Baby on the Safari ride?

Whatever. You just don't get it. You keep arguing on where the best place for the carrier is when my point is- why is the child in the carrier to begin with? I wish you the best. I hope you have great vacations. I hope your child is always safe. That's all.

A carseat is only the safest place for a child to be when it is properly installed with the restraint system it was designed to be used with. Any mfr. will tell you that if you can't buckle it in or latch it to a bar, you really shouldn't be depending on it for safety. Infant carseats are made to fit on strollers and shopping carts for *convenience* reasons; there are no safety standards that apply in those situations.

As to what to do with your carseat in the park? Leave it in your car, where it belongs.

I remember the ride being quite bumpy but my 8 month old fell asleep during the ride. I would just hold his head on your shoulder so it doesn't bobble around.

I will be travelling with my 8 month old....will I be able to take him on the AK Safari??

Wow, lots of drama on this thread.

I just wanted to thank Woodlandsparty for asking this question because I was wondering the same thing as we will have 13 months old twins our next trip and I know our 7 year old loves this ride.

I agree with a poster earlier in the thread tht it is a great ride and we took our 9mo on it with no problems....try to sit closer to the front on the trucks it does seem to be less bumpy up there......hold on tight and point out all of the animals to your little one...they will love it.

/ducks and runs from the drama :rotfl:

Both of my DD's were between 8-12 months when they first rode the AK Safari ride and I (or DH) just made sure we held onto them extra tight when it got bumpy. I'm pretty sure they both ended up falling asleep!

That's what we found too Sydally......Our son was 8 months when he first rode it and as soon as he saw enough animals then he fell asleep......

My ds, was 13mos the first time he rode (but developmentally more like a 10mos old at that time) also fell asleep on AK safari ride. I was holding him, and actually we held him on all rides and I never felt that he wasn't safe in my arms.

Just an fyi about car seats...there have been studies done that show babies oxygen levels can drop significantly when left in car seats too long, not to mention laying down all the time can cause plagiocephaly (something my ds had some experience with due to being premature mainly). The 02 levels dropping for full term infants are not life threatening usually - but still not a good thing. Preemies often have a harder time with it so that is why I was made aware of that issue early on when he was still in that stage of car seat. Just thought I'd mention it.

Wow, I have the Gracco Quattro Tour System too and I would never even think of lugging it around the grocery store let alone Disneyworld. If he is in the seat he's in a cart in a store or in the stroller. But on a ride I dont know if I would. First of all my son is HEAVY. And I find the carseat akward to carry. We are leaving ours at home and just taking the stroller portion of the set when we go in Feb. We are also bringing the Bjorn for rides to strap him to one of us. He loves to standup like a meerkat and lookaround and he's only 3 months old. At 6 months I dont want to take that chance and who knows how big he will be then ( He's about 14lbs now) Even if he is over the 25lbs ( Which Im hoping he wont be) we will put him in the bjorn just for the rides.. Plus that way all three of us get to sit as a family.
