Did anyone use this when they were younger to get a tan?

I don't know what reminded me of this the other day, but I can remember my mom mixing it up for me before I would lay out in the sun.

I must admit, it did promote a good tan!

Now I try and stay out of the sun as much as possible! :sunny:

::yes:: A coworker and I were talking about this the other day. I've always wondered why the combination aided tanning so well, but it did work pretty good.

It worked because it was orange and had no sun block, LOL. :sunny: And yes, as a foolish teen, I did use too, in Maimi Beach no less, when I was there with my buddy, both of us about a lame brain 20 year olds. :faint: But it was in at the time.

Absolutely! And you had to have that reflective silver thing to hold up to your face too! We used to lay out for hours and hours.

How times change.....

Yup.. one of the guilty ones that used that concoction on Wollaston Beach and Nantasket Beach in MA.. Probably the reason why I have those cute little sun damages when I go to the dermatologist. grrrrrrrr

My aunt used it all the time and she would get very, very, very dark.

Yep. My girlfriends and I used to compete to see who could get the darkest. :sad2: Luckily I was more conservative on my face and did use regular suntan lotion.

I had forgotten all about this stuff until I read this post!

When I was little, my mom used to use it when she would lay out on this big beach-towel-sized thing that looked like aluminum foil...I liked to look at the bottle because before you shook it, it looked like a lava lamp!

I always use this! or just baby oil...which is what I used while in Florida!!

Oh yeah, used this combination as well has having the reflective blanket. Bastin' and Bakin', lol.

Summer staple for me as well, and I spent my summers if Florida! Slather it on, hop on the raft, let the sun reflect off of the water, walaa...I'm sure to be taken out by skin cancer. My friends would call me Panama Pam....they said when even your feet are chocolate brown, you're def too tan. I still love the sun, but it's sunscreen for me now!

Yep, We would mix that up,rub it on, put lemon in our hair and sit out on the roof! Talk about roasting! :rotfl:

Exactly what I did. No wonder I run to the doctor for every little spot.

Wasn't iodine just used for a staining purpose? We never used this because mom was one of those sunscreen freaks. I know my MIL used the baby oil/iodine stuff way into the 90's.
