We stayed Aug. 1-8th in a Savannah view room. Very nice place, fabulous views of the animals. I will do a trip report soon, but thought I'd post here in case anyone had questions.

A BIG thanks to everyone on the Disboards for helping to make this a great vacation!:sunny:

more more tell me more

we leave in 5 weeks and I can't wait - what room did you have?
how was the bus transportation?

thanks!

I am glad you had a good time and can't wait to read your trip report!

We are going this Christmas and can't wait. I guess my one question is would you stay there again, or would you go to a different resort?

We stayed in room 3581, almost the last room on the Uzima trail. The walk was a bear but the view was fabulous! The room had bunkbeds and was a connecting room which we didn't need and because of the door we were short a dresser.
There was a watering hole right outside our balcony and a tree the caretakers attached branches to twice a day for the giraffes. They would stay and eat until every last leaf was gone! There were also Zebras, Ankole cattle and Elands. The animals can move to different areas so sometimes there were a lot of animals sometimes none.

The bus service was good, the longest wait was maybe 10 minutes except e-night which was about 20. The buses were usually full and very full coming back from parks at closeing. The MK has the longest ride which we timed twice, once 17 minutes another 13. Epcot and Blizzard Beach share a bus and Typhoon Lagoon and Downtown Disney share another.

Would we stay there again? Though we really liked the AKL and are BIG animal lovers I think we will try another resort next time. I expected AKL to become my one and only but we still want to look around at others!

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!! Love AKL!

Allison

Can't wait for your trip report. Our first time to AKL is comming soon, now I can't wait. Great to hear about the buses. I was tired of the buses from BC- had to share with BW, YC and Swan and Dolphin. You would think that Deluxe's would each have their own. Looking forward to watching the animals each day. Glad you had a great time.

Any tips for first timers?

Several .

Eat at Boma , a "must do." We absolutely love this restaurant.

Do the Hidden Mickey hunt.

Enjoy the fire pit , especially at story-telling time.

Slow down and relax. AKL is perfect for this !

Enjoy the bus service. Minimal waits, and the bus hardly ever leaves full. Only once during our stay there did we ever have to wait for another bus due to crowding, and we were the first on the next bus. Did I mention that this was after Illuminations, December 31 2003 ?!?

Most of all, enjoy your stay.

Thanks for your tips, Scott.

Have PS for Boma the first nite. Thought the storytelling was for children. We are way over that. :)

Re Mickey Hunt? Do they have a list of ones to look for or should I check out the hidden mickey website?

Any chance you know if the AKL's gameroom change machines take credit cards? My sister says that the change machines at the Wisconsin Dells do which makes the whole getting change experience easier. Perhaps too easy.

Thanks!

Sorry apathasia, I don't know, but my kids enjoyed spending some time there one afternoon.

One comment on the story telling, double check where it will be held. Another family and mine waited outside by the firepit and missed the first few minutes before a CM let us know it had been moved.

Another tip, take breakfast back to your room and eat on the balcony. We really enjoyed doing this! A great start to the day!

:)

Thanks anyway!

Around what time at night is the story telling? That sounds like a lot of fun.

Sheri

During our stay the story telling was @ 7:30 pm.
