Wow... what an exhausting, exciting trip we had!

We were gone from 5AM the Friday before last, until last night at 9:30 exactly, when we pulled back into the Boys & Girls Club. That was a LOT of bus riding! We saw some AMAZING things, and some boring things, and some things we didn't expect to! We went through VA, NJ, PA, NY and a little bit of CT, and those 53 kids are so packed full of history now they should be all set for years to come ;)

My favorite things were: Medeival Times; WOW what a fun show that was, and the chicken they served was just deeeelish, and SO tender! :lovestruc We also got to go walk through Times Square at night, and I must say, we country bumpkins were completely BLOWN AWAY by the lights and colors and sights... Wow. The Ford's Theater/Peterson House was quite interesting; the Holocaust Museum was pretty intense. DD and I both cried, as did her best (male) friend. Chinatown was pretty cool if you could ignore the fish smell, eww... the vegetbles and fruits they had on display were SO beautiful and fresh looking! I wish I had been able to do some grocery shopping!!

I had two 14 year old boys in my "group"; they were pretty well behaved, except the fact that waking up at 6AM did NOT agree with either of them  Luckily I'm VERY good at waking people up in the morning. ;) And I've GOT to ask... do ALL boys of that age not bother to flush, or close the bathroom door?? Yeesh!!

There were a couple of boys on the tour that were pretty difficult; one of them is a kid that NOONE likes, since he goes out of his way to be as annoying as possible. I had to speak sternly to him several times, and his father was even on the trip! At first I hesitated to say anything, but by the end of the trip it was obvious that nothing was going to be done otherwise, so I had to read him the riot act. The other was a "girl collector". He made a point to go around to all of the girls (including MINE!) and flirt OUTRAGEOUSLY with them. Ugh, I wanted to toss that kid out the bus window by the third day. Luckily he was from the other school that went, so he didn't interact with us ALL that much. DD was annoyed with me for "being mean" to him, but a couple of the other moms heard her, and all three of us reassured DD that I wasn't being mean, and that he was in fact being a little wanna-be Casanova. :crazy2:

The Leader of the tour kept making me his assistant leader, which was very cool that he thought I was responsible enough, but I had to make sure he was very aware that I get lost in a closet, so that he wouldn't have me lead something that relied on maps... :lmao:

So yeah, that was quite an experience, both educational and otherwise! I'm so glad to be back, and it was HEAVEN to sleep in my own bed last night! :cloud9:
