My kids never worked with them but these look good! As an aside, my little one LOVED the Jumparoo (completely different kind of equipment, but it kept her occupied for about 30 minutes at a time - a Godsend!!!).

I can't believe your baby is only 6 months away!!!

I used the Ergo with my dd last year, and we LOVE it!! Are you familiar with that one? She was 7 mos old last year when we went to Disney. WE were there for a full 12 hrs and she did great. I even carried my sleeping 4 1/2 yr old from Cinderella Castle, down Main Street and out of the park in the Ergo. They TOTALLY rock!!

We probably pushing 8 months now... I have to change my ticker. As long as she's home by Christmas :yay:

A little off topic, but back when I had infants, the snugli was one of the few carriers available, and I used one with both babies. I remember people coming up and asking me "Can the baby breathe in there? Aren't you afraid of suffocating her/him?" :rotfl:

The hip hammock is supposed to be very painful to use. I guess it pulls on your neck and shoulder.

The Moby wrap gets great reviews. I never used that one personally, but most people seem to love it.

Our workhorse carrier is definitely our Ergo ( http://www.ergocarrier.com/ ). It's awesome! My DD is a very large baby, and it works great for her. I'm going to buy the Ergo newborn insert for it when we have our next one (we bought it when our DD was past the newborn stage).

When DD was a newborn, I used the Sears Sling, which I didn't love. I also bought a "Peanut Shell" ring sling, which I did like. It is best for the little ones IMHO, though. Now that DD is a toddler, I don't use it anymore. I use the Ergo every day, though!

I was going to recommend Mothering.com as well for reviews of different types of carriers.

Alot of it is personal and what feels best with your body and baby. You might have to try a couple of different styles to find one you love. Good luck!

My son is only 11 days old but I love my ultimate baby wrap...it can be used as a front pack, back pack, sling, hip pack or belly to belly...its for newborn - 2 years old I beleive..it does take a bit to get used to putting it on but it doesnt kill my back/neck like my reg carrier did....

Kim - your baby is probably being born, or about to be born right now! Aren't you excited? I am excited for you!

I don't have any advice on the slings. We used a "front pack" for a little while which was a hand-me-down, but it wasn't very comfortable and I was always afraid the girls (as in my kids :) ) would fall out.

I used Baby Bjorn with my kids, but that was eons ago.

That said, I still consider the sling to be the best and most important baby product, especially with my oldest. He was so colicky, I thought I'd never be able to comfort him, and then I found the sling. It was a godsend, that is for sure! :goodvibes

Both my kids were colicky! I wish I had known about the slings. No one I knew used one, so I didn't really know what they were all about. It would have saved a lot of parental pain during those early times.

I know!!!! I don't know whether to be :scared1: or :cloud9: or :yay: ... I think a little of everything!!!!

Thanks everyone :goodvibes

I never really could get the hang of a ring sling. I reallt felt better with a meitai when "Tink" was really little.

I have a baby bjorn, and I'm just kind of blah about it. It gets warm, and my oldest didn't care much for it until she weighed enough to face the front. I haven't tried it with my youngest DD yet.

Kind of OT, but I would suggest getting an excersaucer - next to bouncy seats, they are one of the best inventions ever, IMHO.

The Moby looks good, similar to the Didymos I have that was my favorite carrier with my older dd. Those types are perfect for babies who need to be held all the time since they make it comfortable to carry for long periods of time.

I'd absolutely avoid the hip hammock. Just looking at it makes me hurt.

I'm not sure about the Mei Hip, as I think I'd go with a regular MeiTai instead if I wanted that sort of carrier. A friend has one and likes it.

I'd also recommend the Ergo. I have a similar carrier that isn't as nice looking but works the same way (a friend has the Ergo). I love it and it worked very well for my younger dd. It is one of my 3 top carriers.

With my younger dd I primarily use a Maya Wrap (which I also used some of the time with my older dd), which is an unpadded ring sling. This worked best for her because she didn't like be carried quite as much and liked to change positions often.

So basically I recommend a Maya or the Moby or Ergo.... or all 3 for different times and reasons. I'm a bit of a baby carrier junkie, but since my youngest is almost 3 I don't use one often anymore!

I used a Baby Bjorn for both my boys; if you adjust the fit well (the 'X' at the back needs to be in the right place, basically at your bra level) it distributes the weight well, so less back pain. My first son really liked being able to face outward, which is common, but my youngest preferred facing in and snuggling to my chest, which is apparently unusual for an older baby.

Not sure if the first item you show will accomodate an older baby who prefers facing outward? I thought the Mei one looked comfortable, and I've always heard raves about the sling, but never used one myself.

Oh, and congratulations! :)
