Babycakes: allergy-free favorites?

Perhaps it was coconut milk? Those do look like regular milk cartons.

Thats what I was wondering as well. I thought that the bakeries were completely dairy free. I've never seen anything dairy related in either the Downtown LA or Larchmont stores

Is this place nut free as well?

I took this from their website, on the FAQ section :

Are you nut free?
It has recently been called to our attention that the FDA now categorizes coconut as a treenut. For this reason, we cannot claim to bake without treenuts as coconut oil is an essential part of our products. This is the only nut with which we bake.

Also, our gluten free flours are packaged by Bob's Red Mill on equipment that also packages hazelnut and almond flours. For these reason, we are unable to refer to ourselves as a "nut free facility."

We actually just got back from picking things up at Babycakes out here in LA!

The only thing I really have not liked is the Red Velvet cupcake. I find it way too dry for me. Also, I usually take off most of the frosting from the cupcakes....I find it way too sweet.

Otherwise, I have had:
the cupcakes (various flavors)
donuts
macaroons
black and white cookies
Thin Mints
Brownies

I do like the cookies, but I am only allergic to eggs and nuts so I just prefer to make my own cookies at home. Its not that difficult and its not worth the $1.50/cookie to buy them there

We're also from L.A. and prefer Rising Hearts bakery in Culver City, over Babycakes. i do like the babycakes cookies, but most of their cupcakes are a bit dry and not very sweet.

We are at Babycakes in DTD all the time and have yet to have a dry cupcake.

My son and I loved everything we got from Babycakes. I especially liked the brownie cupcakes. My only question is I thought that individual servings were considered a snack on the DDP. I even had a paper from babycakes saying it was but the man at the checkout register said it was only covered as a dessert in a quick service credit. I was planning on getting the baked goods one way or the other, it was just our last day and we were trying to use our leftover snack credits.

I'm not a huge fan of Babycakes cupcakes. But I usually just make my own anyway. I go mainly for the donuts, black and white cookies, and thin mints because those are much more difficult for me to make at home.

I just looked up Rising Hearts Bakery...I saw that they only have some vegan things. What I really like about babycakes is that everything is safe for me (except for a few things that have ginger in them).

In addition, theres no risk of cross contamination since there are no eggs at all (and apparently my egg allergy is getting worse).
