Hi everyone!

Just found out I'm pregnant!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!! My husband and I had every intention of taking a very relaxing babymoon cruise to the Caribbean, but with the Zika virus thing happening, those plans have been cancelled.

I still want to take a relaxing vacation, but am not sure where to stay in Orlando. I'm not necessarily thinking about going to any of the parks, but would like a hotel where we don't have to go off property for anything. We won't be renting a car, but will hail a cab if we have to go anywhere. We're looking for calm, soothing, and relaxing...No fuss, no muss...Can anyone help me? We are not opposed to staying on the property of ANY park (Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland, etc), but we just aren't planning on VISITING any of the parks (since I most likely won't be able to ride much anyway)...I kinda want everything within walking distance...i.e. restaurants, pool(s), spa, gift shop, even a few other hotels...that kinda thing.. Any and all suggestions/recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Thanks much!!!!!!!!

For calm, soothing and relaxing, I'm not sure I would recommend a resort tied to a theme park. You have lots of large families, lots of excited -- and noisy -- kids, lots of coming and going, crowds, etc.

Are you sure you want to visit Orlando for a relaxing trip? Perhaps a beachfront resort in Florida?

I gotta agree on maybe not Orlando...I don't usually put relaxing and Orlando in the same sentence, at least not if that's my only goal.

If you're worried about the Caribbean, why not try a little more north and go to Bermuda?

We recently stayed at Portofino Bay at Universal and I can honestly recommend the Universal hotels as relaxing, gorgeous, and sort of self-contained. You won't need a car as you can use internal shuttles, the water taxis, and lovely landscaped walking paths to walk between the resorts and citywalk, which has shopping and any kind of dining you can think of. Pool hopping is permitted and encouraged! If you're not going into the parks, you might consider cabana bay resort as it is the lowest price usually.

If money is no object, consider the yacht and beach club at Disney - you are in short walking distance to the yacht club, beach club, and boardwalk resorts with lots of dining and great pools - although pool hopping is prohibited. I think we also could have enjoyed a no-park vacation from the Wyndham Bonnet Creek (vacation ownership aka timeshare resort) but I would have needed a car for dining choices, though these rooms have kitchens.

Congratulations on your pregnancy and have fun planning your trip!

Thanks for the suggestions. I wanted to stay in Orlando since this is a place we are generally familiar with, and know that we are easily able to get to via non-stop flights...Also, like I stated before, we aren't renting a car, and we know that most hotels have access to shuttles or taxis if we so choose to use them. I am not familiar with anywhere else enough to know if we can get the same kind of "accessibility", which is extremely important to us. I will look into other places, but I'm pretty sure Orlando is where we'll end up :D

Thanks so much for your hotel suggestions. I really like the way you described Portofino Bay! It sounds more closely related to what we are looking for! :D

I second the idea of Portofino Bay - I was there for a work meeting but loved the hotel and would go back just to stay there.
