My mom stayed at Kidani with the kids 1 night in a 1 br (amazing) the other nights in a studio. Hubby and I stayed at Jambo in a 1 bedroom Value (sometimes with the little one). We lucked out and got the fabulous parking lot view which is really a bunch of trees and hardly any view of the parking lot. We could have moved to a savanna view value the next day but didn't feel like the hassle. We were fine. The room is a little small but not impossibly so. Jambo and Kidani are both gorgeous. Kidani reminds me of a jewel box. Because it's lobby is smaller, the effect is that the decor is really impactful. Lots of sparkle everywhere. Lot's of art every where. It's just inundated with beautiful fixtures, furnishings and high quality finishes everywhere you look. kidani feels very private and like it is for DVC members only, where as Jambo feels like everyone is there to gawk. Jambo however, is very grand and impressive.

We found no problem getting back and forth between the two resorts as there is a shuttle (van) running back and forth between the buildings constantly so no worries. We used it often.

We normally rent a car from the airport but since this trip was an ammended one, we found the cheapest rates at Enterprize near AKV. We took Magical Express for the first time and were picked up at our resort and at the end of our trip we dropped the car off at Enterprize and were dropped off at AKV to wait for ME. We will do this from now on. ME was a great convenience in so many ways. Not having to deal with luggage, rental car lines, being able to check into our airline at the resort and not seeing our luggage until we got to baggage claim was all wonderful.

We had some issues with the new dining system. We got snacks right away and found that our plan was not showing up. We had linked reservations so they said this was to blame, but on the first night? Anyway, if you are afraid of this happening to you, put a credit card on your room and if it does happen charge your meals back to your room, keep your receipts and concierge will deduct your dining credits and cancel the charges.

We ate at Mara, Sanaa and Boma. Mara was just really for breakfast snacks in the morning. We used many of our snack credits for pastries and fruit.

We went to Sanaa for dinner on Christmas night. It was wonderful. My mother, my sister and I had the sustainable fish which was excellent. My husband had the New York strip which he said was cooked to perfection. He sent it back and they added a little more time to it and it was perfect. My little one had the braised short ribs which she enjoyed (though she eats like a bird). My older girls and my nephew each had the Chicken with red curry sauce and the coconut-curry lamb which they all said were excellent. We had appetizers as well. Many of us had the mustard seed crusted scallops which were just melt in your mouth. My mom and I shared the sampler for two with no pulled duck, just the cauliflower and samosas. The majority of us had Mango Lassi's for drinks which are not at all like the ones you have in Indian restaurants. We all had the dessert sample except mom who had the mango pudding. Service was excellent, setting was stunning.

Boma was delicious as always. It was our last dinner before check out the next day. This time we all seemed to concentrate on the soups and salads. We all really enjoyed the seafood gumbo and the cornbread muffins. The salads are really good and refreshing. We enjoyed the bread pudding and I personally enjoyed the passion fruit desserts and had a few. The frunch juice was excellent as always.

We also ate at Crystal Palace which was good. Ohana was delicious and we saw wishes there. We visited the Wilderness Lodge for the first time and ate at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We all enjoyed the food very much. We went for lunch so it was more subdued but just looking at the lobby in all it's christmas splendor while dining was just lovely. Youngest dd and I had lunch in the castle. Food was marginal, atmosphere was magical. On our HS day, we had lunch at Sci-fi since the girls really wanted to do it and the CS is so lacking there. Everything we had was excellent except for the youngest dd's chicken sandwich ( she wasn't thrilled). The ribs were the best according to my older dd's and the shrimp pasta was very good. The oreo shakes were splendiforous!!! I did't care for the apple crumble but youngest dd's sundae looked yummy and huge!

For CS we ate at Wolfgang Puck Cafe which is by far the best CS on property. We also ate at Captain Cooke's in the Polynesian which is good and has dole whips and the Restaurantasauras (this one isn't great but indoor seating is a plus). We had breakfast pastries and drinks at Casey's corner on our MK morning. It was a darn sight less crowded than Mainstreet Bakery and the cinnamon rolls were just as ginormous.

A few of us got sick or were recovering from an illness. My youngest daughter had just gotten over rotovirus. The difference between roto and noro is the duration, roto lasts longer. Luckily she was done before we left for our trip. None of the rest of us caught it thankfully and she was really a trooper. She developed a cold that she shared with her dad but it wasn't at all bad for her at least. We all were taking emergency immune defense. My dh who went without a coat for a full day at MK and then refused to go home during Epcot EMH finally went down for the count on our HS day and unfortunately had to be wheeled out of the park (apologizing all the way poor sweety). A couple of hours rest and he was able to go to Ohana with us for dinner that same night. He ate a ton and was his old self. I never developed anything nor did one of my oldest, the other had a little cold for maybe a day but I think immune defense kicked it out.

We had one not so magical thing happen. When coming out of Epcot evening EMH on December 24th which ended at 12:30am, when we arrived at the tram pick up location at 12:45pm, the trams had already stop running. Because we were going to Epcot for Evening EMH we arrived late in the afternoon so we were essentially as far back in the parking lot as you could be and we wound up having to walk to our car along with several other families. Luckily my elderly mother was not with us. Needless to say I fired off an email when we arrived home and called guest relations later on that morning. I was assured by the guest relations manager that they would look into it. I will be following up.

Theme Park stroller rentals is excellent. We tend to burn the midnight oil at the parks so our youngest gets really tired. It was excellent to have a stroller delivered to us that worked for a child older than a toddler and was very easy to collapse.

We used the park buses for the first time not purposefully. When DH got sick. We had to take the bus home. Wonder of wonders it was excellent. We all decided to stick with the buses for our next park day that way DH who is a spa princess in the bathroom, could leave later for the parks and us early birds could get on our way without having to wait. It worked brilliantly. We have decided that this is the way to go from now on.

Our older girls did really well seperating from us for periods of time in the parks. They had cellphones and were really responsible about answering them and calling us to let us know where they were. We will give them more freedom to do what they want to do next time and we will do the 'lame' things we want to do and meet up with them from time to time.

The girls really enjoyed community hall at Kidani. They've decided they need a couple of day just for that.

As far as park crowds, we didn't find an issue with them at all. If you get into the parks at opening and start fast passing, you will never wait in any lines. Our longest line was Soarin' at 25 minutes during EMH (last ride of the evening). All other waits were 15 minutes and shorter. Christmas week should not intimidate veterans, early risers who can get in for park opening or morning emh or those willing to go during evening emh. We had a blast and did every major attraction most more than once and plenty of smaller ones. The older girls did splash mountain twice with no wait because of the weather.

It was a magical trip overall. We may be going during Christmas week again if DH's company strikes this year. His company shuts down for 2 weeks around the holidays and if they strike, he won't be able to take a vacation or plan for one except for one during shut down.

If you want to go during the holiday season and have to go during Christmas vacation week because of school schedules, be not afraid. Get in early or go to evening emh and have a list of what you want to do and see and it will not be a problem.:wizard:

We arrived at MK for EMH on December 23rd.

During EMH we did:

Space Mountain
Indy Speedway
Peterpan's Flight
Haunted Mansion

After EMH we did:

Pirate's of the Carribean twice
Splash Mountain twice
Jungle Cruise Twice
Small World
Mickey's Philharmagic twice
Laugh Floor
Space Mountain
We could have done BTRRM with little wait but it went down.

All waits were 5 to 15 minutes. We did use FP's for Space mountain but not for anything else.

The shows we saw at MK were:

Celebrate a dream come true.
Celebrate the seasons.
Cinderella's Holiday Wish
Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Parade.

We took breaks for breakfast and lunch and we did stay until dinner.

Epcot was December 24th for Evening EMH. We arrived around 2:00pm. We picked up FP's for Mission Space.

Before EMH we did:

Captain EO
Turtle talk
Finding Nemo
Mexico Ride
Kim Possible Mission in China
Illuminations

During EMH evening we did
Soarin
Mission Space
Test Track
EO
Character Spot

None with wait times over 20 minutes (do Soarin during Illuminations or last).

We had a long lazy lunch in Norway and spent a lot of time waiting for Illuminations other wise we would have easily been able to get more in.

HS December 26th. We got in about 30 minutes past opening.

We did the following:

Toystory
RnR twice
Tower of Terror thrice.
Great movie ride
The Little mermaid show
American Idol.
Muppet Vision 3D

Our waits here were no more than 10 minutes because of fast pass and doing things early.

We had a long leisurely lunch at Sci-fi and left before the lights and the first Fantasmic.

AK December 27th. This was an evening EMH night and we had no plans of being there for it but this was the only day we could fit AK in.

We got in about 11:00am.

We were able to do the following.

Expedition everest 3 times
Dinosaur twice
It's tough to be a bug
We took the Wildlife Express train to Rafiki's Planet Watch where we met Jimminy Cricket, Rafiki and Pocahatas with very short waits. The kids petted goats and sheep til there hearts were content.

We had no waits beyond 10 minutes thanks to fast pass. We had a long leisurely lunch at Restaurantasauras and stopped for snacks. We could have done shows easily but we left early for dinner and to begin packing.

Thanks for sharing. I was at EPCOT on christmas eve as well. It was a day we kind of screwed up our FastPass options and one where the teenage daughter wanted to sleep in then after waiting for and extra hour told us to go ahead and she'd catch up. That proved to be a killer. However we used the EMH to finally get into Mission to Mars and Soarin with wait times under 20 minutes. Mostly because we skipped the fireworks. However we didn't quite make it to the end of the EMH so I have to hand it to you in getting the most out of your gang.

I have a brother who told me to try Boma but I didn't get a chance. So your review helped me understand his position.

Thanks again for sharing.

Skipping the fireworks is the best way to get Soarin in. They even give out FP's for the evening emh when it first starts so that's the best way to go. So good for you guys for recovering. We did it last because we watched the fireworks (for the 1st time) and by the time we got to Soarin, the wait was over an hour. After midnight, the wait was about 20 to 25 minutes which was great as well.:wizard: I think for evening EMH at Epcot, skip fireworks and do the big three then if you want to, hang out and do other things.

We had an awesome time tricking people into trying the Beverly at Ice Station Cool, by telling them how "delicious" it is.:rotfl:

We were at Kidani from the 23rd to the 29th in a value studio. We had been in OKW from the 18th to the 23rd, and while OKW was a larger room, I prefer Kidani. This was our 2nd trip to Kidani, we had been there back in Aug 09 in a 2 beedroom and love the resort. I just love the resort.

Our kids loved Community Hall as well. Last trip DS spent 3 evenings in Camp Kidani and loved it, and were sad to see that they had eliminated it. A CM told me that she thought they might bring it back in the summer.

Christmas Eve we set up a small christmas tree I had picked up at WalMart one day, and some lights and we decorated the room. Spent some time at Community Hall then went to Epcot around 3. We did a couple rides and a few Kidcott stations, then headed to Germany for a 4:30 dinner. I grabbed one of the Brewer's Collection beers outside, then had a nice liter of Hovels once we got in. We were seated with a very nice family from Orlando and had a very enjoyable meal. After dinner we walked around, had a glass of champagne in France and headed back to the resort around 8. Stitch was in the lobby of Kidani taking pictures in front of the tree wearing a santa hat.

Christmas day in Disney was great. We got up early, opened presents, kids played with their stuff then we went to Epcot for 11. Warmest day of our trip. Walked around hit a couple rides then went to Canada for Christmas dinner (1pm) at LeCellier, which was our first time there. We have tried numerous times to get a ressie unsucessfully, now I know why its so hard to get in. I had the beer/cheese soup and the coffee rubbed steak and they both lived up to my expectations. Loved the fact that you can get a steak on the kids menu, DS said it was the best steak he has ever had and insisted that we all try a piece. Walked around some more, caught a couple of the Christmas Around the World presentations, then went back to the resort around 5. The weather was still pretty warm so we hit the pool where they had set up the 50 foot inflatable screen and were showing Muppet Christmas Carol. We hung out in the pool watching the movie for awhile then went back to the room and got some room service. The Lamb Kefta burger was great. On our last day we went to Sanaa and I got the same thing again, but it was soo much better in the resteraunt.

The 26th was our 11th anniversary so the kids went to Simba's Clubhouse in Jambo while we ate at Jiko. This was our first time at Jiko and I have to say it was amazing. I had the butternut squash soup and the lamb. When we showed up to pick the kids up, they didn't want to leave. Its great to know that we don't need to bring along grandparents for a trip if we want to have a night out now.

Our last day in the parks was the 28th and we hit MK at 9am did a few rides had breakfast at CP at 10, then did more rides and watched the Christmas parade at noon. The new Pooh area is really cool. The kids loved all the interactive stuff there. We weren't planning on staying all day, but we ended up deciding to put our names in at Tony's. With no resservations we were able to get a table in 40 minutes. This provided us a nice rest and we were recharged enough that we decided to stay awhile longer. We caught the Electric Parade then found a spot for Wishes. After that we hit Laugh Floor figuring we'd give it a little time after the fireworks before we hit the bus. Got back to the resort around 11 with two completely tired kids. Our flight wasn't until 4 the next day, so we had plenty of time to pack up the next morning without having to worry about packing the night before leaving.

Overall, it was a phenominal trip. We were able to hit every ride we wanted to atleast once with out more than a 30 minute wait and even then it was only once or twice. DD is finally tall enough that she did a ton of rides for the first time: Test Track, Soarin, Thunder Mt, Splash Mt. DS finally got up the nerve to ride Everest and Space Mt. Both kids were picked by Captain Jack for the Pirate show. DS got to pilot our boat for awhile duirng the Jungle Cruise. Buses were amazing, the only time we were on a bus that people had to stand on was the night we stayed at Epcot for Illumination when everyone left the park at the same time. We actually were the only family on a bus three times during the trip.

I can't wait for the next trip.

sounds like a great trip overall! we prefer to rent a car too and what we do is I use National and am an Emerald aisle club member (you can sign up for free- find the link on the mousesavers web site). you just walk out to the lot, pick a car (keys inside) and load up and drive out. simply show your ID and CC at the security booth on the way out and you are done. No waiting in line at a counter or anything. plus i got a full size for like $150 for a week. not too bad.

then on the way home, we use the resort airline service- you can still have disney handle your luggage and get your boarding pass using the resort airline service- you don't have to use ME with it. so while we had to handle our bags when we arrived, we didn't when we left. we headed down to the RAC area at the contemporary, checked our bags, got our boarding pass and were done. love it! and we were still able to return our car ourselves and not have to use ME (I hate they make you go 3 hours before your flight). rental return is super easy at national too and they even moved it to the first floor of the garage now, so really super convenient!

it sounds like you guys managed the crowds with grace and knowledge!!! makes going at christmas not sound so scary! lol :)

This trip was really last minute in terms of our arrival date so we really had no good prices for rental cars. That's how we wound up with Enterprize near AKV and using ME. We will look into National and Emeral isle for our next trip but will be happy to use Enterprize and ME again if that is the cheapes option. Thanks for the review of National and Emerald aisle club.:wizard:

I have a value studio booked for Feb and I am worried about getting the parking lot view. My big concern is how noisy is it, since you are by the front of the building. Do you hear noise from trucks unloading, etc.

Value does not nesseserily mean parking lot view. We had a value studio and still had a view of the pembe savanna. The savanna in front of our room was not expansive but we were able to see tons of animals just the same.

gerows: There are value studios only in Jambo.

I personally didn't notice any noise. I would have loved to luck out on a savanna view value villa but we were fine. We were in room 5135.
