My DD bought her friend the baby cakes cake pops maker at Kohls. She'd also like to give her friend the ingredients needed to make a batch. After reading the Kohls reviews, I read that you can use a regular box of cake mix. 1 reviewer said to cut the cake mix recipe by 1 egg and a 1/4 cup of something- any idea if it would be water or oil? What kind of chocolate do you dip the cake pops in? What else should we include in a gift basket? We don't want to open the box, so we can't read the included recipes.

For those who have tried the Cake Pops Maker out, do you find a ziplock bag is the best way to fill the holes? If so, DD will give her friend a few ziplock bags too.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago. You can get more recipes online at the babycakes website.

I use the ziplock sandwich bags to fill mine. I have made two cake recipes so far-the vanilla one included in the box and a chocolate cake mix one. I used 1/2 the amount of water it called for and replaced it with milk, I think you are suppose to add an extra egg, not take one away (I just used the required 3 eggs from the box instructions). I also added in one package of chocolate instant pudding to make it thicker.

I have also made muffin balls in the machine. One was from scratch the other a mix-I just cut down the liquids so it's thicker with the mix.

I use candy melts from the bulk section of my grocery store to dip them. You can also use almond bark or chocolate bark. You can thin the chocolate a bit by adding in a drop of oil or some crisco-don't add too much.

I purchased some plastic mini forks (in with the toothpicks) for the cake pops as I can re-use them over again. I also bought a foam flower block to hold them as they aren't round like the sucker ones.

I just use a regular cake mix as instructed on the box. They seem to be fine?

I use Wilton candy melts to cover them with. I get these at Michaels.

Throw in a container of sprinkles! I recommend the bigger sprinkles, not the sanding sugar kind.

I made up a cake pop basket for a silent auction at work this year. We included -- the Bakerella Cake Pops book, lollipop sticks, two cake mixes, two tubs of icing, and three kinds of sprinkles.

I just made some chocolate oatmeal muffin balls using the cake pop machine. After doing a batch (12) I decided to add a peanut butter roll to the center for the next batch.

I bought a cake decorating kit to insert some icing into the center of the cake pops. I wish I had thought of asking at the pharmacy for a syringe (for medicine) to use as it wouldn't have cost as much-free up here.
