Baby-swaps

Hi there! No, I don't mean swapping my baby for yours! I wonder if you knowledgeable DISers can tell me more about the layout for baby swap at the parks for the different rides. Is there always a CM at the front of the ride to instruct where to go? How far in do you take the kids for each ride? I'd hate to waste time queing up to be told to go back to the back of the line. Any help would be great. Individual ride memories will do.

We tried baby-swap twice, but found it easier to just use fastpass, instead. At BTMRR, the CM at the outside entrance gave me a baby swap pass to use in the fast pass line when DH got off the ride. We had to wait outside. Same thing at Mission: Space. I have read other posts, however, where people said they were allowed to go through the line on BTMRR. I think it may depend on the CM. We tried asking CMs on a few other rides (Space Mountain, Test Track), but they didn't seem to know the procedure. Since then, we've just used fastpasses instead.

We have found that it works better for our kids to walk around while one of us is on the ride, rather than standing and waiting. In between Splash Mountain/BTMRR, there is a small play area for toddlers that my kids love. At Space Mountain, the non-riding parent takes the kids on TTA. The squirting sidewalk is near Mission: Space and TT at Epcot. The Boneyard playground is near Dinosaur at AK. At DS, our kids like to sit next to the Victory Garden (behind the Turkey leg stand) just before ToT and RnRC, to have a snack.

Of course, this wouldn't be necessary with a younger baby, but I just thought I'd mention it.

we have baby-swapped at Disney, most times they just give you a free fast-pass for the waiting parent, so the 1st parent waits in the normal line and the 2nd parent gets a fast pass. Occasionally they will have you wait by the exit, but that is much rarer. All we do is tell the first CM that we want to swap, and they tell you what to do.

At Universal Studios/IOA they actually have lovely airconditioned rooms for you to wait in, but I assume that it because the parks were built later than the Disney ones.
