I will post a full report later but wanted to let all know MHO on concierge in the Tahiti building. The day we arrived they seemed to be still adjusting to the new building, so much so that they had given us the wrong room # twice. The first was not a smoking room which I requested, because I needed to smoke on the balcony. We went to the desk to see if they had any availble and they did but when she put the info into the puter she put in the wrong room no# and we couldn't find the room, it didn't exsist. So after dragging our luggage from one fl to another my husband returned to the desk and was talking to the lady that org. put us in the room the manager walked up . She was having trouble deleteing one room and adding us to another and literally blew up because the manager was trying to help her. He then told her to see him upstairs as soon as she was done and told her to upgrade us to room 2034. We org. had a GV room, he upgraded us after the episode to a LV! She didn't blow at my husband but at the Manager for looking over her shoulder while she was having this trouble with the puter. My DH was very nice the entire time and at this point we would of been happy with any room as long as we didn't have to keep going from rm to rm. Up until this past Thursday (the 5th) the longhouse was pretty deserted. Maybe 20-30 families in the entire longhouse. Thur. it picked up some. In fact we were the only ones on the smoking fl up until Wed. BTW the smoking fl is the second fl the right side of the building I think the rms are 2029-2049. The Tahiti building is a treck to everything accept the TTC. I sorely missed being in Hawaii. I have some pics of the new concierge area and the work being started on Hawaii I will try to post here tomorrow. The first two nights we were there Chef Dick was off and you could tell it. The food this time wasn't up to the usual we experianced in Hawaii but at least when Chef Dick was there it was good and the presentation was nice. One night, Wed, at 8pm the desserts/drinks were still not out. Don't know if they ever put them out we had to leave for Fantasmic late showing.
There were a few people that were not happy with the move to Tahiti, one couple were even raising their voices in the concierge desk area. I don't know what happened with their situation but I can assume they were moved to a closer building.
We enjoyed our stay but I really missed the location and veiw of the Hawaii building. The view from Tahiti is good for the castle, GF etc but you don't have a good view of the water parade and there is no piped in music for the fireworks on the beach in front of Tahiti. The fireworks to me need the music for the magic. I will do a full report tomorrow but for now I have some washing to do and a bday party for my neice to get in gear for.
:)

Thanks for the quick update. Did your niece love Disney? I hope it was a great experience for her.

Overall, would you suggest trying a different resort for concierge during the rehab? It does not sound like a glowing report and I have been apprehensive about my decision ever since I heard that the concierge would be moved to a temporary location.

I sure hope they have the "bugs" worked out before this Friday. DS, my sister and I are making our first visit to Polynesian Concierge because of all the good things I've heard about it. We've stayed at the Poly 3 other times, but not concierge.

DNSDisney: I hope you post your trip report before we leave on Friday!

I've never seen a concierge CM come unglued at his/her boss! How uncomfortable that must have been for you. It's got to be a very stressful situation for everyone and usually those concierge CMs are pretty calm and controlled.

I'm with you wdw4us2--hope they get those bugs worked out by Friday a.m. when we arrive, too. It still boggles my mind that they put a smoking optional floor between two NS floors--and on the check-in floor, too?! I realize they wouldn't want it on 3rd (food), but 2nd--strange thought process there I guess.

Thanks for the information.

crs7568-Thanks for asking, Yes my niece loved everything about the parks and the Polynesian!
For myself being disappointed in any way with the Poly is a hard pill to swollow, but it wasn't up to par this trip in many ways. I think the choice to go with the Poly concierge or another is an indiviual choice. I would say if you don't mind a bit of extra walking and not having the piped in music go for it. If being in the middle of the excitement of the resort (which i think Hawaii allows) is important to you then try a different one this time around or split your stay.
WDW4us2- as soon as I finish this post I am going over to post my report:)
Tess- We have stayed a few times at the Poly concierge and have never had any problems I truely think the stress/ pressure the concierge was under with the move and adjustments must be the reason for all the difficulties. Never before have we had anyone act unprofessional like this stay.
With the smoking op fl you have to realize that they have glass doors at the end of each hall (where the lobby is, concierge desk is and where the food is) . The building is almost like having two longhouses together with a common area in the middle on all three floors. You don't get any smoke smell in the hall areas at all.
Also my guess is that the building is so large that they think they won't have to use the third fl of that wing often.
I am off to start writing my report............................:)

Am I the only one who is having trouble linking to the pictures?

Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong?

I'd love to see the pictures.

Thanks for your report and pictures!

We're due there the last week of July, so hopefully they will have a lot of the issues worked out by then.

We're really exited to be back.

Thanks for the report and pictures. We are looking forward to our stay here over the 4th of July. Sure hope concierge has all the kinks worked out by then so I don't regret leaving the AKL.

Glad to see that you and your family had a great visit to Disney. I have read your first two trip report posts and it looks like you were having a great time. Me and my family will be checking into the Poly this Friday for our first stay. Would you say that except for the problems you encountered with the coincerage that you were otherwise still happy with this resort or did it leave an overall bad feeling for you this trip. We are in GV and not in coincerage but am wondering if we made the right decision to stay at the Poly this trip? Any thoughts that you have to calm me would greatly be appreciated:)

Also how was the weather for you??

Thanks in advance!!

Thanks for the pictures and report. We are thinking of the Polynesian for our next trip so I love reading about it now!

IndyMom1- we have stayed several times at the poly and out of all the times this is the only time we have ever had a really disappointing feeling at all. I think it is partly me, I love the location of the Hawaii building and I didn't realize that the music isn't piped in down by Tahiti. The Poly as a whole wasn't the problem and we keep going back so that must say something:p
Don't worry about your choice, you made a good one. You might want to request a building close to the GCH if you like to be close to everything as I do. Samoa is good for that so is Figi from my understanding and some of both of those building have a partical lv. The volcano pool was only crowded on Tues the week we were there and the rest of the week was great. The weather was great for us as well. The last three days we got rain but only one of those were a downpour that lasted about 3 hrs or more. On that day we just rested and ordered room service pizza (about 17.00 for a 16 inch cheese) . Ended up being about the cheapest meal we had LOL. And there Pizza is very good.
So don't worry be happy :p

Your DD and DN are perfect princesses. The picture reminds me of one in our DVC materials of two young girls having breakfast in bed.
That is my 5 year old DD favorive picture, She always tells me that is what she wants to do at Disney World. Although I suspect she imagines the girl next to her will be Cinderella herself!:D

It looks like your girls were having a "magical" time. Were those special housekeeping decorations visable in the picture, or had the girls themselves done the decorating?
Tammy

Thanks for the update and the pictures! We are going in mid- July!

Tammydel- The girls started sort of collecting lai's they give out. They had 4 different colors each and mine and DH's and they decorated their bed with them. We did have the gifts that I ordered for them in our first room when we arrived and concierge added some goodies into those. Also while we were there concierge sent DH and I a bottle of champaine, choc treats, and a white choc mickey and minnie for our annv.
This is the first time anything like this has happened for us. I guess after the rocky start they wanted to add as much magic as possible. We never did drink it, we brought it home with us and decided to open it on the exact day (which is the 25th) .
The girls loved being princesses, and even at 11 you could see the magic in their faces when we had bfast with the princesses in Norway. BTW Cindy was at the bfast in Norway!! I had heard she didn't do that bfast but she was there the day we were!
Every girl (no matter what age) is a princess while at disney, maybe that is part of why I love it soooo much :p

I am curious about having suprises for the kids left by concierge before you arrive. I would love to do some sort of tropical themed presents - I'll call concierge - but does anyone have any specific ideas? Sorta resort specific type things. Do they have little girl grass skirts?
I am going with a friend, collectivly we have
boy 6, boy 6, girl 5 and girl 1
Any ideas?

DNSDISNEY - Wow about Cindy in Norway! - have you posted that over on resturants?!?
From another Princess!!!!;)

Great photos DNSDisney.

Thanks

Steve

Tammy- they do have little grass skirts in the gift shop at the GCH
I even think it comes with a bikini and a lei with it. They put our gifts in a sand bucket and added some mickey sweet treats for the girls. They also added activity book with markers and stickers. At 11 you would of thought the girls would of poop pooped them but think again, no way. They sat there and colored like they were 6 yr old :p
I haven't written a rest report. I am having trouble just finishing my reg report lol. Life gets in the way of my Dissing you know LOL

Tikiman - Mahalo , we love taking photos of the Poly. It is just so beautiful. After this visit it is begining to feel like our disney home.

Aloha

Sharon
