Hi all!

Came back from our child-free weekend in the early hours of this morning - totally shattered! Won't do a trip report as I never finished the Oct one as it was! Oops.

Trying Sequoia Lodge was nice. Breakfasts were much more organised than Cheyenne! We paid for a Montana room (but not the extra for a lake view) and ended up in a large room with a side balcony overlooking the lake & village, could also see the castle lit up at night - is that standard or did we get an upgrade? (Poor photos - from phone)

The fire alarm going off Sat night was a pain and very badly managed by staff. Plus we went two days without a bathroom light despite asking for it to be sorted. Showering in the dark was a new experience! lol

Had my first go on Crushes Coaster & Rock n Roller Coaster which were both ace. Would have done CC a second time but the queue was up to 2 hours most of the time. Went back on ToT which is one of our fave rides. Also watched Cinemagique & Moteurs shows which we'd never done before.

Luckily we did lots of rides on the Friday because the weekend was horrific. The crowds were just too much when we're used to nice quiet October midweeks. People were just getting irritable and rude which detracted from the magic. I was glad we didn't have the girls there. We did Big Thunder Mountain twice at night, it's really fun in the dark!

Saw a few characters and got a kiss from Mickey & a hug from Chip :goodvibes

Def will stick to Halloween in the future. Although the xmas decorations were pretty we felt they seem to make more effort with Halloween! It's also more fun and perky. The carols playing on Main Street were too dreary for us. A controversial choice I'm sure but we won't be hurrying back for a Christmas Disney. Our place is with the Pumpkinmen and Disney Villians ;)

Glad you had a good time.

I hope the weekend isn't too bad when we go next weekend

The fire alarm sounds like it would have been a total nightmare, thank goodness you didn't have the kids with you.

I've only been to the SL once and I think that the room you got was an upgrade as our Montana Room wasn't like that (I don't think)

Glad you had a nice time (apart from the crowds). I think Bob might have had a similar room with a balcony at SL - it certainly rings a bell. It sounds like a particularly well-appointed room and I'm sure a balcony would not be standard - lucky you!

We made a point of standing on the balcony every day even if it was really too cold to use it

I think Bob was upgraded to a suite.

Lovely photos:thumbsup2

Glad you had a good time, i too found breakfast at SL more organized than the Cheyenne but i am not so sure the whole thing was worth the extra price really........:confused3

Welcome back! Glad you had a great time. Sorry about the crowds...

We knew the weekends close to xmas would be very busy, just didn't realise how much!

giuly09 I do agree, if we went back as a family I'd go for Cheyenne again. We just thought we'd try somewhere a bit different for once. It was nice on my poor old feet not to have to walk me any further so my legs are happy to pay the price... they would stay in the Disneyland Hotel given control of the credit card!

Ian the room was 7248. It looked like it used to be joined with 7247 but now seperate, no adjoining doors. From the floorplan 7247 is larger and does look directly over the lake instead of from the side. There's no way I'd pay extra for the room we had though as it had gotten rather shabby.

It was a suite when we got upgraded, were in 7247..... I think your room would have been the one behind ours??

welcome back. Although i had the most magical and wonderful time ever on my recent trip, have to agree the weekend was just nuts, esp around once upon a dream/ fantillusion time, and there was a certain amount of shouting and rudeness. But... it was still amazing! And being at disney even at the busiest of times, is better then not ebing there at all!!! :rotfl:

welcome back, it's really interesting to hear your thoughts about xmas and halloween. We went December 05 and enjoyed it but we went halloween this year and it was amazing and I'm torn between the two next year ... wish we could afford both ! I can't believe they took as long as they did to replace your lightbulb but at least you had a good trip.

We were at the Sequoia Saturday and must have slept through the fire alarm!!!!!!!!!!!! We were in the main building too on the 4th floor.Lucky it was not for real. Mind you we had a really noisy over tired child in the next room, the connecting doors are not sound proof, and we could hear every sound from 9.45 until 11.45 pm.The parents were also very loud and inconsiderate, hence fire alarm may have been going off and we did not hear it.:confused3

Welcome back :goodvibes

I agree with you, we've been for both Christmas and Halloween and although I love both seasons, Halloween is the winner for me too.

Welcome back, and what a lovely surprise upgrade :goodvibes

Another vote for Halloween over Christmas, I'm glad we've experienced the Christmas season and maybe it's because my boys are that bit older but we'd all opt for Halloween, just more fun and upbeat I think. :)
