I embarked on my first Solo trip in December, the 3rd through the 11th.

Just wanted to let anyone who's considering it know that you should definitely DO IT! I hemmed and hawed after all my potential travelling companions dropped out, but finally decided the hell with it, I'm going anyway.

I had a wonderful trip, and rarely felt uncomfortable traveling by myself (I will admit sit down meals were a little weird at times.); in fact, it was SO freeing to come and go as I pleased without worrying about anyone else.

A little more info, I've been to Disney many times over the last decade, so it's a place I'm very comfortable traveling to anyway, but I had never taken a trip this long solo before.

Awesome to know. I've always played with the idea but never actually followed through with it.

Glad you had fun! I took my second solo trip in November and it was even better than the first one. Hopefully I'll take my third solo trip next year!

Loved my solo trip too! So much so, that I kinda cringe at the thought of taking my entire family of 7!! :rolleyes1
Looking forward to traveling with my 12yo son for his birthday surprise trip in April though. It'll be his 2nd visit, but he was only 4 the last time we went, so this will be all new for him.
For anybody on the fence about going solo, DO IT! You won't regret it!

So awesome to hear! I always get questioned about my solo trips & why/how I do it alone. My answer is always why not?? The feeling of freedom & doing whatever, whenever you want is great! :moped:

It's always nice to see others who may have been reluctant to go solo at WDW come back with positive experiences to share!

Agreed. Trips without the encumbrance of worrying about what other folks want to do can be the best thing ever... ;)

yes indeed. I had so much fun on my solo trip, I cant wait for the next one. Its seriously worth it! :goodvibes: Now if youre an extremely shy person who is nervous at the thought of being alone, you might have issues. I know a girl who was extremely shy and had a hard time alone. In that case, i'd probably just do a short trip.....a couple of nights.

I'm looking forward to my first solo trip at the end of February/beginning of March. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

This can be a real challenge for folks that haven't ever spent much time alone. Even for someone who greatly values their solitude most of the time (me), simple things like eating in a restaurant or going to a movie alone can be hard at first. Especially if you have been accustomed to doing those things in the company of others for long periods of time. The upside is that it does get easier, and you become much more comfortable 'in your own skin', and it's a very liberating experience at the end of the day. You start enjoying things even more, alone OR in the company of others, and you no longer feel confined by either situation. Best of both worlds, in my humble opinion.

I'm a bit of a solo trip addict, my first was in February 2009 and I've done 10 to WDW and 2 to Disneyland. It is nice to do what you want when you want and I agree, I find TS sit down meals can be a bit uncomfortable (except breakfast at The Wave) I suppose people are wondering why you are on your own. I've done the Luau and Hoop Dee Doo on my own and my only complaint (if there was one) was the amount of food, they don't have many single people doing them, I ate so much of the food at Hoop Dee Doo I could barely eat my Shortcake, now that is tough.

You know I went to Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner without knowing that the dinner is family style. I considered staying, but I ended up giving up my reservation and eating a Jiko. I was hungry, but not family style hungry. I really have no trouble eating alone; the service is just as great and I usually do some news reading on my phone. How was it traveling to Disneyland as a solo traveler? I'm trying to get my cousin or a friend to go with my out to California in 2017, but it doesn't look good. I don't mind the drive to WDW, but traveling solo out to California seems a tad bit nerve wracking. Thanks in advance.

I'm at my first solo trip at the same time 2/24-2/29. I'm looking forward the the experience but I completely understand the nerves too.
