dd and baby now live here, has done for a few weeks. She is on benefits. She has mentioned and seems quite worried as she thinks that once the baby is 6 months old -she will be told to look for a job or go on a college course. due to difficult circumstances all her mail goes to her flat in Manchester. So she doesnt know whether she has mail telling her this from the jobcentre??
Baby is now 7 months old and she is worried that her money will be stopped..
This can't be right- surely a new mum can't be sent out to work when the baby reaches 6 months??
does anyone know??

Cant answer your question Netty but I hope she gets it sorted.

Sara. :)

thanks, past few weeks been a bit of a nightmare, but hopefully we can help her as much as we can.

With love and support from family you can get through anything.
Hope everything works out for the best for DD & Grandson :grouphug:

I have no answers what's so ever but do have lots of best wishes to send so hope they make up for it!

I'm sure everything will work out OK - especially as she has a great family to support her.

I hope it all works out ok Jeanette. :grouphug:

Hi

I presume your daughter is claiming Income Support as a Lone Parent?

If she is - she will attend your local Jobcentre Plus every six months for a Work Focussed Interview. This interview whilst mandatory is not to force her back to work. She will be given details of the help and support available to her if she chooses to return to work.

The rules are gradually changing for lone parents each year until 2010 - then any lone parents (although there are exceptions) who have a youngest child aged 7 or above will be required to actively seek work and claim Jobseekers Allowance.

Hope that puts you and your daughters mind at rest.

Sam x
