Baby's First Haircut

Does anyone know if the barbershop on Main Street still does this? DS will be 17 months old when we go to WDW in May -- he really could use a haircut now, but I think it would be so much fun if we could wait until our trip.

Anything else we should be aware of re: the baby's first haircut?

BTW -- DS is VERY squirmy - will this pose a problem? I think I read somewhere that the "barbers" are really good at entertaining the kids during the cut...

We haven't been since January '06, but I'd be surprised if this service wasn't offered.

Both our kids had their first haircuts at the barber shop. It makes for a fantastic memory! My best advice is to get there early and be prepared to wait. The shop doesn't take appointments, so you're on a first come-first served basis. There are several seats inside the shop, but it can get crowded rather quickly.

The barbers are fantastic with squirmy kiddos! They've got a never-ending supply of stickers and bubbles to keep your little one entertained.

The shop provides a cute certificate commemorating the occasion, along with "first haircut" Mickey ears, and will wrap up some locks for you to take home, too.

It's definitely worth the wait you might have to endure!

its really cute, but unless you are first in line, be prepared for a wait. Its a really small space and there isn't much to keep kids entertained. There are only 2 chairs, but only one was open most of the time we were there.

Yes, they do first haircuts!! My younger DS has his first haircut there. They even give you Mickey ears w/ "First Haircut" embroidered on the back. Oh, and you get a certificate, too.

Have no worries about him being squirmy. They have spinners, stickers, and all kinds of things to entertain him.

Definitely do it!

we were just there on Tuesday! We were leaving MK for nap time around 1PM and I popped my head in to see how long the wait was. It was EMPTY! There was no one in the place! We walked right in and got my DS21mo first hair cut! He is VERY squirmy and cried the whole time! The barbers were great and had lots of stickers, bubbles and toys to try to keep him entertained. We got a really cute Mickey ear hat with first haircut embroidered on the back, a certificate and some of his hair wrapped with pixie dust. I'm sooo glad I stopped to check it out -- I thought for sure at that time of day the line would be out the door! BTW, they do not allow you to charge it to the room, they take CC or cash only.

We did this a few weekends ago...it's $14 and they save the hair for you, give you a nice certificate and special Mickey ears that say first haircut on the back! Very cute! My DH even had his hair cut as well!
