can't wait to read your report. We are heading for Pop in 2 weeks! Yay! Sadly, Tyler will be gone by then. I was looking forward to meeting him.

I think I read on another thread that Tyler is going back to Transportation. I am so hoping to see him during my trip! :hyper:

He is so kind and helpful on these boards.::yes::

Love ya Tyler!:wave2:

Glad you had a nice trip. So nice you got to meet Tyler. How was pop?:D

Yes, we met Tyler!:bounce: He was working the Front Desk when we checked in on the 16th. Tyler is a super nice guy in person just as he is on this board. I may have been one of the first to learn of his transfer back to transportation before he announced it on the board. Sorry to see him leave POP because he is such a huge asset to this resort.

Now for a brief review of POP.

We arrived on the 16th around 1:30 pm. Check-in was a breeze and we were in our room within 1 hour. Luggage assistance met us as we arrived in our towncar (FL Tours) and we never touched it again until it arrived in the room (also within 1 hour).

We found POP to be an excellent resort especially with children. Our DD12 and DS9 had an awesome time and we would definitely stay there again. We requested in advance, the 50's or 70's when we made our ressie with CRO. It was noted on the ressie and we did not fax an additional request to the resort. The CM who checked us in gave us the option of either the 50's or 70's just as we had requested. We chose the 50's building A 4th floor and it was extremely quiet even though the resort appeared to be very busy.

Our room size was adequate and did not seem to be as small as we had imagined. The biggest fault i found with the room was the opening of the door into the room. It opened real close to the bed but presented no major problems for us. There was an iron and full-size ironing board in the room also but no refrig. (which is $10 extra per night). Because we spent the majority of time at the parks, we did not rent the refrig. but purchased a styrofoam cooler at Publix for $2.99 and kept a minimal amount of ice in it just for sodas, water and snacks.

The food court and shopping area (better known as "Everything POP") was also adequate for a weeks stay. We found the food to be ok but nothing fancy and the prices were typical disney. We did notice a few folks using non-disney mugs for refills but the majority were abiding by the policy.

Bus transportation was excellent. The only time i can remember waiting over 10 minutes was once and that was going to the MK. For the return buses back to POP, the MK bus was the longest wait but not more than 15 min. for us. When we returned from MK after the parade and fireworks, there were 2 buses back to back within a couple of minutes of each other.

The Arcade area for the kids was a real pleaser! Games are played and the kids collect tickets for their winnings. The tickets can be redeemed for various gifts. My DD and DS collected over 3,500 points during our stay and we almost had to buy another suitcase to bring all the items home!

Although on previous trips we have only stayed at a moderate resort, this was our first stay at a value resort and were extremely pleased with the choice.

On a scale of 1-10 for value resorts, we would rate POP a 10. This is an excellent resort for the money and is laid out wonderfully.

I'll be happy to answer any questions about POP that i am able to.

Glad to be back on the boards and back to the planning stages for our next Disney Vacation on Disney Cruise Lines:wave:

Glad you enjoyed your trip. It was a pleasure to meet y'all!

Just out of curiosity... did y'all get any 'surprises'?

Tyler, it was a pleasure to meet you as well;) and yes, we did get a nice basket with balloons and small toys for the kids. I forgot to mention it in my review. It really made the kids feel real special:sunny:

Did you have anything to do with this?:teeth: if so, we really appreciate it. It was our ultimate day at POP!

For all of you who are wondering what we are talking about, on our 2nd or 3rd day at POP, when we returned to our room, we found a nice basket type card with 3 colorful balloons attached to it. There was also a card that read: "Family of the Day" and Thank you for being our guest! This was from the POP Century Front Office Team.

We felt very special that day and placed it in our window for others to see during our stay. And of course, we brought it back home with us and have it displayed in our den.

thanks again Tyler and the rest of the Front Office Team:hug:

Tyler! You're going back to Transportation?? Why? It seemed like you liked working at a resort better than driving a bus when we met, but that was like the first week the resort was open LOL, I guess things may have changed since then.

Tyler is an asset to disney, in any capacity he serves;) and he will be missed by the staff at Pop Century i can assure you::yes::

Who, me? Nope, not I. Perhaps when I was talking to Goofy the other day, he might have sent it. Who knows! :teeth:

Don't get me wrong... I loved my time at Pop, and I will miss everyone there. Being part of an Opening Team is something that only a privledged few get the honor to do, as they can be highly selective -- so, that alone was awesome. However, some things have changed, and now I need/want to go back to transportation. It's all part of the "master" plan... LOL :)
