Y'all may regret asking for more since I can be very longwinded.
To give you a bit of background on this trip.
Me - Missy - age 42 since June lol. Wife of dh for 20 years who I have turned into a WDW fanatic too. I'm also mom of our age 11 and 13 year old boys who love Disney too of course.
My dd - Lauren. Will be 17 in 3 weeks but looks and acts more like 24. Just as big of a Disney fan as I am.
My best friend since we were kids - Minette. Same age as me, hates to fly. Asked me for many years why my family always went to WDW on vacation UNTIL she and her family joined us 2 years ago on one. And then again last year.
Minette's dd Emiley. Will be 18 in December.
My family of 5 have been to WDW 7 times in the last 10 years, staying at several resorts from value to moderate to deluxe. We didn't have a summer trip planned this year. We have had a Disney vacation planned for Thanksgiving week for a while. We've never been at that time of year.
One day Minette called and said her dh had a convention/show he wanted to attend in Osh Kosh for remote control airplanes (I'm sure that there's a more technical term for the hobby but I'm a race car girl so I don't know plane lingo ;-) She said that she would like Lauren and I to go on a short vacation with them because they just can't go without their "sistas." After all of 2 minutes (TOPS) Disney World was the choice. It worked out since my boys wouldn't have been able to go anyway because of baseball All Stars.
I know this isn't the place for trip reports so I will keep my post here now about the Beach Club.
We stayed here in May of 1999 for only 2 nights. We split a stay between POR for 5 nights and 2 at the BC. All we could budget at that time. This time for our girls trip we booked the Swan with my teacher's discount and we were content until I thought about purchasing an AP since I'm going back for a week with my clan in Nov. and then I got a great AP discount at BC. When we stayed in '99 we liked the Beach Club. This time, with more time there and different circumstances, I ADORED it there. All 4 of us did. Minette says that's where she wants to stay when she goes back. And she's VERY picky. Her house looks like a page in the Southern Living Magazine. (Mine looks more like the cartoon Family Circus...we are best friends but SO different ;-)
Our view was over the entrance but it was still pretty and being on the 5th floor we never heard a sound. A pleasant surprise was we just happened to be in our room before heading to the Boardwalk when the fireworks at MK started and we had a perfect view of them! I thought I'd done and knew a lot but I never thought about being able to see fireworks from MK at the Beach Club. The four of us sang "When You Wish Upon A Star" as they went off. Don't worry, we checked to make sure that there wasn't anyone on the balconies next to us. And I apologize if our crooning affected anyone above or below us. We can't help ourselves in WDW.
Mousekeeping was WONDERFUL! Our room was not worn at all and was squeaky clean the whole time we were there. I've stayed in several WDW resorts and this was the most attentive housekeeping I've encountered. The first afternoon we checked in we noticed that the refrigerator was not cold and I tried but no way to get behind it to see if it was plugged in. Also, the tv remote didn't work (batteries I'm sure). I left a note and they took care of both right away.
The pool - Last time when we were there the pool was so crowded! And this time, guess what? The pool was crowded. BUT.. this time I didn't have small children with me that I had to watch every minute like a hawk and worry about the slide. The first afternoon we went there our location wasn't too great, but all we could get. I must have ultra sensitive feet because it HURT when I walked swiftly to the water. I am accustomed to hot weather but this was HOT. The last day we were there we spent a couple of hours in a sandy cove the girls found. I did think I was in paradise. Did I mention it wasn't far from the bar?
Any other questions, just ask.
