We were there Mar 14-28 and we did do the basic DDP.

The service was generally good in all these.

Any questions about our experience with these restaurants? By the way, we had dinner in all of these (except one):

Whispering Canyon Cafe
T-Rex (lunch - not DDP)
'Ohana
Turf Club at SSR
Maya Grill at CS
Yak and Yet
Princess Storybooking Dining
Sci Fi
Mama Melrose (Fantasmic - 2X)
Cinderella's Royal Table
Le Cellier
Tony's Town Square
The Wave

1- Was your server/the atmosphere fun at Whispering Canyon???
2- was the Wave really yummy?? and what did u have?

Hi -- so nice of you to offer your help!!

I do have a question about how the fantasmic packages work - you mentioned mamma melrose 2x....

were you on the dining plan? can you use a dining plan toward this? and how does it work then with the fantasmic seating?

And what does it cost?

Thanks so much!!!!!!
Cheryl

We have a dinner reservation at Tony's. I was thinking of cancelling because of the negative reviews it's been getting.

How was your experience? Would you go back?

Thanks,

Cindy

Would love to hear all about Cindy's Table...we are thinking of eating there in Oct

1) For Whispering Canyon, we had a late dinner, so it may have been more subdued at that point. Our server was nice, she did a few jokes and gave my husband a gigantic drink when he asked for a refill. I thought she was fine. The other tables had louder servers, but I was glad we had her. My son loves the atmosphere there so he had a great time.

2) At the Wave, my husband ordered the Linguini and I ordered the Beef Tenderloin. We both liked it. I think my steak was a little overdone, but it was fine. I always ask for Medium, and I always end up with Medium Well. Our children order the Linguini and chicken strips (different from other restaurants - it seemed better.) They weren't too thrilled with it, but it was fine. And for dessert, I ordered the Decadent Flavors and my husband ordered the Creamy Indulgence. We shared each with each other and the children and the only that no one liked was the Coconut Panna Cotta. It was also a late dinner, but still very busy. It's a very quiet atmosphere, the lights are dimmed and relaxing. Great after a long day. Our server was attentive.

Yes, you can use the dining plan. We went there twice because we wanted the Fantasmic package and did not want Hollywood and Vine or Brown Derby. With the Fantasmic Package, it includes an appetizer, an entree and a dessert without additional cost to the Dining plan. It has always been like that.

The server will give you a voucher/ticket to give to the CM at the top (before you go to the seating area) on the right, they will let you in and there is two main sections to the far right reserved for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. We don't mind the seats. However, I was told that you have to get there at least 45 mins before the show because the open it up to public at 30 mins prior. I did notice a lot of people coming down at about 15 mins to show, but I can't be sure.

There is no additional cost to the package. The only thing is that when you call to make your ADRs you have to provide a credit card number. If you are a no show or don't cancel more than 48 hours in advance, they will charge your credit card $10/person.

Hope this helps.

Actually it hasn't been that bad in our previous visits, but this year, the food was not very good. And although the server was nice and attentive, it seemed very rushed. My husband was commenting as well that the food wasn't as good as a few years ago. By the way, we both had the Seafood Diavoli. It was not that great. Even after that I was looking forward to the Tiramisu (the reason why I bother going here) and unfortunately, I was very disappointed in it (the cake part was too wet :scared:- if that makes any sense and the flavour was quite bland...I don't know what happened to it:confused3).

I think this restaurant was the most disappointing for us. And to be honest, I don't think we will be going back anytime soon.

What was the Wave like? We have plans to go for lunch. How was the dinner?

The Wave has a very interesting decor. The lights are a little dimmer than other restaurants. The room we were seated in had openings in the separation wall which many went through (don't think that they were suppose to). The tables were nicely separated, not too close so that was nice. A bit of elegance in their table settings. Otherwise the server we had were attentive. The food was fine, not the best, but by far, not the worst. My beef tenderloin was good, a little bit overdone than the Medium I requested, but it was fine with me. The dessert is a unique idea of offering 3 different (small portioned) desserts in one. They were great desserts. If you have children, they have a better list of children's menu that is not normally in the preset menus. So better selection for the children.

I would recommend this restaurant for those who want to try it, at least once. :)

Please see the previous post for both these restaurants, but if there is anything specific that I didn't mention, I would be happy to help as much as I can.:)

We used our 2 DDP credits for the CRT and although I think we got our moneys worth because it included the photo package, appetizer, entree, and dessert and the gratuities, I don't think it's in our list for next vacation. Since we only had dinner there, the experience is probably not the same as if it was breakfast or lunch where it is Character dining and the princesses come to visit.

The food was okay, I loved the Spring Roll (definitely a great appetizer), the Prime Rib I ordered was not that great. Although my husband liked his corn and crab soup, he was not too thrilled with the salmon entree. And, I was very much looking forward the the Buckle cake dessert and it was a little disappointing. However, the photo package that you will be given (photo with Cinderella at the front foyer before you go up for dinner) is very nice. My daughter was in heaven, she didn't really eat much of her food, nor did my son, but they like the little show where the Fairy Godmother, Perla and Suzy came. It was fun for them. They loved the wand and the sword that was given to them by the server.

I guess what you pay for is actually the experience of dining in Cinderella's castle. :)

What about the food at Mama Melrose? What would you recommend? Also, where you alllowed to enter Fantasmic from a seperate entrance? We did this a couple of years ago but we did Hollywood and Vine (I did not like the food). Then we went through an entrance near Oscar's I think.

What did you think about T-rex as it compares to Rainforrest Cafe? (atmosphere) I'm taking my 11 son to DTD on arrival day and he loves RC but I mention T-rex to him as an option... he's never seen it but is sure it can't be as cool as RC! Any thoughts!

I didn't realize you get an appetizer and that it included the tax. Is that true if you pay OOP too?

Sadly the separate entrance is no longer available, you have to go through the general entrance, but if you go around 45 minutes before, there is no wait, you can just walk up to the top and hand in your voucher.

I do miss that separate entrance. We used to go there no earlier than 30 mins, now they will open it up to the others at that time, so we ended up being there 45 min before and found we waited longer than previous years.

The appetizer I would recommend is the Calamari for two, the entree I usually get is the Salmon, but this time, I ordered the steak. They are both good. And absolutely, positively, without a doubt, I recommend the Tiramisu. My favourite here.

We did find the T-REx somewhat louder than the Rainforest Cafe. However, I think it depends on where you sit. We were near the fish tank so it was great, my daughter did not like the loud noise in the beginning, but she quickly got used to it. My 9 year old son LOVED it. He loves dinosaurs so he was in heaven. He was able to name all of them and he loved going seeing the other rooms. The meteor shower is a bit loud, but not too bad. It was a very cool place to eat. The food is rather HUGE. We said that if we go back there we will just share. The sandwiches (they were good) were stacked so high, I could barely take a bit. There is also a little area near the front where they can dig for dinos that is kind of fun if you have time for it. The entrance to it is in the shop, a little hard to find.

I will mention that I find the food just a little better than the Rainforest Cafe. Maybe it's because it's new.

You'll both have a good time!

If you use your DDP 2 credits, they are all included, yes!

It is a pre fixed price, so the appetizer, entree and dessert and the photo are included in that one price. However, I don't know if the gratuities is included if you pay OOP. Sorry. Hopefully someone who have experience with this will chime in.
