Hi all, we've been back over a week so I thought I'd better come and let you all know how we got on - it seems ages ago now!

Where to start, we had an amazing time (don't really need to tell you guys that!), the trip was certainly what we expected.

Highlights (in no particular order)

- Characters meals - Cinderella's Royal Table, breakfast at Akershus, breakfast at Chef Mickey's - loved them all!
- Port Orleans French Quarter - beautiful resort, loved the size of it, buses to the park were great, pool fab, just fab, fab fab!
- Magic Kingdom - who can't but help love this park!
- Splash and Big Thunder Mountain
- Photopass - so glad we prepaid otherwise we would have missed out on some great family shots
- The shows - Disney do these SO well, particulary liked Monsters Inc Laughter Floor and Crush's Turtle Talk for the audience interaction.

Lows
- One of my cats got very sick with stones in his bladder and ended up having an emergency operation which my neighbour had to supervise. Costs so far £600 :confused3
- DD2 got an ear infection (from all the swimming) and had to go to A&E in the middle of the night
- the rain. I have to admit that I hadn't realised it was the beginning of the rainy season when we booked, but our dates were pretty inflexible so we would have booked anyway. Had about 4 days without any rain I think and then worked around the weather the other days
- flight home - miserable night flight, so little sleep, wouldn't do that again if I could help it. We were all left exhausted for the week on top of the jet lag, my DD2 was sick a few days after getting home and DH lost his voice.

High and low!
- We ate at California Grill on our last night and witnessed (what our waiter claimed) was the biggest lightening storm. The restaurant was surrounded by lightening at one point and we think it hit a couple of times, an amazing experience - high! Was planning on watching Wishes from there but after waiting till nearly 11pm the restaurant said it had been cancelled, then as we walked to the bus stop the fireworks started, caught glimpses between the trees- low!

DDP worked really well for us, used all our credits and even though a few ADRs needed 2 credits we only paid OOP for 1 meal. Food was good, I thought the burgers in the parks were better than MacDonalds or BK and we had a great variety - Boma, Raglan Road, Biergarten, Tangierine Cafe. Plus I only put on 1.5lbs which I've already lost!

I thought this would be a one-off trip for us, but maybe (just maybe!) we might go again!!!!!

Thanks for all the tips I got from here when I was planning, it certainly helped make the most of the holiday.

sounds like you had a wonderful time. :cool1:

Im sure youll soon be booking to go again :thumbsup2

POFQ is lovely isn't it. Glad you thought so to.:thumbsup2

I did smile at your miserable flight home (sorry don't mean that in a mean way but more in a knowing way!)..that is unfortunately par for the course for Orlando unless you can find an indirect flight going via somewhere, but then you still have the jet lag and also a longer travelling time to deal with...Not sure DH or I have EVER EVER slept on the red eye back and it takes us at least a week to recover..its hell I know, but I'd rather that then a two hour flight to spain or something!!! ;)

Well done in only putting on such a small amt of weight..its all that walking and swimming you did! We stuff ourselves silly when we go and stay the same weight because of all the extra walking..

Hope you are all ok now and that the cat is recovering well.
Time to get planning for your next venture to WDW..

think yourself lucky when i flew home my connection flight from orlando to newerk which should of taken an hour or so took 5 hours, the weather was so bad it was snowing, lightening, thunder and really bad turbulance. There was mothers with kids panicing and puking (which to me and my brother was quite amusing). They run out of fuel and had to land at an airport in the middle of nowhere, waited 4 hours all they gave us was a mcd cheese burger and a bottle of water, then a bus to the right airport. Then had to wait 30 hours in the airport for them to sort out a flight

Oh good lord:scared1: I would have definately been one of the puking people and in between that screaming!!!

ohhhh sounds like a fab holiday. Don't be fooled into thinking it's a once in a lifetime trip ........ once bitten by the bug ALWAYS bitten by the bug :rotfl::rotfl:

welcome back!!!

yes, that is the danger in going to WDW.......your addiction has begun....
no use fighting it..... :goodvibes

Things they don't tell you when you book a holiday to Disneyworld :

1 - The only person who gets to sleep on a red-eye is the pilot (and I'm not even kidding, but don't worry he's got an autopilot and a first officer)

2 - There is no such thing as a one-off trip. They implant you with a homing beacon inside your brain, and you'll feel the urge to go back just like salmons or migrating birds. :rotfl:

I can't help but wonder if you came on the same flight as us last week!

Usually love virgin, but with the screaming child (4 hours of CONSTANT top of lungs yelling), the broken in flight entertainment, the lights not being dimmed until 1am/6am, the seatbelt light blinking on and off all night long (bad turbulence), the broken catering facilities meaning no hot drinks, being placed in a row that stank of vomit right between the toilets and the rude air hostess it nearly put me off for life :rotfl:

The rain was awful, particularly the five days where it never let up! We missed out on quite a bit because our plans were fairly rigid, maybe I'll relax a more next time (although we threw it out the window the last 5 days to make sure we did as much as possible)

Just wanted to lend a sympathetic ear, lol!

Glad it wasn't the same flight (we were gatwick, think you were Manchester) that sounds far worse than ours!

DH said next time we'd go PE on the way home, so he's already thinking ahead:cool1: better get saving!

Lol, yes you're right :)

I now see why the PE upgrades cost double on the night flight!! Haha :)
