Some are actually useable. :cutie:
A few thoughts before I start to work on the Photo trip report

I was very, very happy with the 18-200 as a walk-around lens. And certainly the D80 was a great improvement over last year's Olympus E-500. A few of the shots at 1600 are decent enough. I was also very happy with my fast lenses.

Some days I was more inspired than others (usually when YKW was off golfing and I had time to set up my shots) Good photography takes time.

The gorillapod was very handy and I'm glad I had it. However, I met EPCOTKilterFan (at the Off Kilter show), and I am now looking into the Trek Tech monopod/tripod for next year that got us to talking. (It was nice to meet someone from the boards--I thought of approaching a few people with waaaaaaaaaaay too much photogear, but I wasn't brave enough--I think we need some sort of symbol to stick on our packs so that we have a way of recognizing each other).

Likewise, I'm also glad that I got a good CP for my 18-200. Needed to use that more often.

I tend to underexpose. Gotta watch that histogram more closely and not the LCD viewer.

Next time, I need to remember to shoot JPEG for action shots at the Lights, Action Motorcars (Or whatever it's called) show. My little D80 doesn't process fast enough. I figured this out at the end of the show.

Used grid lines to good advantage sometimes. I need to find out how I can hold them longer on the screen. Those suckers really help to straighten out horizons; I can't trust my own old eyes.

Matrix and spot metering: A big difference! LOL. Learned this one too late.

Another lesson. Always zip my pack! (See post on my Sigma 10-20)

I love that so many of the cast members will pose so graciously for the camera.

It's fun to shoot for a theme. I concentrated on musicians and other performers.

Should have some photos up by the weekend.

We were there 07 to 10 December and I believe ZackieDawg was there also. I was looking for someone using a tripod in bright daylight and a filter darker than night! ;)

I *only* took about 750 photos since most of the trip was geared toward showing our favorite 3 year old princess the wonders of WDW.

We did meet one Diser with a LGMH on the MK ferry. I agree, the photo board people need a special identifier, maybe a B&W Mickey Head? Me, I have a Tinkerbell pin on my camera bag! :)

Maybe we can start a thread for "who's going" each month?

I think that's a great idea. If all goes as planned, we'll be there in December 09 and I know that's a popular time for lots of people here on the Photo board to visit The World.

Looking forward to reading your photo trip report!

Hey Bob - I actually haven't made it up there yet...leaving in just a few hours in fact! I'm at work trying to wrap up my day, and browsed through here while on hold with an insurance company. I'm hoping to leave an hour or two early from work and get on the road. The drive's about 3 1/2 hours, and it'll be raining for most of it.

I am definitely getting ready to use the ol ND400 - can't wait! I'll realize I'm in Disney and not at work tonight, when I jump on the boat from Saratoga to Marketplace, and grab a seat on the patio at Rainforest to have a bite while looking over the lake and throwing scraps to the swans.

We might be there perhaps a couple days after our Western DCL trip. Last year we went on the Dec 8-15 cruise and then stayed the 15th and 16th on property and drove home on the 17th. I don't know if I can pull that off next year though!

:rotfl:

I think the one about the aperture in the ears sounds hilarious and appropriate...anyone good at designing such things??

or the aperture in place of the head in a lime green mickey icon...

I can do it if I can find the graphics to work with

Why lime green?

That's the official "thing" to look for when you are in WDW. A lime green Mickey head usually means someone else from the DIS, allowing you to strike up a conversation. OR...they could just be someone who really likes lime green ;)

That shouldn't be too hard for us just to draw in with markers, should it?

maybe not for you...
my only artistic skill are with a camera, so I'll be making it with my pc, rather than drawing..

Well for all of us, especially those of us who are not so artistically inclined when it comes to drawing...if you come up with anything please let us know so we can all print, laminate and attach to our bags!

That sounds great. I was so happy to put my DisPodcast pin on my camera strap--hopefully to meet other Dis people. But the first day both plastic holder thingies came off, so I put it away for the rest of the trip. It would be nice to have a little patch or something to put on the camera strap or my photo backpack. I'd love to meet other photo Dis people.

We'll be there Dec. '09, too. First trip without our kids and looking forward to a second trip during the holidays.

BTW, we did 6 days on our Oct (21-27) trip, and I brought home around 1700 pics. I LOVE digital. In my film/slide days, 10 rolls of 36 were the limit.

Excellent idea!!

Doing a quick google search netted me this page:

Someone made a big one and another person made an aperture font! Way cool.

So go get your Lime Green Mickey Head (LGMH) from Home Depot (they're free, its just a color of Disney themed paint that Home Depot sells and they have color samples of all the colors they offer).

Then print out one of the aperture symbols and glue it to the center of the LGMH.

BAM! You can now be identified as a DISer and even more specifically a Disboards Photography Board DISer!!

Or another option,,,, take either the Genie or Mickey (like the one's I have in my signature) and print it and cut it out and glue it to your LGMH. Or if you have the Mickey Pin (Like in my sigy) then add that to your LGMH. I think you can still find that pin on Ebay. There is a Goofy photographer pin too. The Genie is a picture of the statue that can be found in The World Of Disney in Downtown Disney if you didn't know.
