My DH and I drove to Disneyland from the Seattle area. We have annual passes, but this is our first trip this year. It took us 2 days to get down there, and we really enjoyed our drive. The weather was beautiful, although a bit hot! Our first two days there it was 102 degrees! We had to hit the mall on Sunday to find Air conditioning.

We have been to DL 4 times since the YOAMD started and have never been dreamed. We have seen the dream cast members, but never were able to find them when they were passing things out. We missed getting ears on BTMRR by about 10 minutes this trip! It was our last day there, and we had decided to do the Walk in Walt's footsteps tour. We were on our way back to the tour center when I spotted two passes sitting on a park bench near the train station. There were no people around so I picked them up. I took them to city hall and told the girl that I found them on a bench and wanted to make sure that no one had lost them. She left for a few minutes, came back with a different cast member, and said that since I turned them in, they wanted us to also have two passes for the night! I was SO excited! They were the extra hour in the park passes. That is my ultimate dream, to be in Disneyland after closing, so I was so excited! They had us all go to Thunder Mt. Ranch at closing, and had a DJ playing music, and had us play games. At 8:30 they let us loose in the park. We rode Space Mt, Thunder Mt, and Splash Mt. with no lines! Then we just took a while to walk around the park and take it all in. There were really very few people there and it felt like we had the entire park to ourselves! It was so wonderful, it really was a dream come true for me. Of course I wish that it had been a little longer than one hour, it's hard to do much in that amount of time if you are crossing the park to ride different rides, but it was still something very special!

Just wanted to share. I know there are a few others that were dreamed that night as well (5/1).

Our hotel was great, we always stay at the Sheraon Park. We take the Anaheim Resort Transit and it's very convienent.

This was a fantastic trip for us, it's always so hard to leave!

Awesome! Just wondering what gas cost you for the drive and where you made your stops? We are contemplating driving down from Vancouver.

I would love to know this too. My DH said we had to fly and I really would have like to have drive. I hate flying. It's not fun anymore. :headache:

Thanks everyone! I really thought it was kind of extra special as well.

As for the cost, we own a medium size SUV so we didn't get fantastic gas mileage. We averaged 22MPG on the freeway. It cost us around $470 total for gas, but we did drive around Orange County a bit. (South Coast Plaza, dinners, etc.)

We left Friday morning at 7AM and it took us about 13 hours to get to Sacramento. We stayed there the first night, then it was a nice quick 6 hour drive down to Disneyland the second day.

On our way home we went back to Sacramento the first night, then stayed in Salem, OR the second night. We wanted to shop in OR tax free on our way home so that's why we didn't make it all the way back the second day! We took 10 days total and were in Anaheim 6 nights. It was great, we really enjoyed driving. I used to drive down every year, but my DH had never driven before. He really liked it as well. We could go at our own pace, and stop and do other things if we wanted. He doesn't like to fly anymore either, so it was good. I'd say just be sure to pack a cooler and some water!

We are thinking of driving in Oct. but the weather would be iffy then. Shasta can get pretty snowy in the winter, so we'll see!

Howdy, neighbor! (I live near Silver Lake, but I work (and grew up) in Lynnwood!)

I'd just like to say that I think you guys are a terrific example of honesty-- turning in those fastpasses instead of just using them yourselves. You could have taken them and run. It gives me new confidence in the human race. I'm so glad they appreciated it! You rock! :worship:

And it sounds like a super fun dream... I'd love to run around a nearly empty park! Wow! Good for you! :cool1:

You are close! We live in Edmonds, but I work all over the area. (Real Estate) It's nice to see other DIS'ers in the area!

And thanks for the nice comments

Sounds like you had a great trip!

Good for you for turning in those passes!:goodvibes

I had no idea that was an option for the Dreams...that would be AWESOME!

that is AWESOME and we aren't really neighbors, but I live in Oak Harbor:yay: and we are planning on driving down the end of July/begining of Aug...we have a minivan so our gas mileage will probably be about the same...but I do know that it will be chaeper than the 4 of us flying...we are also going to stop in Yosemite and stay 2 nights and do a horseback riding trip...nice to know the weather is nice, sure it will be scorching when we drive...again that is AWESOME!:thumbsup2

Wow, that is so cool! I'd just love to get that dream too, and how neat to be dreamed as a reward for a good deed!

Good for you, it is nice to hear that honorable actions are rewarded at DL!

Don't feel bad about not being dreamed, we have been probably 30 times since the promotion started and we've never had the dream treatment thrown our way!

We were thinking about driving down from Vancouver, but when we go next time it will be atleast 3 adults maybe 4 and 3 kids aged 1,3,5 so we were thinking and it would be atleast 3 days driving, and we would probley need to rent a motorhome, so for all that trouble it would probley be eaisier to fly!!! But i do hope once the kids are older and my DH can go that we will drive down!!! I'm so glad they gave you something for returning the passes!!! It feels great to do something nice and then to be rewarded makes it even better!!!

Congrats on the Dream! :goodvibes Honesty is the best policy they say. Also, thanks for the info on gas cost, drive time, etc. We're driving down from Oregon in August, so it's nice to have some cost info before we go.
