Baby Slings

I have numberous baby wearing devices. You name it I probablly have one! LOL! Each one serves a different purpose. I have a regular good old ring sling from http://zolowear.com/ in a natural cotton that was wonderful for Disney. They have some beautiful fabrics.
Just my .02 is that babywearing is something you have to start when they are born so you can slowly become adjusted to carrying a child. Meaning that as the child grows, their weight grows and if you carry them from the get go you won't notice how heavy they are. It's diffucult to try and wear a 2 year old when you haven't built up your strength. So as the child grows so will your back strength.

I love my mei tei. http://www.meitaibaby.com/ tons of pictures on the site. They are handmade and gorgeous. I used mine with our 6 month old in Disney last trip. Little ones are worn on the front and bigger kids on your back. Shes 1 now and I haven't mastered getting her on my back but I will! They are $65 plus shipping.

The absolute easiest slings to use are the pocket style. I have had both the New Native and a Hotsling. I love my Hotsling the best. It is versatile, and easy to use. Dh even uses it. :thumbsup2

I would suggest trying it out before you spend a lot of money on a sling. I know that many people swear by them, but they aren't everyone's cup of tea. I have 3 kids and I bought a sling for each of the first two before giving them away. I never felt like they were comfortable or all that safe. I know that it was probably just me and needing to get used to them, but I just didn't have the time to work with it. By DS #3, I broke down and bought a Baby Bjorn. I SOOOO wish that I had spent that money way back with #1. I love this carrier and would recommend it to anyone.

Everyone has their own preferences (even among sling users), so I would advise the old Try-Before-You-Buy adage.

I'm with you. I tried a sling multiple times and never did master it. I have two baby carriers and much prefer using those.

OMG! I know what you mean about not telling DH. I bought a new double stroller while he was in Iraq even though he told me not to  But when he got home he found out that he liked the new stroller.

Too funny! I got our 2nd double stroller without DH blessing while he too was out of town. It is a Mountain Buggy Urban Double and it was very pricey. Been eyeing it for a long time before, just waiting for an out-of-town trip to get it!

I love the Mei Tai baby sling also. Or I should say love the site and her. She was super nice and helpful, but not taking orders when I needed it. So I got one from babyhawk. No problems.

I agree with the other posters about the Kangaroo Korner fleece pouch! It's great! :thumbsup2 I used it with my newborn and we're still using it almost every day now that she is 16 months :)
