When- May 11-14th

This was the last leg of our Baby Tour 2007 trip down to FL to see baby's great granparents and granparents and uncles. We left KY and stopped in Atlanta before visiting the greatgrandparents in Live Oak. We then went to Miami and finally got to go to Disney for Mother's Day weekend.

We got to AKL on Friday, May 11th at around 4pm and checken in. It was a quick process and we got a very friendly CM. I think he was from Romania but am not 100% sure. He was really sweet and we had a good conversation while checking in. We were given room 5103 and DH's family was given 5104 right next door. These were just standard rooms since when we booked there were no savannah rooms available. They overlooked the lobby so we got a nice view of it.
Here is the view out our front door at night-->

That day we just went to dinner and were exausted after that (since we had already travelled so long!) We had reservations at BOMA. It was pretty good but not as good as it had been the past few times I've eaten there. I'm not sure if it was because of the "Rule of 3" or what.

For those of you who don't know me very well, I will explain my Rule of 3.
When dining at Disney, you cannot hit the same restaurant more than 3 trips in a row. If you do, you will not like it on that 4th time and will find that the food quality has decreased (even if in all actuality it is the same). So before you get to this point, you rotate to a different restaurant instead.

I will say that the squash soup was stellar. I did miss the carrot ginger soup but did like the squash too.

We took the baby with us to dinner and he slept through most of it....unlike the insane kid at the table next to us that kept throwing his silverware on the floor (almost jabbing my MIL in the leg with a fork one time) and screaming at the top of his lungs every time anyone from his family got up from or sat down at the table. The parents didn't even do anything and pretended it wasn't happening. I was just glad that my DS could probably sleep through a bomb explosion once he is in deep sleep. If DS ever does anything like that I will take his little butt back to the room and just ask that DH bring me back something.

After dinner we just crashed. We set up the baby's pack n play in the bathroom section so that there was a little separation. Besides, I don't know where else we would have set it up since ours is kinda big (didn't try the graco one that was provided in our room- the baby had already been moved around so much that we didn't want to make him sleep in an unfamiliar bed too) and wouldn't fit anywhere else in the room. We then took our monitor next door for a little while since the baby was already asleep and just hung out and talked with DH's family. Then came bedtime for us.

Speaking of being tired....I'll write more tomorrow.

I hope you post pics of the little guy.

We ate Boma for the first time this past April, and I thought it was pretty good. I did look ridiculous bring back 4 bowls of soup. I had to try them all. I only had 1/4 of a cup in each.

Thanks for sharing your TR with us.

I always end up carrying at least 3 bowls because all the soups sound really great and I have to try them.

Woke up with the baby around 7 and let DH stay sleeping for a while longer. I put the baby back down after he ate so that I could walk down and get some breakfast. I couldn't really make too much noise in the room (after all, DH had been spending days and days driving...he deserved to sleep in a little) so I walked myself down in my pj pants and a tshirt. So if anyone saw a girl with pink pants that had tiny black hearts on them at Mara around 8:30 am, that was me :)

After an oh-so-healthy breakfast of yogurt with granola and zebra domes, I walked back upstairs to get DH and the baby. We had a couple of errands to run and were going to meet some friends who were driving up from Lake Placid, FL at noon so we had to start getting a move on.

A little past noon we get a call from our friends saying they were in the "Disney complex". We say that we are just driving past the TOT sign and lo and behold, they are behind us not 200 ft away! We drive into EPCOT and go inside. Once there we decided to walk to The Land and see if the fastpasses were still at a good time but they were up to 6pm already so we decided against it and went to Journey into Imagination. The baby liked it! I was a little worried because the part with the train sound gets loud and there are a couple of times that air gets blown at you and I thought he might have gotten scared by it. No way! He smiled and stared the whole way through :)

Afterwards we walked around the WS for a while and bought some stuff and played around. Here are a few pics :) (I'm taking the pics so am not in any of them)

We hit the American Adventure and while watching the Voices of Liberty we had to go change the baby. After changing him, he decided that the changing station in the restroom was a GREAT place to turn over for the very first time. Luckily... I had my camera-

Continuing-
Just as we had walked in and sat down in the theater of the American Adventure, I turn to DH and ask if he had plumphied. He said no. All of a sudden we both get a whiff of the dooke. We made a quick getaway and it was back to the changing station in the restroom. While we waited for our friends to come out, we had some chicken fingers from the little quick service place to tide us over before dinner.
Once they came out, it was time to head to Coronado Springs for dinner at the Maya Grill (the only place we could get a table for 8 for anywhere near 5:30). Food was actually pretty good. We had the appetizer sampler platter that had the black bean chicken rolls, shrimp cocktail, a crap chaluppa thing, and some pork empanadas. I had the catch of the day which was a snapper that was excellent. It was grilled simply and served quite tastily. I also had a pina colada. The food was better than at BOMA the night before but the pina colada was no match to the one at the Poly.

Got up and did the baby's morning routine. Afterwards, DH and I went to buy formula and diapers since we had run out of both. We found out that the walgreens on the 535 by I-4 doesn't carry formula and they were out of his diapers so we ended up hitting the walmart on the 535.

By noon we were meeting DH's parents and brother at EPCOT.
We hit the Mother's Day Brunch in EPCOT. It was outstanding! Even better than last years brunch. There were so many stations and all kinds of food and everything I tried was delicious. They were also really good at making it feel like there weren't lots of people at the venue even though it was packed. Very nice indeed.

While at the brunch, DS was starting to get fussy and crying so DFIL picked him up and walked him around while the rest of us finished eating and were just chatting. Well, there was this statue in the place that DS apparently really liked so there were spending some time there. As they were turned around so DS could get a really good view of the statue, Mickey and Minnie came out from break (they were taking pictures in the lobby section of the brunch place) and saw them there. Mickey tapped DFIL on the shoulder and then played with DS for a few seconds. How cute! And the rest of us are just watching all this take place from our table! Where was my camera!!! :)

After that we did a little bit of shopping around the countries. DH picked two pearls for me and put them on a mother/baby pendant. It's very pretty.

While I was waiting for DH to do all that, I was sitting outside the Japan pavillion when a Disney-Nazi (yes, putting my flame suit on here) came up to this woman who was smoking (yeah, she wasn't in a smoking section but she was alone and far away from everyone else) and was SCREAMING at her about how she was worse than a terrorist and that he was going to call security on his cell phone and get her kicked out of the park. Now, first of all, you don't get kicked out of the parks for smoking. All they will do is POLITELY ask you to put out your cigarette or go to the smoking section. Second, last I checked, you don't get disney security on speed dial. You need to go to a cast member or to a security guard and tell them what's going on (which by the time he did that she would have either been finished with her cigarette or bailed). Third, who was being more disruptive, the woman (who again, was by herself far away from all other people in the open area) or the screaming man (who almost woke up my baby and who was a coward because he would probably never had said anything if it was a big man who was smoking instead of a tiny woman)? Fourth- STOP SCREAMING AND WAKING UP THE SAME CHILDREN THAT YOU ARE CLAIMING THAT THE SMOKING WOMAN IS KILLING!!!

I would have gotten in the middle of it and said something but I was with the baby. As it is, I have trouble keeping my mouth shut (hence the telling the dude that accused me of stealing salt packets to mind his own f-ing vacation) so I would have blown the Disney-Nazi away. Shortly after he fumed past me, a woman asked me what that was about and I just said he was a nut bag. She asked me if he worked there. I just shook my head "No." If I had been that woman I would have told him to go ahead and call security (knowing that he couldn't and that I wouldn't get kicked out of anywhere). If he was a CM (even off duty) I would have complained about him to any management type I could find. As a CM you are always representing Disney even when you aren't working. Screaming at a guest is not proper decorum. Then I would try and walk away. With how insane this guy is, he would have probably tried to physically restrain me. That is when I would scream bloody hell (help, fire, anything like that to get others attentions including the working CMs) and then get security there for assault. I don't put up with crazy. (okay, rant over)

That night DH's parents kept an eye on DS while DH and I went to dinner. We had a crappy time getting reservations anywhere but we ended up at the California Grill in the contemporary. It was nice and had good food but I thought it was too expensive for what it was (even for Disney). Supposedly I should be thankful that I got reservations there since it's uber hard to get them, whatever. I got a cheese plate appetizer and liked all except one of the cheeses. One of the best was a 12 sheep cheese (some guy has 12 sheep and only makes cheese about 4 months out of the year).

Monday morning came and with it a LONG trek to Atlanta. It took us 8 hours and we were exausted by the time we got there. Today we had another 6 hour ride back home. The baby was amazing the whole time.
I did learn one thing.... it will be a VERY LONG time before we drive down to Florida again. I fly.

Like your report so far.... It definatly is different having a baby with you... DS was only 6mo his 1st time.... makes touring much different...

I love the picture of your DS with two of his little fingers in his mouth. It's like he's signing 'Disney World rocks' by throwing some little baby horns \m/ :)
