HELLO MOTHERS.... I am curious to know if anyone has left a baby with any of the services in Disney for example Fairy Godmothers!!!! I am going in September and my DD will be 10 months????? Any thoughts....nervous!!!

When we were there in 2003 we left our 6 yo DS and our almost 1 yo DS with a Fairy Godmother sitter. Can't remember her name but she was an adult, she came with a bag of stuff to play with and she was very friendly with the kids. We were gone about 3.5 hours and they were sound asleep when we got home.

We're going to do it again in Oct. I always worry about that kind of thing but I really think bad apple babysitters aren't that common (my DH assures me), it's only a couple of hours and you'll have a great time. I know we did - had dinner in Italy and got to watch Illuminations for the first time just the two of us. We took the kids to see it before we went home.

Hope you have a great time!

thank you so much for your input I am really unsure about it my DD being so young so I am curious to see if anyone left their babies with Fairy Godmothers.....or any other service for that matter THANK YOU ALL for your help and thoughts as I am anxious about it but want to do it......

I want to know too. I am freaked out aboout that kind of thing too but DH and I reallllly want to go to Pleasure Island for a night.

My thought on the issue is, as long as your child can speak to you it's no big deal. I'm not a fanatical "never leave the kids with a sitter" mother - not by a long shot. My kids both go to daycare but it's in a center where there is constant supervision. I have also left them with sitters but it was always a friend or relative while the oldest was not speaking. Now that my older dd is 5.5, she can tell me things so I'm comfortable with a yonger sitter/ or someone I'm using on a recommendation. I don't think I'd be comfortable with someone I had never met before being alone with my non-verbal child. However, this is your baby and your comfort level. Do what you think is best.

Have a great trip!

We've used Fairy Godmothers a half-dozen times, and will continue to use them. The first time our son was about a year old. He's now 4 1/2, and we'll continue to use them even though he's old enough for the clubs, because he needs a good night's sleep after a busy day at WDW, not more running around in a kids' club.

My DS is language delayed and not that verbal, but I can tell if he's stressed. Even when he had stranger anxiety, he always loved the FG sitters, because they come with toys!

If you do searches, you'll find very few that didn't have good experiences with Kids Nite Out or Fairy Godmothers. And even those that did not like the sitters didn't feel there kids weren't being cared for...it was more like a personality conflict with the sitter.

We used Fairy Godmothers when our daughter was just a little over 1 year old... and again when she was 2 and a half. They are wonderful!

Hm.. I have never heard of the Fairy Godmothers... What is the pricing or where can I find the pricing for this?

Thanks!

I appreciate the input more than you all know....this is a bit stressful for us being our first baby our first trip to Disney with her and of course her well being is our #1 priority. I am eager to hear of more people that had positive or not so positive experiences. The FG can not leave the room with your child without your permission right? How far in advance should I call to book a night? We are traveling END of September....THANKS AGAIN FELLOW MOMS AND DADS!

:lovestruc

I am so affraid dh & I missed the baot on this. When booking our trip I asked him did we want child care he said nope I want to be with the kids. I said ok. Now he wants a night alone..... We are booked at Disney Allstar Movies I am wondering if child care is even available there. Did we blow it?? Can we get child care?? Our kids are 7 & 2 1/2 Any info would be helpful! :confused3

Fairy godmothers are an outside company. you call and arrange for it yourself. it's not part of the resort.

You can get private in room sitters. Everyone talks about Fairy Godmothers and i know there are others. Some resorts have child care centers, not sure if All Stars does. I think if your resort doesnt have a child care center then it is easier to use the private in room sitter if you dont have a car. It takes a while to go from resort to resort on the transit system from what ive read.

We are bringing our sitter with us! (my mom). I don't leave my daughter with babysitters at home so I wouldn't do it on vacation. As a child protective worker, I'm overly neurotic about babysitters in general. I would urge people to check out any agencies before they leave their children (verbal or non-verbal) with them to make sure that the assigned sitter has had extensive background checks. I'm sure that the agencies mentioned have been checked out by parents before since they continue to be successful businesses-but it never hurts to check again. Okay my lecture is done!

Very good information!

We are bringing our own sitters too..ourselves :teeth:

we just don't go anywhere without the kids (wierd i know, but that's just us)

I spoke to several folks (including Disney) about the screening process and at this moment I cant remember exactly what it was but it was sooo intense and through that i thought I feel more comfortable using Fairy Godmothers or using the Disney childcare centers than I do leaving my little man at home with the next door neighbor.

So, you're a child protective worker, and your attitude is every sitter is out to get children?

My son is 4, and I've had over a dozen sitters...and every one has been great.

My best friend is a federal marshall with the Drug enforcement agency and it makes her very wary of everyone. I would bet she doesnt think everyone is out to get children, but her job makes her more aware of the dangers that lurk out there.

Wow! That's a little harsh. I think she was just trying to offer some helpful information not say that everyone is a sicko pedophile. I am sure that you have had wonderful sitters, but in her line of work I can guarantee that not everyone is that lucky. She wasn't being rude just offering up some tips to insure the safety of the OPs or anyone else's little ones. Nothing wrong with that. :confused3
