Hello All ~ We returned from GWL this afternoon!
REVIEW:
Accomodations: Whirlpool/Fireplace Room [king bed, jacuzzi in room, pull-out sofa, fireplace, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, two TV's]
Excellent room with lots of space my my family, dh, myself, dd14 & ds8. Got a $159.00 promo rate with a code I found on the GWL website.
Check In: Very busy at 12:40pm when we arrived...but it really only took about 30 minutes to check in. Our room was READY even thou check in true time is 4pm. Next time I plan to arrive at check in before 11am.
Lobby: Very Disney-esque in the way that it looked like a mini-Wilderness Lodge. Small atrium with animatronic forest creatures with nature sounds. Large fireplace, gift shop, couple of restaurants & coffee counter. Story time in the evening was busy and really only entertaining for toddlers and their parents. My kids weren't interested....once you meet Mickey Mouse, this was quaintly borish for my crew.
Waterpark: Very busy at 1pm. But not so busy at 6pm. Busy this morning at 10:30am. LOTS of great slides and pools. Definately worth another visit.
Restaurants: We didn't eat at the GWL restaurants since they were buffets and we didn't feel like buffet and read bad reviews. We did get a muffin and bagel for breakky this morning and it was good.
Off-site Restaurants: We went to Basell's on Victoria and it was sweet. 50's type diner with good food, good prices and nice staff. We had lunch at the Flying Saucer on Lundy's Lane. I was surprised how great it was. Very good food at FANTANIC prices. $2.99 for bacon & eggs, sandwiches until $7.00 including slaw and fries. Very good deal in a cute atmosphere. It reminded me of Space Mountain entrance.
All in all it was a nice trip for a great February. I'd go again. However, I'd like to try the Fallsview Waterpark too....we have been to the Americana Resort several times too.
Happy Days! Sandra
