DH, DS1 & I are leaving on THURSDAY :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: for WDW!!!! I just read something in my guide book (The Unofficial Guide) about the barber shop on Mainstreet doning something special for Baby's first haircut. DS dosen't really need a haircut, but he probably will within the next few months anyway, so I thought it'd be neat to get it done there. Does anyone know how much it costs? Do they do anything special? Thanks so much!

We´ve thought about doing this with our little one as well. I´ve heard that it costs 12$ and that if it is the childs first haircut it gets a certificate and Mickey Ears that say: I had my first haircut at Disneyworld.

I´ve been told that it´s a lot of fun, also for older kids and adults. I believe that the older kids get sprinkled with some pixie dust and get some colored gel in their hair. Sound like fun to me :)

We did this last year for my son's first haircut. They gave him lots of stickers and toys to play with to keep him occupied. As the other poster said, they get a certificate and their Mickey ears and it costs $12.

The only problem is that it's first come first serve, so if there is a line, you have to wait. I would try and do it first thing in the morning to avoid long lines.

Have a great trip! Freyja, we are doing down on 10/3 as well (we'll be there till the 13th).

In August of 2000 my then 5 y.o. daughter got her hair cut for the first time at the Harmony Barbershop. We had a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it ... Maura evened the length of her hair, then put a french braid in the front, added streaks of purple gel (to match her outfit), and sprinkled it with pixie dust (confetti).

Cissy also rec'd a pair of "ears" that said "First Hair Cut," a cute certificate and some Mickey stickers.

My grandson also got a haircut and pixie dust. We took lots of photos and the cost was just $12 per child ... a bargain!

This past summer we stopped for haircuts and there was a daddy and son getting matching "doos" ... spiked, colored with green gel and sprinkled with pixie dust ... they looked so cute, LOL!

Memaw2Wm - thanks..you answered my question!! I will be there with DD1 and she needs to even her hair out. I have only heard of boys getting their hair cut, so I was glad to hear of a girl who had it done!

Now I am excited for her..maybe I will let DS ge his done too..he doesn't need it either, but he would like it!!!

My DS got their hair cut there last year. It was alot of fun. They loved the gel and pixie dust. This year I have been a holdout for my 2 year old DS. I refuse to cut his hair until we get there again so he can get the ears! Fortunately my boys are very blonde and have quite thin hair so most people don't realize how long it has gotten in the back. Mind you, he didn't even start getting hair until he was a year old!!!

Does anyone know if the barber shop is open for EE or does it open at the regular park opening time?

I would love to get DS's first haircut in February but I don't want to give up an hour of Fantasyland EE time or have to wait in a long line to get it done.

Onecoolmama:

Actually there were a couple of girls in line in front of us, so it's not that unusual for girls to get their hair cut.

It's lots of fun so be sure and get your DS's haircut too! My g'daughter has decided that she'll only get her haircut at Disney, LOL!

The Barber shop is only open regular hrs on EE days also. They are normally open from 9am to 5pm (We go regularly for DS's haircut as we have AP's and live in FL). Maura has mentioned though that you should get there no later than 4pm if you plan to go in the afternoon, as they have to lock the doors shortly after then to be able to actually close by 5pm. They had there hrs cut back:rolleyes:

Off post...but Scoootch.....happy baby day!!! Hope you're feeling well and things go smoothly! You'll soon be doing the single digit dance.... well maybe the single digit shuffle!! ;)

We just had my son's first haircut there on Friday morning. We got there at 9:30 and only had to wait for 1 child in front of us. My 4 year old daughter kept busy with the characters outside. They gave my son stickers and a spinning mickey (to play with - not to keep) and then sent us off with a first haircut certificate, a lock of his hair, and mickey ears that say 'First Haircut' on them. It cost 12 dollars and we gave 3 more for a tip. Definitely worth it!

My dh has had his haircut there every year since it is such a fun experience - Last year I had my twin girls (they were 22 months old) get their first haircuts done there and they loved it! They loved getting the Mickey ears and the certificates. Dh got his haircut and got paint and glitter in his hair. My dad is bald and got a Mickey head painted on his head. It really is a great experience - the only downside is that they do not take reservations - first come first serve! The bonus is when the Barbershop quartet comes in and sings!

The barbershop is the very 1st thing on our itinerary for our little guy's 1st haircut(15 months old). DH has been itching to get it cut as it's getting kind of long in the back but I told him he better not touch one little baby hair on his head until we're on Main Street!!!

I was talking to Dh yesterday about it and we decided that all of us DD1 DS2 DH20something and I 20ish are all going to have our hair cut there ! WHHHOOOO HHHOOO..I think I am just going to have my bangs trimed, but we will see. I better start packing the car..we leave at 4:30 to get to the airport on time!

I'll report how the haircuts went!

We took my Grandson for his first haircut in Aug. He was 19 months and we had to wait a while. Well, when it was his turn he was tired of sitting and started to cry. I thought all was lost! But wait! Out came the stickers and toys and Billie was just wonderful!!! She played and talked until the crying stopped and we had a great haircut. He laughed and we took pictures. Pappa even got his hair cut. All 5 of us were covered with pixie dust and sent out for a magical day ºoº

We have had DD's hair cut there every time we go, last year the Dapper Dan's even were there and sang to her. This year we got DS hair cut for the first time (5 Months) and the pictures are priceless and Michel didn't charge us for it. Even got the ears and certificate. Of course I gave him a healthy tip nonetheless. This Christmas, we plan on getting their haircut again and I am planning to take a picture of Michel and DS back to have him sign it and I think they have a book that they keep pictures in of them and thier customers.
