We had the best time on our cruise. (It was our first cruise with DCL.) We had no trouble finding things for the little one to do, though at times it seemed like the vacation was all about her and we were just there to carry the autograph book.
She loved hugging the characters and getting autographs, family dance nights, the Mickey pool, the Hercules and Disney Dreams shows, her special "boat bed," the beach and the mints on the pillows. It was amazing how much more charater time we got on the boat than at Disney World; I think we're all spoiled now.
CC was the most beautiful beach I've ever been on, and was perfect for a toddler. We packed sand toys, but she wanted new ones when she saw the store on CC. If you are only going to the beach at CC (and not at another island first) buy the sand toys there. They had three good sets for $15, $18, and $30. But the big hit was a toddler size inflatable ring for $3.
We also went to Sapphire beach on St. Thomas. It was nice, but not nearly as nice as CC for a toddler. It was too steep, so the water got deep very quickly. And there was tons of sharp rocks and such a few feet out in the water.
We didn't spend tons of time in the pool, just 15-30 minutes on each of four days. On only one of those days, a CM was telling some mom's with babies in the ears about the potty training requirement. DD has been potty trained for months and did not wear a swim diaper, but she is on the small side for her age. No one asked us about her potty training status.
We spent some time in the 3-4 club with DD. She really enjoyed some of the activities, and thought others were boring. What I saw, though, would make me really uneasy about leaving a young three-year old there. The counselors weren't supervising the bathroom at all. I know the kids are supposed to use it independently, but still. Even when they sent all of the kids for a "scheduled" potty break, none of the couselors were in there. There was a sign on the wall that the caregivers were supposed to make sure the kids washed their hands, and they weren't doing that. I took my daughter in to use the potty about 20 min. after a potty break, and there was a little girl who had trouble unlocking her door and had been trapped in there that whole time. Another night a little girl had trouble with her new tropical wrap skirt (again during a scheduled potty break.) She called for help and no one came, and then she had an accident. They left her crying alone in the bathroom while they paged her parents.
If you make it to the club for family time, make sure you (the adult) go down the slide! It's the best slide I've been on. It has a really fast ride, with a nice gentle stop.
Anyway, we had a great time. DD keeps saying she wants to go back to the boat.
