When your kids get older, you Have to try the Neverland Club in the Polynesian. I think they have to be potty-trained in order to go. You drop them off at 5:00 and they serve the kids dinner (HardRock charges Extra for the dinner). I think it's $18 per hour for two kids, but both my girls LOVED it. They've gone 4 times and they always want to do an extra night (but it's just too much $$ for more than one night!) Now my oldest turned 12 and there will be no more Neverland Club for them. How upsetting.
But before we brought them to the Neverland Club, we called one of the babysitting services that Disney suggests. We had my girls, 4 & 5, my 4 year old niece and 3 year old nephew. We didn't do Neverland because my nephew was too young and we didn't want to leave him out.
I will tell you that the babysitter that was sent over was excellent. She brought crayons & coloring books and a few videos for them all to watch. I would suggest using them.
Me and my husband are totally devoted to our children.
I'm a Catechist and I am also a Girl Scout leader for 5 years.
My husband is retired and works part time to stay busy and I am a professional who works part-time and we firmly believe that if you have kids, you should involve them in every aspect of your life, because you bore them and because they are Your kids, not someone elses.....
But when you're paying top dollar for a wonderful family vacation, You as the parent deserve Some Time to yourself(yourselves). It makes Mommy & Daddy feel better around the kids and it relaxes you, and if the parents are relaxed and having fun, then so are the kids.
Some posters do not feel the way I do. They'll flame you and call you a bad parent for leaving your kid alone with a stranger in a strange city. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But I say, call the babysitting service and set up a night to go out. Then don't forget to make reservations for dinner and totally enjoy the time to yourselves. The babysitting services do background/criminal checks on their employees - they're also representing Disney and have standards to live up to.
Good Luck and Have Fun!
