We stayed onsite at Disney, but did a day at Universal. Because it was 40 degrees below zero, we were able to walk onto everything except Rip Ride Rocket. My adult kids loved this ride, but I was not so thrilled. I found it pretty rough. But, the worst part was that I did not have my glasses on, so I could not see the screen to choose my music. So, they chose for me, and they chose Rap. Now, there are very few things in this world that could make me want to rip off my lap belt and plummet to the earth, but even 2 seconds of Rap music makes me want to end my life just to get away from it. So, being stuck on there with Rap music blasting in my ears was enough to make me go nuts! I would spill all our national secrets to any interrogator rather than be exposed to that. So....I was not willing to ride it again, because I was afraid to leave my glasses on, because they might fly off, and I wasn't willing to risk another Rappy ride!! I was hoping for Charley Daniels, and I have no idea who I got, but it was torture!:lmao::lmao:

Glad you had a good time in the arctic cold we experienced that week.

I trust a full trip report is coming?

I personally didn't think much of Universal.
Last time I was there was 10 years ago and to be honest, it's much the same.

The Simpsons ride was fun. Around 20 mins to wait for that.

MIB - walked straight on by using the single riders line. Found it boring andnot a patch on Toy Story Mania.

Jaws - RIP it please! Awful excuse for an attraction and so so dated.

The Mummy - thought this was a nice gentle simulator ride. Put my bag in a locker and popped straight onto it. Spent half the ride about a foot above my seat as the safety bar was not holding me down and also being thrown side to side by the sharp turns. Had a sore neck and back for days after that - those seats are curved outwards so there's no way you can sit back against them without them digging into your back.
Also lost my camera on this ride. Forgot to take it out of my pocket and it went flying at some point during the drops. Naturally, Universal staff haven't found it after a week - excuses about "it must have fallen into an area we check infrequently" but I'm putting odds on it being in someone's pocket.

Rip-ride Rocket. 75min wait times constantly on this. When you're nervous about riding it, standing in a queue for over an hour doesn't help!

Various shows. Beetlejuice was fun although some peoiple did walk out early. Blues Brothers were OK. Shrek 4D wasn't a patch on some of the disney ones but ok all the same.

To be honest, it's even mopre expensive than Disney, less signposting, not impressed as much by the characters, although it was quieter and easier to get on some things. Some of the shows werre a bit spread out as well. The Terminator one had quite a gap between the one I just missed and the next nearer to park closing.

Glad you had a blast. Universal is my favorite of all the Orlando parks. I don't think I'd want to do IOA in the freezing cold, though.

:)

Wow there STILL over an hour wait for R3??? I sure hope they fix it soon!!!

:lmao: This post is hilarious and I'm glad you otherwise had a great time.

I've worked at Lost and Found off and on for 3 years and I can assure you that numerous cameras come in from the Mummy almost daily, as do wallets, iPhones, and other expensive items. If your camera flew off, I doubt if it would be in any shape that someone would want to pocket it. The staff that walks the track are very thorough and certainly wouldn't want to lose their jobs over a camera, which is most likely broken anyway.

There are several places that cameras and other items are unretrievable: one is an oil and water pit and another is under a track that has motorized parts that essentially will grind up anything. There is a reason that people are warned by both the signs, video, and team members to store all lose items. A camera lost on MIB or Cat in the Hat will probably be alright but a camera lost on Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Ripsaw, and Popeye and Bluto will most likely be toast. Hopefully, your camera did not fall into the oil pit and will be found so you can get the memory card out.

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 The Mummy a nice simulator ride?:confused3 I guess all the signs saying it is a roller coaster didn't mean much.

I know and that's what I was thinking when I read that post. It's pretty clear what you're getting into when you ride the Mummy. Especially when you try out the test seat in front of the building and see the warning signs about who and why shouldn't ride this attraction. :scared1:

I'm all for a trip report but why come on someone else's post who enjoyed their trip and express all the things you disliked about yours? :confused3

Ok I'm going to reveal my stupidity here. My dd was begging to go on so I did without really looking at the signs. She said, "It goes fast". I'm like yeah yeah. So we go on and it seemed ok. Then I got the carpet pulled out from under me.:lmao::lmao: When we got off I said why didn't you tell me it was a rollercoaster? HAHAHAHAHA. She said, "I told you it was fast." I said, "but you know I don't listen to you.":rotfl2: We still laugh about that, but I don't mind coasters. Just wasn't ready.

Glad you checked Universal out and reported. It'll get more family-friendly once Charly Daniels releases an upcoming rap album!

The Mummy is a simulator ride? Wow, they must do an INCREDIBLE job...the whole time I thought it was a real rollercoaster!
