I need help! I've been pouring over baby name books and everything else I can get my hands on to come up with a good baby name. I'm running out of time and don't like anything. :scared: I am having a boy. I have a son named Samuel Joseph and a daughter named Alyssa Jaclyn. I'm really starting to freak out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hello fellow Wisconsinite and Congratulations!!!

We were going to name our baby Wyatt but she was a girl. We picked it about 12 years ago but it does seem to be gaining some popularity.

I've also always liked Colby.

Hope it helps and good luck for an easy delivery.

Oh you HAVE to check out the Baby Name Wizard site. You'll have to google it. It actually gives you names that "fit" with your other kids names! It's so neat and so addictive!

I still visit it for fun! :lovestruc

I had that same problem with my first born DD Ended up naming her Kaylee Willa (after my wonderful aunt Kay and my amazing grandmother Willie), My DS2 I had no choice....had to name him after his daddy....Dale Roger (UGH!!!) I wanted to name him Dale Steven (after my dad too) but alas, he said no.....LOL...

My cousin wanted to name his son Anikin (after starwars.....hes weird).

I really like James Austin........

Don't freak out. You'll figure it out. Sometimes you have to meet the baby to get the right name. For my DD I sent the birth certificate to be typed at the hospital without a first name. They just wanted me to tell them what to put before I left.

I had boys names all figured out. DS is named after his dad, grandpa and great grandpa. Yes, he is a 4th. So the nickname was the bigger question. So Raymond Robert IV is known as Rory.

We did have to get the OK from BIL though. He is a teacher and DH wanted to make sure there were no bad nicknames the other kids would come up with.

I have two girls, and for both pregnancies the boy name we had was Nathan. We would have shortened it to Nate.
Other boy names I love - Parker, Gavin, Ethan, Noah, Charlie
Do you have at least a list of possibilities we could weigh in on?
Congrats BTW!!!

if i had been able to have a son, i was going to name him either Connor Evan, or Connor Douglas (Douglas is my FIL's name). i still really like both names.

My boys are James Michael & Aidan Christopher. I also like Luke for a first name.

my favorite boy name is Ross. I also like Reece, ryan and Noah. I am sure the perfect name will come to you. Neither of our girls had names until they were about 10 hours old. We had a couple of favorites but waited to see what really suited them best. Good Luck!

We had a tough time with boy names. My husband wanted him to be Kenneth Wayne, Jr. I put my foot down on that and said nope...I want him to be his own person. Lol. So after going through the baby name book together and pointing out names we both liked, we found Keegan and without a doubt knew that was it. :D So he's Keegan Alexander.

If we have another boy in the future, he'll be Aiden (not sure of a middle name yet).

My daughter's name is Rhiannon Elisabeth and if I had a boy he would be named Rhys (sounds like reese) Bartholomew

Did you have any specific inspirations for your other kids' names?

We looked to family names for our son, but chose different versions of those names (different names often have the same meaning). My son's names have the same meanings as our mothers' names, only masculine versions.

You can choose a meaning then look at names that have that meaning, you can choose a first letter and go from there, you can choose a specific origin (country or language), etc. There are soooo many names, leaving it wide open with no starting point would drive anyone crazy!

I just had to add that I have a good friend with three kids named Alyssa, Samuel, and Luke (actually Lucas Jackson). :)

Try not to stress out too much. The perfect name will come to you.

Another vote for Reece. I also like Alexander, Nicholas, and Cameron. What about a maiden name that could be a middle name??? I know a lot of maiden names that just aren't right for a middle name, but when they are, it's great! My maiden name is Scott and I just knew if I ever had a boy, that would be his middle name. Guess what, I have my little Cameron Scott :goodvibes

I have 4 boys and they were so much harder to name than my DD. We have:

Kyle Austin who was going to be Austin Kyle, but another relative gave birth to a boy she named Austin before he was born so we switched it.

Jordan Matthew

Zachary Ryan DD actually came up with his first name. I was pretty far along and trying to think of names and she said "there's a boy in my class named Zachary" and it just clicked.

Lucas Trent (who we call Luke or Lucas) He's named after a character in a book that DH and I were both reading when we were trying to think of a name.

Both of my children were premature, so after the first went nameless for about 2 days, we learned our lesson and were prepared for child #2. Our first - Stanley Karter John - goes by Karter, and #2 is Quinn Kalvin James. I really like 3 names. Be prepared, but don't freak out. If you are still freaking, then you probably haven't found the right name for you. Don't let other people influence you. Just do what you feel is best for your family. You will say this name many, many, many times in the future - so make sure you like it.

My daughter's middle name is Alyssa and my son's middle name is Joseph, and if this baby is a boy his name will be Sebastian Andrew.

Don't panic and congratulations. Breath, breath, breath. Both times I had names in my head wanting to see them before we named them. It was a day and 1/2 before we figured it out. My picks are Aidan, Christopher, Nicoli, Giovanni and Cole but close your eyes, see the baby 1st and flip through the baby book after he's born and see what hits you.

Very best of luck and God bless you and your family
