Hi! I am invited to a baby shower this weekend. The shower is for a lady I worked with several years ago. It is kind of funny, she and I were both trying to have a child for many years and we both have one now within a few months of each other. We have kept in contact over the years.

Anyway, she has since moved about an hour away from me. I have a baby who is 6 weeks old ... I know it is not normal to take a baby to a baby shower. Is it just horrible to take a baby to the baby shower? I know that she will not see my baby for awhile if I don't take him ( ... and I am not use to leaving him for that amount of time yet ;) ).

Any advice???

I would check with the host of the baby shower & the honoree to see if it is ok. If I was hosting or the honoree, I would say fine. However, I love babies! :teeth:

I agree with weirdeyes, I don't see how it would be a problem but ask first.

I think it's acceptable - but I would of course double check.

In stinkerbelle's world:

baby at a baby shower - acceptable

baby at a bridal shower - no. (it's about the bride, not the baby - I've seen many babies overtake the bride and it's not fair.)

I agree with the previous posters. Check with the hostess. I am sure she will love the idea.

Call the host first, but I'm sure it'll be fine. It's a " baby " shower after all ;). I know if I was the host, I would not have any problem with this...and I've hosted a few baby showers.

Check with the hosts first to make sure the environment is appropriate for one... they, along with small children, are almost always welcome at ones I have attended, but I have heard of some baby showers being more formal and adult only, so I'd check to make sure.

And I agree, babies/young children at bridal showers are NO - NO's!

It's considerate of you to consider it... many wouldn't give it a second thought.
