BABY WATCH 2008 part 1 (SIOH)

Great Brooke.. I'll make sure my phone is charged and carry it on me!!! I'll call Buffy and make sure she posts.. I'll try to beat DH to the first post! LOL

Tell him the games are on!!!

Good night sweetie.. this is your last day as a pregnant woman.. tomorrow you are a MOMMY!!!

We still have some things to buy.. My kids were asking today if we could finish up this weekend and mail the first of the week.. so that is the plan... My gosh if my kids lived close you'd have no room for all the toys they'd be bringin' over!!!

Good luck in the AM.. and I'll talk to your DH soon!!!! unless of course you want to chat for a while.. if the nurse gives you any static tell DH to call me.. I'll fight for ya!!!

My mother loves to tell me about the problems I caused!! I was supposed to be due on August 12th. . .I came on September 14th. It's pretty funny now, because I'm always the one saying, "Let's go, let's go, so we're on time!!" For the last month that Mom carried me, the doctor told her (brace yourself) to drink Jack Daniels mixed with 7UP every night to "encourage" me to come on out. Yep, and you've always wondered what was wrong with me. . .:rotfl:

you get back what you gave brooke. remember that!!!!!!!
:rotfl: jd and 7up! ok that explains alot!!!!:rotfl:
just kiddin'!!!!!

DS: right there w/ me holding my hand and taking picture... oh wait.. it gets better.. snapping pictures of everything.. the kids first moment w/ their brother... the room, the baby, me... us... wait.. wait.. ready?? HE FORGOT FILM IN THE FRICKIN' CAMERA!!!!

OMG! are ya kiddin'?????? it's funny now, but probably not then!!!!!!:rotfl:

OMG! I cried so hard... I just couldn't understand why he couldn't check for film... now my kids laugh and ask him if he really knows how to work the digital or should mom explain calmly before she puts all the curse words in it because you messed up... he is a techno nerd but that day there was just too much excitement..

Ok, I'm off to bed... my cell is charging.. I'll do a quick check in before DH steals my computer in the AM...

What a fun thread! Baby watch! So very exciting.

DD- DH was out of town working when I told him I thought I was in labor. (I had actually called my mom earlier and they were on their way to be with me bc DH was out of town.) DH basically walked out of work (he was working at his parents restaurant- some tables may have been left high and dry! :lmao: ). DH and my parents were driving the same distance basically and DH beat my parents (and my parents had a head start). At 2:30 in the morning, I was like, lets get this show on the road so we went to the hospital. They gave me Demoral (sp?) to take the edge off and I was a happy camper and then I get the epidural and I am pretty sure I told the anthesiologist that I loved him. :lmao: I then slept. Yep, slept. DH asked the nurse if I was supposed to be sleeping. They had to wake me in between pushes. DD was born at 6:45 a.m.

DS wasn't as pleasant. I had been having contractions all day and finally around 9:30 in the evening they were close enough and long enough to go in. We got there, got all situated and had everyone there (yep, all moms and dads and one sibling- same scenario with DD). The nurse checked me 2 hours later and I hadn't progressed so she sent me home. I was a wreck and DH was sleeping on the couch. :headache: They gave me a sleeping pill to take when I got home. I shot out of bed at 4:30 in horrible labor. DH drove 90 to the hospital. The nurse accidentally broke my water and I nearly didn't get the epidural in time, but she was amazing and made it happen. (I got a clicker for the epidural this time and I was a happy camper.) Someone forgot to page my doctor, so DS should have been born around 7, but at 9 (yes, 2 hours later) my doctor came running down the hall and he was born 20 minutes later.

Sorry to ramble, but like Holly said, I love these days. Such happy, sweet days!

I went into labor video taping DH whitewater canoeing the Farmington River. I slipped on some leaves and went plop down on my butt. 9.3 pounds of baby causes for your water to break prematurely. I was the talk of the maternity ward. I vividally remember DH and I driving to the hospital just the two of us, knowing the next time we were in the SUV there would be a family of three.

Oh, crumb, where are the kleenex? I love baby watch days!!!!

BAMB, you know how to reach me.

Today is baby day!!!! :cool1: Won't be long now and SIOLB will be here!!!!

I've loved all the baby stories. My DS decided it was time to be born 3 days early. My water broke right as I was about to take a shower. I went and told DH and his said "Are you sure, the football game is about to start?"!!!! So, off we go to the hospital and I get situated in the room and DH has found the game on the tv. It was the University of Florida vs. South Carolina game and DH is a big UF fan. Now, every year when UF plays SC, we remember DS's birth. Anyway, I get the meanest anesthesiologist that there is and he gives me an epidural. At first, it feels great, no pain. Then, the pain starts coming back. Well, the meanest nurse on the planet won't believe me that I'm in pain. Finally after screaming at her, she gets another anesthesiologist to come in and he says the first guy didn't do it right. So, I get another one and fall in love with this guy because this one worked great and he keeps coming back and checking on me and he's really cute and sweet. Nurse shift changes and we get the nicest nurse this time. Well, 14 hours later (at least DH got to see the whole football game!) and DS isn't coming out and my DR is getting worried about him so they decide on a C-section. I get the shakes and am terrified and they won't give me anything other than the epidural and I'm freaking out. Then, they get me in the operating room and I can see what they are doing in the lights above!!!!! I freak some more! DH watched the whole thing and thought it was so cool! We hadn't found out what sex our baby was, so when the doctor pulled the baby out, he looked at his face and said "this looks like a boy face, what do you think" to the other doctor. He agreed. Then, my doctor says "let's check it with the other end"!!! And, it matched, he was a boy. Then, I threw up! That was the only time during my whole pregnancy that I threw up. But, my wonderful anthesiologist was ready and held the bucket for me!

i am just loving all these baby stories. please keep them coming.

dit how old is your little man now?

dit how old is your little man now?

Well, he's not so little anymore. DS is 15 and he thinks he is very grown up. I don't know where my little baby boy went!!! He grew up way too fast. He hates it when DH and I start talking about what he used to do when he was a little guy, but I love seeing him blush and, secretly, I think he likes the stories.

that's how i feel. my baby boy. and he's only 6! i try to savior every moment of it. i don't want him to grown up! and i'm sure he does love it when you and dh talk about him as a little guy but he just doesn't want you to know it!!!!!

and i thought it was funny that dh said the football game was on. it's all about you honey!:rotfl: hello, i'm having a baby here!!!!!:rotfl:

I've loved watching my DS grow up, but I do miss those little boy days! But, each age has been special and I do look forward to all the years ahead. He was so sweet when he was little, though. Now we have to deal with that teenager attitude!!!!

DH gets teased alot about his football comment when my water broke! Every year when the game comes on, I remind him!:lmao:

I love the baby stories also... I have two of my own, but no more for us.

With DS, born at 36.5 weeks 24 hours of labor, not drugs for 18 hours, then an emergancy c-section because DS was to large (8 pounds 9 ounces). Now remember he was early! He spent a few hours in the NICU but not long.

With DD, scheduled c-section at 36.5 weeks another large baby 9 pounds 9 ounces. No drama in the hospital, just major drama after we got home.

Both good babies, but mom can not have any more because of a medical condition, so I had a tubal. So now I get to live throught all my friends and cousins having babies.

SIOH, good luck this morning and give Dalton a kiss from his GA auntie!

S :)

yes my mom was in labor for almost 48 hours! They don't let you do that anymore :-)

Oh yes they frickin do if you live in the UK! Both my neices were born on Sundays and both times my sister went into labour on the Friday!

Oldest daughter she went into labour about 5am on the Friday morning, birth was about 5pm Sunday. Youngest daughter she was in labour Friday afternoon, birth was late Sunday evening. So they really let you string it out if you live here!

I can't wait to see SIOHB!

First one, I thought I had eaten some bad Chinese food. I didn't know it was labor. It started around 6pm Sunday with sporatic cramping. Got pretty icky during the night. Didn't go to work Monday and made them put a note on my computer that it was sickness, not baby coming. They had a pool to see who could guess the birth date and time. Made an appointment to see the doctor in the office around lunch time. They checked me and told me to go straight to the hospital. Asked me if I wanted the epidural and I told them no. The pain wasn't really that bad, and I don't do pain. I hate needles.
We didn't start pushing until around 7. Then it was too late for the epidural.
I remember being so tired from my ineffectual pushing, that I wanted a c-section. DH still teases me about my "just take him, I can't do it anymore". Even though we didn't know "him" was a him until he arrived at 10:28pm.

Second one, the labor started in the morning. We went to the hospital around 12ish and the nurse there said, nope you not far enough along go home. This is my second child and she told me to go home. So we do and around 4 I'm in agony. We go back, they say I'm dialated to 9 and I need a room now! I get my epidural at 5, and my Little Bit is born at 8:32pm. That was the best labor and delivery, didn't feel a thing after they stuck me with that needle. I even watched in a mirror. It was the most surreal moment to see him arrive with the classical music playing the background. Course he is my most uncalm child. :lmao:

Happy baby day!!! I'm happy to join in the watching.

And who says that they don't let you be in labor for that long any more? My water broke around 9 am on Sunday and Owen was born at 1 am on Tuesday. Ok, so they were really grumpy about my refusing drugs and refusing interventions, but they let me take my time!

Here are my baby stories:). With DD12, my water broke at 6 a.m. on July 4th. The doctor had me walking the halls of the hospital for hours trying to get labor started, to no avail. She finally started me on pitocin, the most evil thing ever invented. 25 hours later, DD was stuck and the doctor told me that if she didn't move soon, it would be a C-section. And it was....and she's beautiful and worth every stinking minute of that damned pitocin.

DD6.....I was at 38 weeks and I felt awful, but I try to tough things out so when I went to the doctor for my checkup, I told her I wasn't feeling well, but I didn't make a big deal out of it. She decided to run some blood tests and the next morning here is the conversation:

Doc: How are you feeling today?
Me: Lousy.
Doc: Well, that's because your liver isn't working, we need you to come to the hospital now to have the baby.

DH was 2 hours away at work, so I called him, drove myself to the hospital, and 6 hours later we welcomed DD#2 to our family:).

This is my second child and she told me to go home. So we do and around 4 I'm in agony.

That was the same thing for me! I was in tears after the nurse told me to go home. DH was snoring on the couch, I had to throw something at him to wake him up. He hasn't lived that one down yet.

shut up! He did not?!?? Really?!?!? Oh I need to smack him when I see him don't I???

Like I said.. long story..but I was gonna make it work... and have MY baby..and guess what.. things worked out in the end.. and I got 5 babies and a Dh while she is sitting at home w/ NOTHING! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Ok, you all will think I'm nuts..
DD: no meds.. nothin'... they said I do pain well.
DS: no meds
DS: spinal due to c-section but nothing afterwards...

As for going to the hospital and leaving.. I announced very early on.. I go to the hospital once... I will not leave unless my baby is in my hands after I arrive... had they told me to go home.. I would have went and sit in the waiting room and walked the hallways.. or somebody would have been hurt.. probably the one who told me to go home!

Just about an hour and surgery starts... DH will be stealing my computer in about 30 mins... so I'll call Buffy when I hear anything..and I'll catch up tonight... I'm just so mad he decided to work from home today...
