Back from our very first trip to WDW!!!

Thank you all for your kind words. I have never done a trip report before and since I only post here, I will just post a little info here. I am not sure how much information you all really want to hear.

For today, here are pictures of all the things we made for the trip!

Here is a picture of the window clings we made... I was sure to paint them with the white (vinyl? - I'll need to find the can to let you know for sure) spray paint so that the white areas were white and not clear.

Credit for the license plate design is Telynn, the DIS design and Star Wars Weekends design is Dom13, the nametag is ImTooExcitedToSleep, the family at the top is Leonsmom (now Tracie is customizing these), the group one at the bottom is one of my former Disney designs and the remainder of the designs are donatalie.

Kid's Journals - Cover was made my orchjoe (I did personalization) and the back cover was using Joe's design and Andrea Mosaic software. It was a mosaic of all of my favorite Disney pictures of the past. All of the inside pages were Natalie's (Thank you so much for working so hard to get them done in time for my trip!)

These were the mints we made to share in the park. Credit goes to Telynn for the original mint matchbook idea! I made one (the ones on white and tan) to give to the Castmembers that went with the celebration theme - some graphics were 'borrowed' from Natalie. The second set were the dalmatian ones. We made these for a sort of scavenger hunt. The mints said "you have been spotted". Anytime we saw any designs from the boards, we would give them a mint. More on this later...

mints.jpg

Our penny tubes and DIS badges... We made the large tubes but I would suggest if you have more then one child to make the smaller ones. They were so heavy that I only carried one at a time. The badges were just printed to paper and covered with clear contact paper, then hole punched and attached to my bag. Credit for the designs go to Natalie.

misc.jpg

Mousekeeping Envelopes - Credit goes to Bayou Mickey and Natalie. The only one that I am unsure of is the one on the top left. This belongs to someone else, please speak up if it is yours.

Epcot passports - credit goes to Natalie

Planning Book - Credit for cover design goes to Natalie. I had it sectioned off in general information in the front and then individual parks in their own section. It included all planning information and numbers, Some tips I wanted to remember from the boards, maps, dining suggestions and menus, blank pages to keep some notes on the trip, etc.. It was the size of 1/4 sheet of paper.

Shirts in next post...

Hi,
Amy can you please tell me what vinyl paint you used for your clings?

Your clings looked great!!
Thanks!

The window clings themselves I bought from Staples. I think they were about 10 sheets for around $15.00.

The white spray I used, I bought from Home Depot. The spray was made by Rust-oleum and was a white "Vinyl" spray - made for vinyl and fabric.

Trying to help answer the question...:thumbsup2

Hi there, Amy!!

I used your awesome transfers...I am still getting the hang of this stuff. But I made my dog a shirt.

She is going with me to Magic Meets in PA in August...so she needed some Disney! :)

Day 6 and Day 8 Picture Highlights...

(Since Day 5 and Day 7 were water days, we didn't take any pictures)

June 5 - Final Day

Well the plans for today were: get up, get ready, get packed up and checked out. Then we were going to finish wandering around the hotel, eat, shop, play in the arcade, etc before our 2:30 pick up with Magical Express.

PLANS CHANGED...........................................................................

I woke up about 6:00 am with my DS saying he didn't feel well. Well if you are a parent (especially a mother) you just know when those words mean business. I rushed him into the bathroom. Long story short, he was (how do I say this nicely) throwing up. My hubby woke up and took a turn with him in the bathroom while I quickly looked for the travel insurance packet. I just kept thinking that there is no way I can put my child on a 4 1/2 hour plane ride like this - not for other people to deal with or for his own comfort level. As I poured over the packet, I could not find anything that told me about just being sick and what to do. I laid in bed and just started praying that somehow he would be OK by the time we had to leave. After he was sick a couple of times, he went back to bed and I got in the shower and got ready.

The morning was crazy with getting ready, packing up and attending to my DS once more. My DD didn't make things easy either - she has (like me) a true aversion to anyone getting sick. Almost Obsessively. So dealing with her was an issue as well. Ipods sometimes are a beautiful thing!

After getting ready, I figured I better stop in at the desk and ask if we could have our room until it was time for our ME pickup. After explaining the situation, the gal extended our room until 2:30. I told her if DS started feeling better and we could get out of the room early, I would let her know.

By the time I got back to the room, DS looked like he was feeling better so we popped him in the shower. Afterwards, he sat at a chair next to the bed and layed his head down on the bed. He then fell asleep like that - watching TV. My poor sick baby. We, hubby and I, continued to pack and DD sat with her headphones in her ears.

As we were packing up, I came to the stash of rain ponchos that I had bought (which we just never used). I had about 20 of them. I did not want to bring them home - because it just doesn't rain here - plus I needed the room in my luggage for all the things we bought. I could not bring myself to just throw them out so my DD and I decided we would give them away.

We headed downstairs to the lobby. I approached someone in the lobby and asked if they wanted some - they said no. I wasn't sure if they thought I was selling them or if they just didn't speak English, so we left them. DD and I thought that maybe out by the buses would be a better spot to hand them out. We came to the first line and I said just loud enough for everyone to hear (but not yelling) "does anyone need rain ponchos?" Someone asked what I wanted for them. I said, "nothing". They looked at me like I was crazy and then very reluctantly said OK. It only took us about 3 minutes to give them all away. It felt really good to help so many people and just do a nice thing.

We then headed back up to the room and DS was awake. He was starting to act normal and said he felt OK. We finished packing and ME came to pick up our luggage. We finished up in the room and asked DS if we should get something to eat. (It had been 3 or more hours since he was sick and he seemed to be fine) He said yes, so we all headed downstairs.

I went to the lobby and informed the front desk that my DS was feeling fine and that we were indeed out of our room. This was at around 11:00 - so we actually checked out on time.

I was very cautious about DS eating. I insisted he eat slowly and not overdo it so I could see how he would hold things down. I was lucky and found a CM at one of the grills who could give us some saltine crackers. He ate a couple of packages of that and a few grapes - only because he was begging.

After we all ate, we headed into the store Everything Pop to do some last minute shopping. DS felt a little tired so hubby sat with him in the lobby and let him lay on his lap. It was about then that I thought maybe I should have kept our room a little longer. DS was not sick by this point, just tired. In fact, I kept thinking about all he had consumed the day before and whether that had anything to do with this. I am still unsure.

After DD and I shopped, we met back up with them in the lobby. DS was awake and feeling fine. We decided to play a few games in the game room. Walking around the resort was out of the question because I wanted to play really low key but thought a few games would be OK. When we were done in the game room, we realized that it had started to rain. Not sprinkle, but really rain. Boy was it coming down. It was at this point that I felt really good about all those ponchos we had given away.

DS and I sat in the lobby. He layed his head in my lap and just relaxed. DD and hubby fooled around outside looking at the rain and chatting with the valet CM's. We knew we didn't have too long before ME (1/2 hour, I think).

As we sat in the lobby, I saw a man approaching wearing one of my designs. I had to do a double take. I could not believe it! I had our carryons on the floor next to us and my DS in my lap. I quickly got up and tried to get close enough to the man to get his attention. By the time I approached him, he and his daughter were walking up to the desk. I certainly could not be rude -so I sat back down with DS, thinking I would wait until the man was done at the window and try again. When he was done at the window, I again got up and walked toward him. He was walking away from me quickly. He and his daughter turned left toward the buses and I could not get caught up to them. I was certainly not going to leave my DS - so no running for me. Oh well, it was enough just to see one of my designs "IN ACTION"! Very cool!

For the next half hour or so, DS and I sat in the lobby (he dozed off once for awhile) and DD and hubby played outside. Then right before ME arrived, DS woke up and again acted fine. In fact, from this point on he WAS fine. He acted normally, ate normally and didn't nap again. Very strange - but I was certainly not complaining my prayers had been answered.

We took ME back to the airport, ate lunch before taking off and had an uneventful flight. I do have to say that the flight in general was pretty turbulent but nothing too crazy. As we landed, it felt so good to be home (well a lot hotter than Florida) but good just the same. We all had a great time on our trip but it is always nice to be home.

Well, I just had the bestest time reading your report. I wish I had the "whatever it takes" to get it together and write a trip report. I am going to try real hard in August as the trip will be with DH and be very laid back. LOL Plus, he takes so many unusual pictures, that would be nice. Anyway, I loved your report and read every word of it. I feel like I know your children better. You are smaller than I imagined you to be. I am not sure what I thought you looked like :confused3:lmao:, But you are a tiny little thing. :goodvibes Be that as it may, you have a lovely family, the kidlets are great and sound very well behaved. Thanks again for writing such a great report. Penny:flower3:

Kelly could you do to me the celebraterainbown with the following names:

I am so glad to know that people have been reading along.

I am only 5'2" and hubby towers over me at 6'3". As you can see in the pictures, the children definitely got hubby's tall gene (which makes me happy). I jokingly told DD a year ago when we started planning the trip that we would not be able to go to WDW if she got taller than me - then she did and it really became a joke.

Thanks for the compliment about my family. My children really are well behaved (of course they have their moments) but as a general rule, they are really good kids. I am very lucky!

I would love to make one of these for our trip, can you give me some tips on how you did it? What info did you include?

Me too...the size of this looks so convenient and nice for the backpack!!!

The size was roughly a 1/4 sheet of paper. (5 1/2 x 4 1/4) It was the perfect size to fit in my bag. I only carried a small backpack thing. It was an Overland Donner bag. Here is a link...

http://www.overlandequipment.com/product/594011

Mine looked a little different in color (one solid color - brown - with no coordinating color like is pictured) I loved the size of the bag and that it could be worn like a purse or across the shoulder like a bag - so hubby could hold it at times too. The other wonderful feature is that a water bottle fits perfectly in the side pockets.

Sorry about all the info on the bag but I just wanted to show how nicely it fit in my small-ish bag.

The info I included was:

If found... page
Airline Info - phone number, confirmation #, details etc...
Hotel Info - same
Weather
Day schedule (3 days / page) at a glance - this included tentative general schedule and times for meals, etc. (4 pages to accomodate 10 day trip)
Day scedule ( 1 day / page) included same info from above to the left and a blank area to the right to fill in highlights at night after returning to the hotel. I knew with a 10 day trip it would all start to blur together. (10 pages)
Calendar with Park Hours and Parade/Event times
Crowd predictions (recommended/not recommended) from touringplans.com in case I decided to change plans any day
Daily list of what to bring
Dining Tracker - dining plan
Dining confirmation numbers
General Tips - from the boards
Transportation tips for unusual times - like to dining/resorts (2 pages)
Similar / Same rides to Disneyland so we could do these only after doing what would be new to us.
Fairy Godmailer info

Then from there I had a section for each park, water park and downtown Disney that included:
Map
Park Tips - from the boards
Fast Pass Rides
Dining Choices
Confirmed Snacks
Counter Service Menus - from Natalie
and a couple note pages in the back of each section

I hope that this is not too much information. I did not use everything in my book but my book was quite the lifesaver for me. I had it out a lot. With this being our first time, it really helped me to remember different things I had read here on the boards and researched at home.

This is not Kellybell's thread. You would need to request this in her thread called "Kellybell Designs"

Day 9 - Picture Highlights

Given the craziness of Day 10 - we only took two pictures, so there won't be Day 10 highlights either. Sorry!
