We have used the ddp is the past and it has worked well for my family. We have not been since the recent changes. I want to read up on deluxe dining to see if that would be an option for us, any comparisons, experinces that someone could share would help! Thanks!

for us the basic works great, otherwise the other plan is too much food for us. We feel that we are sitting in a restaurant for alot of time, and working around twice as many adrs. Not to mention the more t.s. you do, the more tips you are paying out.

now if we were going knowing we wanted to do a bunch of signature restaurants than that might work out okay.

How would your 22 month old make out sitting in a couple of t.s. restaurants?

Good question! I am plannign for next year so he will be 3, but still who knows? I did not always like eating at ts, it seemed to take up quite a bit time. I really need to crunch the numbers and think. Thanks for the input!

we have had the debate on which to get too. we ended up with the basic. what got us is that there was no way we would eat 3 table service meals in a day, we wanted to see the parks too. so we sat down and thought about how we would probably eat while there. we would probably still eat the table service for dinner and the counter for lunch. so that left breakfast. would we eat a TS for breakfast? and was it worth $30 per adult and $10 per child?
the answer was no. we would be gaining one meal, breakfast ,perday. even if we ate 1 character breakfast during the week and the rest CS at the resort it wouldnt add up to the $300 extra it would have cost to up grade us and our 2 children.
as far as it being too much food, well obviously it isnt. you control what you purchase, you dont have to eat more because of it. but will it be worth it if you dont eat at least 2 TS a day?

As I think back now to when we used DDP I remember that next time we wanted to eat a few Quick meals in the evening so we would have more evening time to roam the parks. I guess that if the plan had an option for 2cs and 1ts per day it would work for us. I think that with my the 3yr old we will want to grab some more qiuck meals and spen more time exploring at his pace. I think that I have just answered my own question. I think that I can save up for a few extra meals and pay oop.

On the Deluxe Plan you get meal credits, not TS or CS. So you could eat 3 TS in a day or 3 CS in a day or any combination there of. Many have chosen 2 TS a day, one of which is a 2TS meal (Narcoossee's, HDDR, CRT, etc.) to help reduce the time spent having 3TS in a day. The Deluxe plan also makes the decision to get room service easier. For 2TS you can get breakfast brought to your room (Deluxe hotels guest) and the tip is included. So you use 2 meal credits and share a room service breakfast, still grab that CS lunch and have a 1TS or 2TS dinner.

The Deluxe to me is the ultimate in flexibility. It comes at a price, but doesn't everything at WDW?

we have always done the basic. This yr though we are trying the deluxe so we can try some signature restaurants. Did you say tip is included in the deluxe

No, tips are not included on the Deluxe or Basic plan.

Tips are included with room service and some of the 2TS dinner shows like HDDR. Check the specifics of the DP in the brochure.

Well, we're doing the Deluxe plan this September. We do a lot of character breakfasts for two reasons - 1. we like to get into the park ahead of time, and 2. we like to have the characters come to us! We've done the regular plan several times in the past and have always used all of our credits. I do not plan out the maximum benefit of the plan, however. For some doing so is like a sporting event - for those people I say knock yourself out!

We also sit down every night for dinner. DH has a thing about being waited on vs. carrying your own food. It doesn't matter much to me either way, but again, whatever! The thing that attracted me to the DxDP is the flexibility. We ALWAYS eat three meals per day. Sometimes we even grab a cs meal on the way back to the room after fireworks if we had an early dinner. This works for us because often we split two cs lunches amongst four of us (actually, dd's and I split one, dh eats his own!) We always use all of our snack credits as I have a one Mickey bar per day rule :goodvibes .

The bottom line is just figuring out your eating style. I certainly wouldn't do the plan if I thought I would be loosing an extreme amount of money. However whether we come out ahead by $100 or Disney comes out ahead by $100 I really don't care. I like the convenience and flexibility and both are present for us because of our dining style. It's really a very personal decision and the best way to make it is to sit down and figure out the ADRs you'd make if you could do whatever you wanted. If it fits with one of the dining plans, great! If not, go your own way. No matter what you'll have a great time!

We just came home from the Deluxe DDP. We got a six night package to use for 7 nights, so we didn't have any problem using all the credits. We only had all of our dinners booked advance, and basically ate wherever we wanted for lunch (walk-in)
