We would love a night out without DS & DD (9 & 10) when we next go to Florida. We are staying at a rented villa in Indian Creek - has anyone in similar off-site circumstances found a suitable sitting service?

Hi there,

Not used a sitting service myself, but have found a list of sitters at www.go2orlando.com whilst looking for some other information. If you click on beforeyougo on the left-hand side, you'll find it.

Thanks Lynn. I'll have a look at this. Anyone else used sitters off-site? Mike

Mike you might find a workable alternative is to use one of Disney's kids clubs if you were going out on Disney property. My daughters loved the Neverland Club at the Polynesian hotel, There are/were also clubs at Boardwalk, the Beachclub and I think Wilderness lodge. It's not cheap, but it does include an evening meal for them ( hotdog, chicken fingers, Macncheese type stuff) and endless use of the computer arcade games they have as well as a character visit and usually an animal "show and tell" experience.

I have used a child minding service that was "recommended" by the travel agents on one of my early trips and the kids really liked the girl who came. She brought all sorts of books and games with her. After reading the "disclaimers" that both the travel company and the agency gave I thought a little more about the process of allowing a complete stranger into your "home"/room to look after your kids and the possible dangers attatched to that action I decided that I'd rather not take the tiny chance that something went wrong with such an undertaking and that the registered and controlled child minding at a club like those run by Disney (and now Universal) was a much safer option and worth the slightly higher cost. Plus the kids absolutely adored the Neverland club and thought it was magical to enter the club through a window and get sprinkled with "pixie dust". It offers both kids and adults alike a great evening out.

I'm not knocking anyone who decides to go along with the child minding facilities offered by any of the companies around Orlando, just for me having thought about it I didn't think it worth the risk. America is such a big country with a transient population that should anyone try to abduct a child, tracking them down could prove an enourmously difficult task.

Thanks for that info - I NEVER knew that you could put your children into theDisney Kids Clubs if you were dining, I'd assumed it was only a perk whilst staying onsite. We stayed at the Poly a couple of years ago and wanted to use the Kids Club but Adam our youngest was only 1 and he was too young.

Do you know what age they take from??? Fingers croseed it's 3, I'm dying to try O'Hanas for dinner but there is NO WAY that my lot would eat the BBQ food.

The other way we get round the babysitting is take one of the Grandparents, it works all round (they get a break, kids adore it and we have a babysitter for the odd night out!!)

Pretty sure the minumum age for Neverland Club is 4

Yup - here you go

Babysitting/Childcare Services: The Neverland Club is open from 5:00 p.m. to midnight and offers entertainment (including a Discovery Island animal show), dining and fun for children ages 4 to 12.

Sorry :(

Vernon - thanks for the info... just for clarity, the Dis kids clubs will accept children whose parents are Dining at Disney sites etc, but NOT resident? Also, any tips on booking this service? - I presume you need the PS first? Mike
