We spent one night at Sports before checking into AKL. Our room was in Homerun Hotel and was very clean and in good shape. This was our first stay in an AS and the room didn't really seem any smaller than any other motel. I don't think I would be comfortable in the double beds for a long stay, though. The turbo toilets sounded like a bowling ball hitting the pins. I heard them throughout the night, but I was having trouble sleeping, so I don't know if I they would have woken me. Very nice resort with nice pool areas.
We spent four nights in AKL (room 5020 on Giraffe Trail, pool view). Our room was clean and in good condition. We wanted bunk bed rooms, but the only bunk bed rooms available were in smoking rooms, so we went with the two queens. At feeding time, around 4:00, we saw giraffes out past the pool one day and ankole cattle another day. The kids loved the pool slide and went on it again and again and again. DH had a massage at the fitness center and recommends Rachael. We had a rental car, so I don't know how fast the buses were running. Everything was an easy drive from AKL.
We originally had reservations at WL, but there were no rooms available at the postcard rate so we switched to AKL. We made the mistake of going to WL later in the week for dinner and DH and I both wished we had stayed there instead of AKL, despite the price. AKL is a very nice resort, but there is something about WL that appeals to us more. I'm glad we stayed at AKL, and we enjoyed it, but I'm looking forward to staying at WL next time.
