I'm making our reservations now and am wondering if dd #3 will count at the meals. I know we don't need to pay for her food (she'll only be 13months) but will we need to take her into account with the tip? We have 5 people without her and I know that 6 = 18% tip.
thanks! :goodvibes

I really don't know the answer but does it matter really? You would probably be giving 20% tip either way, at least.

Yes,Anyone in your party ( even infants ) count as a person and can = auto gratuity.Though the infant/child may not be ordering, they still need a seat and the table still needs to be waited on and bussed.

We have noticed a difference in the service given when we had 6+ people vs under 6 people at Disney. My dh and I usually give 20% or more at restaurants, BUT we have also given much less than that when the server has been horrid. I was just hoping we wouldn't be trapped by the 6 people thing.

Thanks!

Yep! Baby makes 6. We've been traveling with the grandkids for years and even when the babies were in carriers, we still had to count them for the ADRs and yes, the tip is ALWAYS added because of our party size.

BTW, we have eaten at WDW hundreds of times (4-6 trips a year) and only had one horrid server (Hollywood and Vine). I think those are great odds. Normally we have servers who at least do their job. Sometimes we get a few that go above and beyond and are rewarded with an above average tip.

When DS was that age, I remember how much extra work he created for servers. Bringing crackers, the extra cleanup, toting a highchair to us, the mess often created on the floor!!!

I used to leave our tip (generally 20%), then look at his seat and leave a little more! LOL!!!

Yep...we were there when our #6 was 15 months and we were surprised to see we were automatically charged. Did make it easier though not having to worry about a tip!:thumbsup2...but I will admit there was one meal if we could, we would have left 15%...terrible/almost non-existant service.

When my twins were that age I tipped far over the accepted percentages. Actually, we often brought food for them to eat and ordered for ourselves. We would tip based on the amount we ordered and then throw at least another $10 on the table since there would be some sort of mess to clean up from the babies (we would do our best to clean up but babies are crumb creators and I know the wait staff would have to bring out the sweeper before the next patron used that table).

I believe that you will indeed be charged the gratuity but I do know that if you r service was not up to par then you can speak to a manager. I know that disney sets high standards and they would not want you to have poor service and pay 18% to the person. Good luck

I was just hoping we wouldn't be trapped by the 6 people thing.

Thanks!

You won't be trapped. If you have serious issues with the service, speak to a manager first and explain why you are unwilling to pay. Chances are you won't have to do this. We have always had good service at Disney, sometimes excellent and at worst, just fair.

Great Question!

I am closing this thread and referring everyone to the tippng thread that is a sticky at the top of the forum. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2300858

Please take a moment to read the first post of the thread for a wealth of information about all things tipping on the restaurant board.

Thanks! :goodvibes
