are they still ahving the whole family go together? or have they completely changed over to handing out the BS passes?
has anyone used it lately?

What do you mean when you say "...having the whole family go toether" ?

in the past it used to be that the everyone would enter the que and wait together then one would wait with the child while the others rode and then the switch.
but know i hear they have gone to the baby swap passes. the cm at the que entrance gives you a baby swap pass, the first person waits in the stand by and then the second person goes through fast pass when the first is off.

so i wonder are all baby swaps using the passes?

Here's how it worked when we were there in June...

They call it "Rider Switch" now. The whole fam goes to the entrance... standby or fast pass if you have a FP. You tell the CM you want a "Rider Switch". The parent and the kid(s) who are riding get in line and the CM hands a "Rider Switch" pass to the parent not rinding. That "Rider Switch" pass is as good as a Fast Pass and it's valid all day long, you can use it any time you chose. And you can take any eligble children riders on with you when you go back to utilize your rider switch. It worked out great for us.

I've been spending waaaaaay too much time on the Budget Board!! Stroller swaps, fridge swaps...baby swap? :rotfl: I was trying to wrap my mind around that one!!

Every attraction with a height restriction will offer the rider switch pass to be used by the 2nd parent via the FP line. The RS pass is good for that attraction any time that day for up to 3 people. The child who dosen't meet the restrcition must be present when you ask to do the swap.

The only exception is Star Tours where everyone still waits together, first party rides and then the second parent rides.

So does that mean if you have one child who can't ride and one who can, then the tall enough child can ride twice, once with each parent? Is this one pass for all rides or just that one ride?

We have found it easier to Fast Pass the rides in which we want to do a child swap. this way the whole family didn't need to wait in line. We all head to the enterance of the Fast Pass Line and get the child swap pass and the we wait for the others to get off the ride. this way the little kids don't get antsy waiting.

Yes, the Rider Swap pass is good for up to 3 people so the second parent doesn't have to ride alone and taller siblings get to ride both times.

No, you get a separate Rider Swap pass for each attracton you swap.

As I mentioned above;
The Rider Swap pass is good for that attraction on that day and is valid for up to 3 people. The pass will have all the information printed on it including the max number of people and the expiration date. Some of them will be valid for a few days but most are only good that day.

The swap/switch has worked for us well since DD was too short for many of the rides during our last 3 trips. We still get a fastpass if the lines are long and when it is our return time, we go up and ask for the swap/switch pass. If we got fast pass only, DS could only ride one time, since we had only 3 fast pass tickets. He likes the swap pass, and being able to ride twice.

Our next trip we won't have to do it so much because DD is 41 inches tall now, so there are more rides she can go on.

I never had to wait with the little one. I simply told the CM a the ride (usually
there is one outside the attraction). We got the swap pass and then I would go off with the little one and find something to do with her. Hubby and the older one would go on the ride and then meet up with us later. I would then ride with the older one. So yes..older child gets to go twice..which is nice.
Now I have two older ones and they will both get to ride twice.

Yeah, it works well. If you wake up one day on your Disney vacation and you realize you're:rotfl: a bit annoyed with little Jimmy you just go to the park and ask for a different kid for the day. Now you may get one who acts worse than Jimmy but usually just a new face, a new name, and it's good. . .

OMG!! I thought the same thing!! :rotfl: I was like, oh my I think they're taking this one a little too far!!!

My 6 month old really needs to let me get some sleep because I think my brain is seriously sleep deprived!!! :faint:

We did the same thing... combine FP with Rider Switch.

Does the rider switch work with a kid who meets the height requirements but just doesn't want to ride that ride? I've only read that you can use it if you have a child who CAN'T go on the ride.

My youngest DD is 41" but won't want to go on rides like Splash Mountain or Expedition Everest. I have a 50" DD, too, who is pretty timid about rides and may want to skip the coasters.

No - In my experience you can only get the rider swap pass if the child dosen't meet the height restriction. The rider swap pass is issued due to a Disney imposed restriction and we have always found the CM's strict about this and even measuring my dd when she was just a hair over 40" and didn't want to ride TOT.

If a child is tall enough to ride but chooses not to then you can do your own switch using fast pass.
