Baby Wearing

My DH, DD and I will be in WDW in April. DD will be turning 7 months the day we arrive and it will be our first visit with an infant. We will definitely have a stroller with us but I do plan to wear her as much as I can as she naps being worn a lot better than in the stroller. Can those of you who have been in the same situation let me know if there are any rides you can't wear baby on? Any tips for baby wearing in Disney? I am unsure of how she will do sitting up by that point in time so if she can't be worn we will hold her on our laps. Thank you! :)

They will make you take her out on rides like Winnie the pooh and Peter pan and face her forward even when sitting on your lap. The train is nice and breezy if she falls asleep and you want to sit down.

I honestly don't think there is any consistency when it comes to this. When we had DS with us (he was 3 months old) I was not asked to take him out of his carrier EVER. Not on Winnie the Pooh, not on Peter Pan...nothing. I wore him on everything.

But, I do see posts on here where people were asked so....

I'm curious as to what you all like to wear. I am looking at upgrading and getting a new carrier. I really like the bola but, it only ff. But, I really like all the support it offers.

I disagree with being forced to face forward. We took our lil girl to DL and DW 2x in the past 2 years and wore her every time on rides and she at times would face in or out depending on her mood.

As for rides, no height but they do recommend that you don't go on the fast ones (and I would agree that you don't feel comfortable anyway). i.e. ones with height restrictions. The rides usually have the bar come down and as long as she fits under it; I feel fine taking the ride with her in a Ergo.

Wearing babies is the easiest way to get them to be happy and you as you walk so much as it is.

I think it depends on the cast member working. I was asked 2 times on our last trip to remove her from the carrier... It was Peter pan and Winnie the Pooh. They made her face forward and under the bar. Which if u ask me they are safer in the carrier. :rotfl2:

I wore my then 5 month old in the parks back in October. He took naps in the carrier like your LO will. It was pretty hot, so I was glad to have a Lillebaby Complete Airflow. My LO tends to be hot anyway, so it's a good choice for us year-round. I loooove the Lillebaby, it is very comfortable for me and easy to use.

I use an Ergo. I wore my daughter ALL day some days and while my back aches some, it was probably more from walking/standing and after a nights rest I was ready to go again.

They made me take my 11 month old out on the carousel. I argued for a minute because I was alone with 2 kids. I don't see how it was safer for me to have two kids on horses instead of 1 on a horse and 1 completely secured in a carrier. Ultimately, since my 11 month old was old enough to sit and ride I didn't argue, but I would have questioned it more if she was unable to sit up on her own.

Other then that on every trip, I've worn my kids on basically every ride without a height restriction. Occasionally in my ring sling, but 99% of the time in one of my Tulas. I also wear my youngest for fireworks (starting with her first trip at 11 months) and just get her as high on my back as possible.

That's odd, I was never asked to turn DD around to be forward facing on any rides in 3 different trips wearing her.

As to the OP, I wore DD on everything we took her on that didn't have a height restriction. I found that I wore her 75% of the time in Disney world just because she could go on almost everything there. On the couple of days we visited Universal, she spent most of her time in the stroller just because she couldn't go on most things and it was easier than taking her in and out of the carrier.

I wore both my DD on our trips when they were both around 10 months old. I agree with PP. It really must depend on the cast members. I had read on here prior to our first trip with ODD that I would be asked to take her out or face fwd on some rides. As my Ergo doesn't allow FF I was curious to see what would happen. I was not once asked to take her out or to face her fwd. This includes TSM.

I have a Boba so there is no FF available for me so I am hoping they don't give me any trouble. I can't imagine carrying her around when she's not in the stroller so I am hoping DH and I can take turns wearing her lol. I guess it seems that it really depends on the CM on the ride which is kind of crazy - you think there would just be one solid rule about it! Oh well, thanks for all your answers! :)

My son will be 23 mos next time we go.
I was planning on back carry in an Ergo.
I also plan to have a stroller.

What problems should I anticipate?

I think, while it is cast member dependent, it's also dependent on the mom/baby combination and how they are carried. The lap restraint on the ride must be able to come down, so if baby is in the way, baby needs to be moved. What might work for some, may not work for others. When my (now)ex carried my son, front facing, in a moby wrap, when they sat down, it was like my son was sitting on dad's lap. That wasn't the case when I used the moby (not my carrier of choice) and sat down simply because we're built differently (he's got a foot+ on me).

Just be willing to remove/adjust baby if necessary and there are so many carriers out there that if you have one that is hard to do that with, then I'd suggest looking into another one (not trying to be snarky, just saying there are A LOT of carriers out there - way more than when I was babywearing my now almost 8 year old).

I wouldn't expect to leave baby in a back carrier on a ride at all. (Plus, I'd be really uncomfortable for you on a ride, I think).

We just went last month with our baby who was 7 months at the time and I wore him. I have a beco gemini. Yeah I guess it depends on the CM, I was never told to remove him from the carrier or face him forward in it. Same experience with #3 when we took him when he was 4 months old....in the same carrier. I wore him on almost every ride. Anyway, love the beco....it's comfy and can be easy to nurse in once you figure it out. :)

I have a boba too, it's only inward facing - and we are going next week. Will report back. (my 3 month old is napping in the boba as I type!)

I carried my DS @ 5 weeks old, my DD1 @ 4 months old and my DD2 @ 4 weeks old all around WDW. The only ride I was ever asked to remove any of them was on the carousel. I could keep them in the carrier, but then I would have to sit in the sleigh. I agree that the baby was safer in the carrier, but that was my DD1 @4 months so I was comfortable putting her on the horse with me. I sat in the sleigh last year with DD2 @ 4 weeks. Just so I could ride with my husband and older kids, though the sleighs are no fun to me.
Just make sure you have a carrier you are comfortable with and enjoy your trip!
