If you have ever gone to a baby shower, have you ever gotten a favor? Like a party/baby shower favor? Also, what type of prizes were given out for the different games that were played, and what type of centerpiece did the parties you have attended have? What were the themes of the baby showers you have attended?

I am putting together a baby shower, and trying to get ideas, and a feel of what other baby showers had.

At my daughter's shower, the hostesses had same bakery that made the cake, bake cookies in the shape of mustaches and bow ties as favors.

I've gotten things like cupcakes in a pretty box as favours. As well as chocolates, candy apple, etc. Sweets is the way to go, you can never go wrong with those.

I dont understand, why a mustache for a baby shower? for bridal shower i can understand, but a baby shower? :confused3

Yes, I'm pretty sure that every baby shower I have been to has given out favors to all guests.

The last one, it was some home made chocolates in some special baby-related shape or design (I can't remember exactly what).

I know another I went to a couple years ago gave out little mini-manicure sets.

There have also been prizes for the games--usually gift cards to stores.

I've never been to a shower that had a theme other than "baby" (or maybe more specifically, baby girl or baby boy)

One of today's trends to show that the baby is a boy. I saw a cute reveal done with a mustache on a stick and a bow on a stick. Guest had to pick what they thought the baby was and everyone posed with their appropriate stick. Then when they had their shower they used the same mustache idea as the theme.

I have never NOT gotten a favor at a baby shower! Mostly its chocolate or some type of edible thing. I HATE games but I do recall some prizes- one gave out lottery tickets to winners, another gave out Tupperware.
I don't think I ever recall a centerpiece at a baby shower and the theme was always just "baby shower" LOL---

For some reason baby shower favors tend to be food...sweets, (homemade chocolates, cookies in the shape of baby things(rattles, baby bottles, teddy bears etc). Once the baby shower favor was a small candle with the fragrance "baby powder".

I suppose if you knew what genre the baby was you could "genderize" the shower more...mustaches,soldiers etc. for a boy and princesses or whatever for a girl.

I kind of prefer generic "baby" for a baby shower.

I think for my DDIL's shower, we had decorated chocolate/caramel pretzel sticks for the party favor. For games, the couple of games I remember were giving the guests a ball of string/yarn and making them guess how long a piece would be needed to go around the Mommy-to-be's tummy. The other was fun - guests got tastes of different jarred baby food and had to guess what it was. Some of that is pretty yummy(love the peaches!), but others, not so much!

The last baby shower I went to had candles for the favor- I have never been to one without a favor either. I have gotten little bags of mints, chocolates, jordan almonds, ect many times as favors.

For centerpieces I have seen things like mini diaper and blanket/baby towel cakes, baby bottle bouquets, most of the tie they are made from things the mommy can use and she takes them home with her. I have also seen them done with just sequin shapes on the tables.

I haven't been to a baby shower with a theme except a diaper shower for a 3rd baby once- they asked everyone to bring diapers for their gifts as mommy already had most baby stuff that was needed. Those tend to be smaller with just the closest of friend and family there.

That one has to be the meanest game ever! My friends all knew how I felt about that game and made sure it wasn't played at my shower. You always get some wise guy pulling off like 25 feet of it! I know a lot of other pregnant people who hated that game also so I would never have it at a shower I throw!

DDIL just had a baby shower not too long ago...........no favors.
But it was a huge shower with about 75 people.
Decorations were cute monsters which is what the nursery is decorated in.

I am going to a baby shower today. It's been a while since the last one, but I will let you know about this one. I am just hoping for no games. I really dislike games!

I went to a shower that had lots of games. The winners would get to choose a wrapped gift off of a table. Some of the prizes were lotions/soaps, candles, mugs and plants. I don't recall there being favors, just lots of prizes.

At my shower, we didn't have games but we did give away a few prizes. My sister made the list of gifts/givers and wrote numbers down the side of the page. After the gifts were opened, I drew a few numbers. For example if I drew number 10 and yours was the 10th gift I opened, you got a prize. My sister had made up little gift bags with bath products, coffees and teas, chocolate, etc.

I have been to a couple of showers that did a craft activity instead of games. Like decorate an onesies or bibs with fabric makers

My daughter's baby shower's theme was Ducks. She doesn't know the gender, so the colors were yellow and green. The favors were gourmet mints in a yellow and green organza bags and we made duck chocolate taffies. We played Baby Bingo, where everyone filled in a Bingo card with items they think she would receive. As she opened her gifts, if someone had that item on their card, they crossed it off. There were six winners, each was given a small Yankee candle, wrapped in yellow and green tulle. We also played Guess How Many Sweet Tarts. I filled a baby bottle with Sweet Tarts (one of my daughter's favorite candies). I printed out slips of paper with lines for the guests to write their name and their guess. They were all put into a bin. The person closest won a gift card. We played Who Knows Mommy and Daddy Best. I had chosen questions relating to my daughter and her husband...what is their pet's name, what high school did each graduate from, who is their favorite Disney character, etc.
After everything was opened I asked them the questions. Whoever got the most correct, got a gift card. We also had a door prize winner. I bought tickets at Party City and included one in the invitation. Everyone was to bring their ticket with them and put the stub in the bin. We picked a winner, who received a gift card.
Oh, forgot Baby Price Is Right. I filled one of those storage bins with baby items...a pack of diapers, wipes, powder, onesies...I would pick stuff up whenever I went shopping. I kept track of how much I spent. I had the bin on display for the guests to look over along with a printed list of each item in the bin. They had to guess how much everything cost. Whoever can closest won a gift card.

Never been to a baby shower that had favors nor one with a theme. Closest to a theme I guess would be having coordinated napkins, plates, cups and tablecover. Usually the cake was the centerpiece or perhaps a small balloon bouquet.

Prizes are generally small things like votive candles or the small size lotions/bath gels. Nothing extravagant.

So the baby shower I went to today had favors and games with prizes. If there was a theme, I would say it was monkeys which was how the nursery was decorated. The only thing that really followed the theme was the cake which featured a monkey and I think the invitation did as well. Many if the gifts were monkey themed as well---bedding, mobile, lamp, diaper bag, etc.

There was a small pot of mums as the centerpiece on each of the tables (5) as well as a row of them behind the cake. We played an unscramble the words game all of which were related to baby. The other game was the bingo game where we filled in the cards ahead of time with the items we thought she might get and then marked them off as she opened them. The prizes were things like candles and body lotion. The mums were also prizes--we got to pick either a bagged gift or a mum. The bagged gifts went first.

The favors were candy. They had a candy table and we had cellophane bags that we could go up and fill with the candy they had--skittles, m&m's, Reece's pieces, little Hersey bars, Hershey kisses, candy corn and Swedish fish.

There were about 35 people there. We had wedding soup, salad and they had a pasta bar. Dessert was cake and ice cream. I think it was a nice party overall.

For my shower, we gave out M&M's that were personalized. It's all personal preference.

The last baby shower I went to the favors were small bottles of scented hand sanitizer from Bath and Body Works and a lollipop. It had a cute saying attached but I don't remember what it was.

The gifts were baby items, intended to give back to the mom. Diaper rash cream, wipes, things along that nature. I hate baby shower games. The only baby shower I have thrown have been coworker showers and I forego games for conversation.
