Arrived Friday about noon and check in was simple. I had made no requests, but had added my Starwood/AAA number to the reservation. I had booked a standard room with the nurse rate. Our room was not ready but I was encouraged to wait for it as we had been upgraded to a resort view with a balcony. We had planned on going to the parks for a few hours anyway so this was not a big deal. THe staff at the Swan were very friendly, great with my boys. Gave them thier passports without asking and then procceded to stamp them so they could just get ice cream and not run from place to place getting the stamps first. When we retutned a few hours later our room was ready. 5th floor facing the Boardwalk. We did have a slightly obstructed veiw of the fireworks, but it was nice all the same. The room was large and clean, nice decor. The beds were comfortable and we thouroughy enjoyed our stay at the Swan. We had 1 night booked, but on our walk to Epcot that night for Party of the Senses my husband thought it would be nice to stay until Sunday. We phoned right away and were able to add a night for the same rate. I was very pleased and we spent our second day laying by the pool and playing at the Boardwalk. My sons loved the location. Now that they are getting older we are able to give them some more freedom. We even let them go over to Epcot for a few hours by themselves, and were very proud of them for being accountable and returning right on time. We walked over to Epcot that evening to enjoy the Food and Wine fest but so did everyone else in the state of Florida. It was very crowded, like Chrsitmas crowded. There were lines 10-20 deep at most of the stands. We still enjoyed ourselves, watched Illuminations and had a lesiuruly stroll back to the Swan. It is my husbands new favorite hotel (yeah!!). The location cannnot be beat for the money. If anyone has questions I will be happy to answer!

Did you have problems with the temperature in your room at the Swan? We just returned from our stay at the Dolphin and I have to say I've never seen the thermostat setup like they have. When you leave the room it "knows" your not there so it turns off the AC, then when you return it turns back on, forcing you to walk into a balmy warm room... Then at night, oh, it was awful, we were both waking up sweating because the AC apparently didn't think we needed to be cool whilst sleeping... I was up all night pacing to keep the "motion sensor" awake just to stay cool. Upon checkout they asked me if I enjoyed my stay, I told them we loved everything about the hotel except... the AC, apparently we weren't the only ones complaining, she said they had heard similar complaints and were "going to look into the problems".

We loved the location, would definitely stay there again, as long as the AC issue is resolved! :p

The room was always warm and stuffy when we entered, but the AC would come on right away and while we were there it was not a problem. I know my husband had the thremostat set low at night and our second night it was too cold and had to bump it up. The AC was not a problem while we were in the room.

We just made our ressies for two days this summer at the Dolphin before our YC stay. We are real AC freaks!! Have to have it cold! Now this is making me rethink our stay.:crazy2:

We had this motion type sensor AC years ago when we stayed at the Port Orleans Resort, but we called and had them bypass this for our stay so the AC was on all the time.

Can they do this at the Dolphin/Swan as well? We'll be there in July, so the heat will definitely be an issue. Does anyone know if they can bypass the AC system? princess:

We stayed at the Swan in late September. The weather was very warm, but we never had a problem with the AC. I'm one of those people that is always hot and likes a really cool room. I never had a complaint about the AC during our stay. Perhaps the problem is isolated to certain floors or wings?

Welcome back Thmacs :wave2:

I'm glad to hear you enjoyed your stay at the Swan. We are really looking forward to staying at the Swan for the first time :jumping1: I agree the location can't be beat. We have stayed at the BWI and found it so easy to visit Epcot and MGM. Theres something special about watching Illuminations and then having a leisurely stroll back to your resort :cool1: Thanks again.

I have never stayed at the Swan or Dolphin. I was thinking of staying there in May 2004 using the nurses discount. I just wondered how you like this hotel as compared to the other "disney"hotels. The location seems great. But how are the rooms? Is there a food court for fussy kids who seem to only love chicken fingers?....Tell me I won't make a mistake by staying there for 9 days!! Any info you could offer would be great. Thanks!

We just got back last night from the Swan, When we arrived in the room it was very hot so I was worried about the sensor. I went to check the themostat and it was on heat! Each time we entered the room it was on the warm side but not terrible and it cooled down fast. When we were sleeping the AC did not go off only during the day and then I think it came on some becuse the room was not hot, just not as cool as when we were in it.

I heard the same issue for BCV and was worried before our June trip, but it was just fine. I'm staying at Swan for New Year's and am not worried.
