We took Magical Express from the airport, arriving around 3 pm, where we were told our room was ready, but also that we were checking out the 29th when in fact we were staying until September 1st. After some digging (and an awful 40 minute wait while they worked on it) we were told it was fixed. I noticed the charging sheet said a check-out of the 30th, but the girl told me it was a misprint. We were given yellow VIP key cards (which apparently don't mean a darn thing but do look neat!) and headed to our room (by way of bell services, which the kids thought was great!) at the far end of The Springs. Our luggage showed up around 5.

I'm happy to report that our room (dedicated 2-bedroom) was well-kept, and other than a strong chemical smell (the carpets were slightly damp still so they must've just been cleaned) everything was in order. We were on the first floor and really liked going out onto the patio, but we all repeatedly had trouble working the locks on the patio door :rolleyes1 Those darned things are just smarter than us, I guess! Our garden grocer delivery was right on time, with some ground beef missing. They delivered it the next day with no hassle, so I'm willing to use them again.

That night I noticed our key cards had a check-out of the 30th, too (I know, I know, should've checked that when I got them :headache: ) DH headed to the front desk, and the manager explained that our "free" night we got due to an awful previous stay was incorrectly put in the computer as non-member and so they were unable to link it, and we would need to return on the 30th to check in. When the 30th came, I headed to the front desk and was told that I would also have to come back down and check in again on the 31st . I told her that was unacceptable as I'd already spent too much time standing there when I was assured repeatedly that this wouldn't be a problem. She was then willing to do a "one-time" "courtesy" linking of the next night so that I wouldn't have to come down again. Said in a tone that conveyed I was being a pain and they were going out of their way to accomodate me :sad2: . And I still ended up going back down on check-out day because our room charges only had the past 2 nights and I was pretty sure they hadn't "magically" disappeared :wizard: . They also charged us internet for one night, but it was taken off with no problems.

But, anyway, that was my only complaint for the resort. We love SSR, we loved our location, we loved the pool, we had great bus service (our first trip not having a car and we may never rent one again!) and, as a treat, I saw (ok, I think that was her, I must've seen a picture along the line somewhere) Deb Wills step out of a limo at SSR as we were waiting for magical express to take us home. Kind of cheered me up after learning that Michael Phelps was in a parade at Magic Kingdom while I was in Liberty Tree Tavern with the waitress from hell that kept telling me to smile or she wouldn't give me my drink, and no I couldn't have more rolls because I wasn't magical, and then telling the neighboring table I must have problems because I wasn't smiling (and I did-it was her!:scared: )

That said I don't think I'll go in August again unless the alternative is not go at all. The heat really got to the kids and the humidity to my hair :scared1:
I now own a cute little pirate princess ball cap.

My kids have now told me many times that the beds at SSR are much more comfortable than their own

Glad to hear you had a good trip and that your issues only ended up being inconveniences :goodvibes

Sounds like your waitress should have been at 50's PTC instead of LTT

thanks for the post and i'm sorry to hear about the resi problem at SSR. oh well.......not all can be perfect, right? Oh, and I agree with going in Augusts. Yeeeckk :scared1:

Sounds like you had a great trip. I was just there in August and it surprisingly wasn't bad. We had several cloudy days and we only had 2 days that broke 90. It was a nice change from previous August trips!
